As I get older
And as I amble and imbibe
The wafting of the aroma of roses
And as I get older
I still rock (just not in a chair)
And I roll with the lingo
Of the younger generation
I think things are sick
I try not to throw shade
I think somethings are fire
I am stupidly blessed
(and I say in my Hampton Orphanage drawl)
One hundred percent
As I get older
I find (as Ben Franklin confessed)
That the God of Heaven
Governs the affairs of mankind
The good, the bad and the ugly
And as I get older
(I said older not old)
I am a work in progress
According to the Lord
And as I head to
The autumn of my life
(The words of my Army buddy
And amateur sage Jack
Echo in my mind)
"People say
I am in my own little world,
That's ok,
at least everyone knows me there."

and this constant back and forth
Finally taking Standing Hampton down Candy Cane Lane

Premium MemberHOW TO SPEAK TO YOUR CHILDREN

Brooke Hampton…a children’s book author
Is where I’m pulling today’s Nella’s blessing from:

Speak to your children
as if they are the wisest
kindest
most beautiful and magical humans on Earth….
for what they believe…
is what they become.

Premium MemberThe First King Size Bed

The first king size bed was fashioned nearly two-thousand years ago,

Not by Thomasville, Broyhill or Bassett, producers that we all know.

There was no pillow-top mattress made by Sealy or Simmons for the bed,

Nor a chenille bedspread or foam pillow upon which to lay His head.

The bed was not located in a cozy Hampton Inn or Embassy Suites,

But in a lowly stable with a bed of straw sans snowy-white sheets.

The first king size bed was a simple manger for a royal destined to rule!

Born was the King of Kings whose birthday we celebrate this Joyous Yule!

Amazing places
The sphinx of Egypt
Fort Lauderdale's spirit

People's faces
Lovers gazes
Swear it by merit

Taj Mahal flavor
Coconut kissings
French Riviera
Gorgeous banks a beauty

Pull her close
Nearer nearer
Within his arms
Maximum charms

Days and days
Empire state
The Hilton the Hampton
Chocolate drops

Tickle tickle stop
All night all day
Savor away
Clearing skies

Sparkling eyes
Caught by surprise
Squeeze you insane
Top of the Eiffel Tower

Embrace again my love
Thrice I love
Day light shines

Wake my love
My love
Speak French to
Me baby

Mon amour

Unheard

Casted to the side
When I talk about racism
Two of you are down to hear
But the rest don’t know or care

Gotta laugh off the jokes
About my skin and my People
That crap is humiliating
So why am I endorsing it

If I told you all to stop with it
What Would you say? Would it be
“You’re not the Jeff I know”
Ye, cause that guy was acting

And he was terrible at it
If I got way too real for a sec
Would you put me down
Like Martin, X, and Hampton

I should be putting my best
Into something that matters
And not be entertainment.
Just don’t know how to leave it

Racism

I am what I am and your not.
It was said by someone
that once she lets me inside
back to you she won’t ever come.

When they say
what I lack in intelligence I make up in size.
When they say,
what I lack in education I make up in speed.

Mr.Hampton is closed
my mind he made up so long ago.
Across the mirrored lake
rowing twords me is a woman in a covered boat
she goes to Yale.

Don’t call the police on me.
I don’t have an alibi.
It must of been done by that other someone
it couldn’t of been done by me.

Every thirty one days all rabbits can,
then their on the run.
I don’t like what you are I am not.
A monkey can see what you never could feel.

Premium MemberIndependence

Independence

In search of freedom, many braved the high seas,
Needing to flee the chains of their home countries.
Desiring a fresh start in a far-off land;
Educating their children to understand.
Plymouth, Jamestown, Hampton, and other such sites;
Enduring hardships, attacks, and other fights.
Now viewing self-rule, like Paine, as Common Sense;
Declaring to England their independence.
Early clashes at Lexington and Concord;
Not shrinking from gunfights or edge of a sword.
Claiming patriots’ victory at Yorktown;
Earning a U.S. republic, not a crown.

A Dozen Octobers In Montauk

Fishing rods and reels, and bicycle wheels,
gentle thousand yard stare,
daisies in the dunes, measured afternoons
all without a damn care.
Bake shop coffee and wet shore like toffee,
Hampton Star in my lap,
on the beach sipping, salty wind nipping
at thoughts of that day’s nap.
Sand like gold powder, piping clam chowder,
oyster cracker crumbs,
shy deer in the brush, blue waves fall and crush,
stoops alive with red mums.
Old high school pals, now of different locales,
drink plastic cups of beer.
Baseball and whiskey, nights thick and misty,
for our time once a year.
Inky skies full of stars, when we leave the bars,
silver on the black sea.
I look at the moon, an ancient white rune,
who makes memories with me.

Premium MemberDentist Ben

Dentist Ben

Hampton had a dentist named Ben,
Inflowed nitrous gas to begin.
Just then his wife called.
Kept on talking that's all.
Life until paroled from the pen.

A Mighty Mole

Many hard battles King Billy fought
ere he fell from his horse at Hampton Court.
No enemy's musket laid him low,
no cannon ball , no swordsman's blow.
A hoof of his horse got caught in a hole,
the work of a lowly burrowing mole.
On the Emerald Isle some raise a toast
to this notable victory of the least o'er the most.

Welcome

On October 14th, 2002
At 6:34 in South Hampton, New York
A tiny baby girl
Brand new and alive
Enters the world
For the very first time

Her little face
pure and sweet
Curious eyes wander
Searching for answers
Soon to be revealed

The mother
Crying tears of joy
Looks at her baby
Her child
Her creation

The love of her life

The father
Anxious and excited
Waits for his wife and child
Unaware of what is in store

Tick! Tock! Of the clock on the wall
Waiting to see her face

At long last the reunion begins
A mother and daughter lock eyes
Love sparks
A shimmer glistens in the baby’s eyes

Years have been taken
Hours have been waited
And finally
Their baby is born
After months of medicine

Of Canadian and American family
Youngest in one
Oldest in another
A new baby is born
Another branch in the endless tree
Soon to blossom
In the years to come

Isabella Grace Greenberg
Belle for short
Jewish and Christian
American and Canadian
Absolutely original
And everything in between

Hampton Beach

Hampton Beach

The smell of fresh fry doe
Time had elapsed playing at the casino
Fresh lobster with a side order of fries
 Those spacious wonderful sky's
Down at the shell the continental were playing
A walk by the lady of a statue in waiting
Flip flops and the sound of laughter
A playground for kids in the middle
The boardwalk with seagulls flocking over head
Fire works in the midnight air with a cheer

The Village

starting day ending day karma day,

Approach it like the 100 yard dash,

Vision intermediate Hampton the scene,

To view the occupation to siege the envy,

Pacific in till eyes hawk the cross of a brush of body,

Innocent by standing no testimony just island for ghost,

Body,

Vision intermediate Hampton the scene,

Missing look like,

Body,

Thoughts end sync for familiar dearly depart,

Hands meet like Greek and enshrine for peace,

Voice o heaven lesson grace invention o I am,

Body,

Coming from I’m from the,

Village.

Hanukkah Star

If I was to hold the hands of a diamond could you tell the sparkle,

I see farther then any foreign land color with culture,

Like a star bridge the galaxy I feel it star power,

To be the mist a among the Hampton a sea among,

The a broad bring in the sail,

Latitude the distance kiss among the hand,

Re invite culture a meal with a coat holder,

Take in the sparkle like sun to a desert of distance love,

Could one feed off that love to make it to his love,

Among the star I see the one point home and I hold onto,

You are my Holistic,

My Hanukkah star.
