What is a Poem

Today I argued about a poem I wrote,
I was proud of this poem I wrote,
But was this a poem a poem?

They said not.
I called it free verse,
they called it a story.
I said it was descriptive,
they said I don't see it sorry.

I showed this poem to someone else who said it was a poem.
this person was my music teacher,
who teaches I.B. English,
they said my poem was fine.

To Day I walked home from school and I saw a bus,
This bus was full of people but it displayed,
not in service.

so now I wonder what makes a poem,
what makes a bus in-service?

It is weeks after now,
I have answered my question.

A poem is what we make it to be,
the bus and I are poetic,
though a city bus doesn't write.
It still made poetry.

So my dear people,
do you remember Shakespeare?
He broke the rules of English so often,
His words became the rules.

If you remember what this man once said,
Then the question, you will understand.
I have asked it differently,
his answer was incomplete.

To be,
Or not to be?
But to agree or not agree.

that is the question.
that is poetry.

On Barren Ground

I stand upon a barren ground

Where many dying or dead soldiers are found.

Silent cries can be heard all around

Of many a soldier that lay on battle ground.

If only theyd known what they knew now

Would they have died for theyre country on a false governments vow.

Falsely led to do battle in war

If only theyd known truly what it was they were fighting for.

Hailed as heroic ib each of their deaths

Too many lives gone in a wars gidden depths.

A world ruled only by greed

Upon their own country men

Their government feed.

So to our young children i say these words before the world they step out.

Please be wary of the world that you are about to step out

For nots all as it seems

Its a world of much sad conviction & doubt.

Listen to the parents who to you fave birth

For this love is true & pure

& the only one of its worth.

Dont be led by viws or promises made

By a governing force that leads to the graves youll be laid.

Think about what it is you want from your life

Remember that war can only bring to the world more & more strife.

Ib Whiz

Do you know?
Yes, I know
It is my personal space,
which no one should invade.

Do you know?
Yes, I know
That your kinesics are so valuable,
That they should be palpable.

Do you know?
Yes,I know
Your attitude towards elders,
Should be appreciated even by contenders.

Do you know?
Yes, I know
To be aware of the other,
Should not be a pother.

Do you know?
Yes, I know
To be independent, yet inter-dependent,
Will make you splendent.

Do you know?
Yes, I know
What is it?
Can you guess with your wit?

A concept that is multi-faceted,
Makes your life chapleted.

Yes, International mindedness it is,
That's sure to make you an IB Whiz.

Mind Trip

I'm up, I'm down, sometimes I wonder if my mind is sound,
I'm sad, I'm angry, never really felt that anyone could love me,
I look, I don't see, I close my eyes and wonder should I breathe,
I fear, I'm strong, what ib my life could I have done for it to be so wrong,
My family, we hurt, where is daddy to put in some of the work,
I'm thirsty standing, so why am I dripping wet?
My emotions are embedded within so I'll never forget,
Its dark, with tears of blood , I'm screaming, shouting out for a little love
Its silent, I pray, I'm awaken to a new begining in my mind it plays repeating the
ending,
I live, I touch, the battle is so hard but I want give up
Its a mind over matter and it matters to me my family mean this much

Finals

The best part of the year has come,
The pools are now all open.
We only have one obstacle to clear,
That very last obstacle is rather clear.

That Obstacle is a six foot hurdle,
built on solid knowledge,
Math, Science, English, History and more!

But we can do it were IB!
We shall study them all;
Math, Science, English, and History
