Halves Poems | Examples

Between my two halves

Deep in to the shivering waves of mood,
have just met the other me,
through hundreds of inner layers,
unbeknown to myself
they swarmed like thousands of prayers.

A lifetime of constant spirited battle
where tumultuous emotions can not be settled.

All those other exhibited faces that have me defined,
yet many of them still non-obedient in being refined.

Now, my character with several shapeless sides,
will remain yet again on stranger tides.

Tomorrow is an obscure wonder,
where yet again,
another new me awaits to subsequently wander.

Premium MemberTWO HALVES OF LOVE

May we be blessed to experience both halves of the gift of love
(At least the way I see it…the way that I believe)
The first is how wonderful it is to give it…
The second…how wonderful it is to receive.

The Two Halves of my Life

Today we took a lovely walk
On quiet country roads,
Where the autumn trees surround
The rural one of our abodes.

A hundred miles later,
We strode briskly, I should note,
From our main home, an apartment,
To the place where we could vote.

Now, to cast an early ballot,
We were luckily assigned
To a great New York museum,
So, of course, we then combined

An important civic duty
With a visit worth a view
Of a very cool exhibit,
Which we always love to do.

Our two living quarters equal,
Since they’re small, an average house,
Yet this singular arrangement
Works for me and for my spouse.

When the two halves come together,
In the ways I love the best,
I feel happy and contented,
Which, by now, you might have guessed.

Premium MemberWhat For?

You were outraged, although you smiled
You felt that you could hardly care
You see me as an orphan child
Too often, more than you can bear
Say it ain’t so, confute my words
I much prefer them to be wrong
But I just wanted to be heard
Not isolated for so long
This shallow life is getting deep
Truth split in halves, as I have seen
You’re calm and silent, when you sleep
With your remote, beside the screen
I came to kiss you, but you thought
I’ve had enough, and maybe more
Than I deserved, so you have got
A little extra time, what for?

Two Halves of a Different Dream

Two halves of a different brain, entwined,
One seeks logic's path, structured and refined,
The other dreams in colors, wild and free,
A dance of contrast, harmony we see.

Rational mind, calculating each thought,
Imagination soars where it's never been caught,
Together they weave a tale of wonder,
A symphony of contrasts, lightning and thunder.

In unity they thrive, two halves complete,
A masterpiece of thought, oh what a feat!

Two Halves

Two halves
By Michelle Morris
05/11/2020

They were two halves of
an imperfect whole,
So many words hidden
deep in their souls...

But together their souls
took flight and soared,
Above the weight of
human voids...

Premium MemberTwo Halves

Two parts lowered in a boundless ocean of fierce passion.
Two slices run across to frame a conspicuous association.

There wasn't a unique heart in this graceful world, at any rate.
Willingly, he was part of a pair, and the other is his soulmate.

He realistically was nearby a half-lost from his original half.
Until you mildly strike each other under moon glow gaff.

Learn of those who cope with the ill issues of proper reverence!
Two halves come together, despite the sizeable distance.

Premium MemberPredicatble

In confidence, at three-card Monte when I'd choose,
A complete mark, I found myself destined to lose.
Pulling rabbits out of hats I was just a twit;
As a rank amateur whose hand always got bit.

Many times, I stacked poker decks to force an Ace
But wound up, predictably, with red on my face.
Underneath shiny tin cups, I shuffled dry peas
But bumbled badly with high regularity.

"Predictable" my friends told me since I was ten
Because I lost so oft, even I said “Amen.”
Asked one time to saw a woman in half and then
To quickly put back her beauteous halves again.

Instead, I swept her up my arms, asking to wed;
Unpredictably, to me it was “yes,” she said.

Two Halves

The Gods split us in half;
from two mouths and four eyes,
from two noses and four legs,
from two hairlines and four hands,

we became one, singular -
Plato tells us so.

Yet we continue, we strive,
to merge and meld,
to link and join,
to hold and partner
and comfort and shroud
our 'other', our missing jigsaw piece.

Think of Noah and his two by two,
even condiments on dinner tables;
see proverbs with ying and yang,
feel gravity - a push and a pull.

What is flame without match?
What is ink without pen?
What is throw without catch?
What is egg without hen?

The Gods split us in two,
Plato tells us so,
and we search, search,

for the fingers and ears,
the toes and the lungs,
for the shins and spine,
the knees and the tongue

that make up our 'one';
our mosaic, whole.

But a hand and a paw,
or a mouth and a jaw;
an owner's skin and a scale,
or derrière and pet's tail,
can be that mosaic and jigsaw,
that split half, the key and the door

for some.

Love In Halves

You
Me
Love
More than the kind for family

You once felt the same
Then along the separation came
Tore us apart
When we weren’t made to end
We were made to start.

The Halves

Night walks to dawn’s light
And hopes stand shoulder’s height
To welcome the anecdotes of the Halves
With convincing looks and warm embrace

Flashing your dainty disarming smiles
Echoes my heart rhythms from a mile
For this long missed kinship
Now blossom on the hands of friendship ?

It has been so profound
A life time half have I found ?
Strengthened is the blood bond
Which will never be a dry pound

Yet I find it hard to comprehend ?
While others try to apprehend
When their nothing to fear
Or anything else to compare

I am proud of the minutes we shared
And bless every second I cared
Even when you are not mine to dare
The wondering touch was glare

Let the heavens witness this uncommon tenderness
The earth sing of this genuine happiness
Even as we part to meet in earnest
Sois los mejores! {You’re the Best}?

Two Halves, One Heart

Think of me,
In times of darkness,
When you cannot see,
Nor make sense.

I will come,
Only for you,
To aid the one,
Who has a heart so true.

We have been broken,
By those we care for,
By the words they've spoken,
Yet that was before.

Now we have each other,
And love everlasting,
We will not bother,
With the molds they are casting.

Two halves to form one heart,
Stitched together with passion,
That cannot be torn apart,
No matter anyone's action.

So from fire came beauty,
And hatred bred love,
What was drowning at sea,
Has risen above.

Premium MemberTwo Halves of a Whole

The sun woke me today
for it’s a non-Denominational orb
a once upon a time God
The sun rose, as it is wont to…
at once playful and somber
taking in all of the Earth’s delights,
tickling the lids of a bifurcated globe
casting into darkness
as many as it elevates into light.

The sun woke me today
a peachy-pink glow
seeped through my lids
as the English ivy countered
with a slight bend of its vine
toward the dirty winter window.
On the dark side birds found their nests
babies found their cradles
most found needed rest
as the sun also brings the night.

My Other Halves

Me and him and her
we are all.
He is confident and forceful,
she is doubting and horrible.
Me,
I am stuck in the middle.
on my own.
Only getting attention
when I quietly demand
and subtly moan.
Friend or foe?
They toe the party line,
they are me.
They tell me great things
that I do
and things I see.
They give me reason
and hold my esteem
fast like glue.
Outside:
I am at the bottom
not even one foot on a rung,
not even a clue.
So tell me why,
if you can.
I should not live with my two?

Star and celeb I am in their time.
Here I can do no wrong,
I have committed no crime.
They may scream and yell,
but they do tell;
true lies.
So I'm going to stay in my place,
Alerted inside:
to your other world,
inquisition spies.
Trying fragile heart:
while I dry my eyes.

I work in mental health and was inspired to write of someone I know who has schizophrenia.
