Grecians

Grecians

Hellas and the port of Piraeus hold a memory
in my seafarer’s heart, civilized people, no
they are not leaders of efficiency, but you can
talk to them and expand your knowledge.
Not forgetting whores, they had time for a drink
sharing, a joke, and didn’t hurry you.

In Hamburg, it was never thus, no smiles, no foreplay
efficiency ruled; money on the table, the trousers
down fast, get out, no need to take your
shoes off. Yet the Germans are admired, but
when they have nothing to export
The Hellenic people will go on smoking cigarettes
and being civilized.

If Not Burning

If not burned

Hellas is burning the Athens is surrounded by invading fires
no modern weaponry can stop this brutal onslaught.
Greece is far from here, where the Atlantic breeze is cooling
it doesn’t concern us, should it?
Further afield, people have too much water the drown and
become refugees trying to find a safe place.
Are there any safe places left?
Those who think their country is secure will not share
it with the driftwood coming to their shores.
California is burning villas made of timber are matchboxes
for the rich to feels the heat, but does it make them kinder.
Of course, it has nothing to do with us, we who live in a place
where the breeze from the north Atlantic is cooling.
In this time of life, the pandemic is just the beginning
of a total breakdown of the world we knew, the day may
Come when Afghanistan is a relatively safe place to go
as it has no flooding to speak of but has plenty of drugs
to pass the time while waiting for a fire to reach us.

Black, Shiny Shoes

Black, Shiny Shoes.
The EU dictatorship has crushed Hellas Germany and the banks won-
The French to their helped the Greeks writing a new tax system and
for once the tycoons have to pay tax as well and for the Hellenic
people they need not buy new shoes every fortnight, let the cobblers
mend your shoes. I remember a time when buying shoes was a major
investment, they were always black and bought on credit book.
You may call it thrift I will call it poverty when you are poor everything
cost more as the Greeks soon will soon notice. And in case you wonder
the money the loans go straight to the lenders banks and one wonder
who many times they have to pay for the airport in Athens a German
steel company built? The Greeks are hard working people, with bad elite,
the next one to will be Portugal, Italy too are feeling the clammy hand of
capitalism and then it will be France`s turn to taste rigour.
What about EU then?

Australia Vet

Australia vet.

On a farm that has ten hundred sheep a lamb has a broken leg.
our intrepid vet is on his way to save it. He succeeded and we all
get misty eyed. We who think animals are our equal to us except
we eat this could gives a wrong impression.
If all people are equal so are animals, but what we see is dogs
with broken legs and a hurt pig in its sty
We must learn to understand that some animals are our enemies,
not that they have sought out to be, so and to avoid the abysmal
pests we have to eradicate them.

My old dog having been in Hellas and beyond I had to spare its
agony and put it down – twelve years it waited- Its deep blue eyes
held no rancour.
And now alone I can’t help thinking, who is helping me through
the transition from the conscious to the mystery.

Alone In the Dark

I opened my eyes,under.
A bleak atmosphere-
deserted I beheld.
Sinuous channels flowing.
Whimpering
Sounds escaped,
As I walked on vast layer
Of permafrost.
Beyond the horizon,the
World lay bare.
With my heart in my
Hand,I passed thru
Argyle And Hellas,amid
eerie Sounds echoing as
dust
Storms circled,forming
Shadowy figures.
Storms etching
The terrain,light
Coloured dust particles
Created shifting light
And dark patterns.
How came I into this
Voiceless world?
Three thousand miles,
Across is chasm;beneath
Lay the throne of Hades
I thought.
Drawing near,I jolted
As I heard a voice.
In the ship, this voice
Echoed in my ears-
"Welcome to earth!"

The Compliant Press

The compliant Press

Snowstorm in America, where else? There are snowstorms
in Scandinavia too, but how cares. In Russia 200 hundred
people have frozen to death, the news on TV, cover this in
two seconds because all camera eyes are trained on America
and its fiscal cliff- I hope it fall in to it- and snowstorms.
There was a time when America was important that things
of this inconsequential nature were important…no more.
The united states of America´s parochial problems no longer
matter as it is a nation bankrupt like Hellas and sustained by
useless wars in the Middle East. When the lords of the press
notice that their focus was wrong, the main language thought
a university will be Chinese and Arabic. And as they gurgling
drown in the new world order we will hear the faint echo of
democracy and freedom, none which behooves humanity well.
And the lords of the press will serve their new masters with
tame diligence as they served the old masters of power.

Troy

TROY

Fabled proud towers across the Aegean
Sheer walls never breached;
From far-off Hellas rarely seen
Till by the angry Greeks full-reached.

Burnt and humbled, a culture erased.
After ten years the city strong-walled
Was obliterated, washed away, effaced -
And history was appalled.

So also the Atlantis, Cumorah, and Inca delirium
Drowned in the flow of time,
Killed in their flowering, like Illium :
Such cultural perfection sublime.

The tide of history washes and cleans
Leaving no trace of stillborn might-have-beens
