We were hillbillies when we lived in the north
But now that we are Floridians, we have to come forth
Admit that we love wearing pajamas and nighties all day
When I go outside, my attire scares the alligators away
Now we are known as beach bums, which is okay by me.
I can sit on a beach and eat crackers, and drink lemon tea
Not only in the summer, but in the winter and fall too.
I love living here with the rednecks, Trump true.
I like my mumu, can wear it outside to garden or water ski.
Since I am in my seventies, no one says anything to me.
I became invisible a few years ago thanks to my age.
Wow! We had two inches of water according to this little gauge.
I have new friends now, we play bridge and use walkers too.
Eat all the rich foods, some of us weigh two hundred and two.
Our waistbands are elastic, there are crocs on our feet.
Come over for some goodies the next time you want to eat.

Hillbillies got a dairy cow and trained it up right
It mooed and bellowed all through the first night
Drank some moonshine and did a crazy petootsie dance.
So silly and funny, the fireflies flitted and flew as if in a trance.

Only hillbillies have a couch on their porch.
She has cute eyes. She is a cute kid.
I am a hillbilly, I inform her.
Her eyes narrow.
Are you a redneck too?
Sure, why not?
Where do you keep your guns?
In my gun refrigerator.
Where is it?
If I told you I would have to show you.
Show me! She looks highly interested.
Maybe another time.
There is a pause before she says “Mommy says you are a hippie!”
She’s got that right.
Slow smile. She is smug now.
A baby in training to be prejudiced against some group. Sad really.

HILLBILLIES BYBILLIES AND BLOWBILLIES--
Once upon a time in the land of Frilly
Lived a tatter torn family the McFrelly’s
On the outskirts of Arkansas the county of Mountain Lily,
Just below the Mason Dixie line acts involuntarily
They were peaceful hillbillies
Granny made corn and dandelion whiskey dilly
Jonathan had a tan cuz he slept on the sand pond lily
His sister Bertha Bybillie goat choking off the surrounding globe lily
Kitchen totes, those utensils often found a float really
They were peaceful hillbillies
Daddy Darson Dale dippin snuff and drinkin shine ale swamp lily
Blowbillie shown now it’s winter it snowed time to turn off the stilly
This be the Legend of the Hillbillies, Bybillies, and Blowbilllies
From Arkansas, Mountain Lily Arkansas (Ain't that a dilly!!)
They wuz peaceful hillbillies

Ten hillbillies came over the hill
Each one of them answered to Bill
To name them all Billy
Would be rather silly
Not one of them responds to Will
Their fiancés all share the name Sue
Mass confusion, causes such a to do
They'd arranged a joint wedding
To the alter they’re heading
Ten hillbillies had not thought it through
Their intentions were very well meant
One invitation covered the event
The whole town was invited
And they were delighted
To witness nuptials in a huge tent
The excitement it grew and grew
As each Bill married his Sue
They all walked down the aisle
Echo pair with a huge smile
singing Abba's I do I do I do

I once knew a boy named Billy
I thought he was originally from Chile
Mostly ‘cause he loved his hot sauce and chili
Toting everywhere his jar of piccalilli
It turns out Billy was really the local hillbilly
I should have known, that was really silly
‘Cause Billy craved to barbecue anything chilly
On his boombox would play loudly rockabilly
Going around back roads willy-nilly
And Billy liked nothing girly or frilly
Till that is his eyes fell on fancy Miss Millie
With her exotic palate straight from Piccadilly
At first Billy would get nothing but stares that were grilly
Till he offered Miss Millie a fine thoroughbred filly
She let out a cry that was remarkably shrilly
All she secretly desired was a bouquet of tiger lily
When Billy misunderstood and brought her back a water lily
Seeing through Billy’s shell Miss Millie paused standing stilly
‘Cause Miss Millie was way deep down a wannabe tilly
