Heavy Footed Poems | Examples

Aboard This Idling Time

Canada geese arrowing south,
Black-op's drone's hum overhead,
their silhouettes caught in the last blush
of a winter sun.

Old woman
sweeping gray hair back into gold
as she bends to a labor
only her eyes remember.

I am going to sell-up,
take this patch of land,
and farm myself out
as a useless yellow hound
for kids to miss
every time
I stupidly kill myself.

The days are chained to each other,
I am ready to jump off
this old blanked-out window
loco
motive-lessness,

follow the geese
to where weird aircraft
are considered the new norm,
and question nothing -

all answers are soft landmines
for the heavy-footed.

The Parsley Sage

heavy-footed
he tramps his
wisdom on her
renaissance carpet
			she gives him
			thick coffee and
			sits him in a chair
			far too small
he stares about
the room & talks
about nothing in
particular, but
			thinking all the
			time about time
she smiles and
does not understand
			he clutters out
			confused by her
			incomprehension
			stumbling over his
tears.

A Plants Life

It is a plant’s life.

Up in the continuous night, I saw a streak of light
a dying comet’s last hurrah.
Bedroom in darkness couldn’t sleep too much death
for one night.
Got up and read a book about plants speaking
to each other.
Warning, “heavy-footed human coming your way.”
“Duck, a lawnmower is going amok.”
Amputated roses and tulips chafes in a vase kept
alive for a few days, admire the agony of flowers.
Carrots scream when pulled up from the soil,
good for your health the dietician says.
Everything we do hurts someone, especially plants
except a few that can poison you.
Is my dentist a gardener of my teeth?

Peregrine Flacons

Mottled wings spear the air,
a grey flash and splintering.
Stream lined heads sharply applied
as if the wind itself tore through
openings in the sky.

The birds circle and swoop,
dive and free-fall, tumble & soar,
spiral high, riding a rollercoaster
of avian ecstasy.

We, the heavy-footed,
chase with our lenses,
aiming to catch these flickering arrows -
most capture only a blurring blear.

Whoever reacts ahead of a second-thought
may snatch an image,
as their swift jiggering flights
leave us standing
momentarily turned to stone.

Celebration

Vernal Equinox

The captive portals peep into the frozen wintry extravaganza
Embellished with snowy walks and blistering winds
A knock on the door to waken the sun to robe his bare nature
The eyes tired of spotless views and ears hunger for trills and tweets

The heavy footed spiritual journeys of deities and saints
Has come to a rest with resurrections and enlightenments
On the dawn of the vernal equinox, setting the balances right
The sun rides gleefully across the celestial equator

The ice cracks and melts in its own music, the dolphins dance to uplift our spirits
There is a pandemonium of freedom in the magical air with birds in free flight
The hidden hues and colours toss in the smiles of spring
Spring is a celebration with nature and love with the birth of zillions of treasures

Dentistry and Reflections

The dentist and Reflections

Up there in the continuous darkness of the universe
I saw a streak of light... a dying comets last hurrah.
Bedroom very dark couldn’t sleep too much death
for one night. Got up and read an article that plants
speak to each other. “Warning a heavy footed man
is coming your way.” “Duck a lawn mower is at large.”
Amputated roses and tulips chafes in a vase kept
alive for a few days... admire beauty in death agony.
Carrots screaming in distress when pulled from soil...
good for your health, dieticians says.
Everything we like, what we eat are, hurting plants
and animals. Which, reminds me I’ve an appointment
with my dentist tomorrow, gardener of my glum teeth,
he will speak softly as he pulls up out another tooth.
