In All Likelihood Poems

Shut Up

So tired of the TV talking heads
twisting every word that's said
much of it scripted
and has to be read
they don't even have a vested interest
only putting their mouth
where the money is at best
my advice to them...
'If you have nothing useful to add,
Mum's the word
don't drive us mad,
keep it under wraps
stow it under your hat,
put a lid on it
or a cork in it,
zip your lips,
spare us the hot air,
it's a verbal Sirocco and, in all likelihood,
an ill wind that blows no one any good.'

A Horsey Type Grin

Have you ever seen a horsey grin
They've got humongous amounts of teeth
Their dentist bill must be atrocious
It's almost beyond belief

Whenever they get a toothache
They feel it right down to their hoofs
You can hear their screams over in China
They just about hit the roof
 
Really feel sorry for these equine types
They're usually such amiable sorts
They never complain if you're 300 pounds
They're such amazing good sports

Named him “Toothy”, this friend of mine
Tell him, “Brush those dentures real good!”
The cost of a plate of false teeth for horsies
Is astronomical in all likelihood

If Kisses Were Dollars

Had a crazy dream last night
Dreamt I was living in a world
Where kisses were units of currency
First thing I thought of
Was that cute li'l cashier at Walmart
To pay for a $50 item
Would require 50 kisses plus tax
Bringing the total to 60 smooches
I would start shopping for all kinds of stuff
That I didn't actually need
I'd even buy ladies lingerie like bras and knickers
And give them away to my neighbourhood ladies!
In all likelihood I'd go broke
But man, would I be a happy bum
Going to bed now to hopefully pick up
Where I left off...

Universe-2

Universe is beyond comprehension
That dark far off void away from our sphere
Midnight stars and moon are like extension
On night of perfection, they seem so near.

We might lay claim to our moon and its glow
But darkness beyond is not understood
Where does it end? perhaps we'll never know
Earth's spinning alone in all likelihood

Adventurous man forever seeking
Hard to believe we will stop at the stars
Deep dark void is calling so intriguing
With high expectations, lift off for Mars.

Beguiled by the notion of endless space
Universe waits for distant man's embrace.

Alien Civilizations

A question that has baffled man since day one

Are there other beings similar to ours out there

In all likelihood without a doubt I say yes

The odds are astronomical to be otherwise

We only need view the map of the heavens

To lead us to this logical conclusion

Odds must surely be (astronomical x infinite)

To resemble us is a matter of conjecture

Don'T Watch the Six O'Clock News

Do not watch the six o'clock news
If you want to live a carefree life
It'll bring you down, beat the crap outta ya
It's like being stabbed with a knife

Just hearing about all the stuff that goes on
You'll wanna set up camp in the woods
Not a bad idea when you really think bout it
Much happier in all likelihood

Now this is turning out to be quite a downer
That was not my original intention
Always think positive is what I usually say
A smile was the greatest invention

I'm sure there aren't many cynics on The Soup
So I don't think this will be scoffed at
Poets have a feel for the right path to choose
The one filled with love jam packed

So do not watch the six o'clock news
It's always about the lunatic fringe
Look at your loved ones and tell 'em you care
Invite them on a friendly love binge

I Can

Sometimes problems appear to come in batches,
and finding solutions is like trying to light wet wood.
This futile attempt is a mere waste of matches,
and the results will be smoke in all likelihood.
When I allow a problem to defeat me today,
It continues to occupy my time tomorrow.
Ignoring a problem just increases its stay,
Which often leads to heartache and sorrow.
The preponderance of a problem that may exist,
Psychologically influences my solution.
No matter the size it shouldn’t be dismissed,
Through prayer and searching comes resolution.
I tell myself
Courage must come from the soul within 
You must finish the win to win
So figure it out yourself 
You were born with all the Great have had, 
Get hold of yourself and say 'I can '

Making Friends

I walked out to a cottonwood
Who lives out in the hay
And since he had no livelihood
Decided I would stay

A root of his became my chair
He sighed and gently swayed
As silently he cleaned the air
I rested in his shade

I told him 'bout my neighborhood
The miles I walked each day
But if he cared in all likelihood
I knew he'd never say

Though it was just a short affair
His kindness was displayed
And as I left I was aware
A new friend had been made

God never places a problem at my front door,
without hiding a solution in the nearby grass.
If I get on my knees and to God implore,
the solution will come without an impasse.

The thrill can't be explained
