Downwind of the
Halal Cart
my stomach
starts to growl
Foreign smells
have filled the air
my appetite
to prowl
Those places
I have yet to go
but memory
knows so well
Another life
another time
where Heaven
— sleeps with Hell

Hearts shattered
Open ice
Friendly smiles
Competitions vice
A tie, they say
A game well loved
How can we win
When peace is the ideal above
We slaughter them humanely
We butcher them halal
Oil don't do well on our coast
And Orca's don't do well there
Are we better at entertaining than winning?
Now there's an original thought
We'd better burey the Oilers
Otherwise we'll get caught

Did you hear Denice O'hare, In Jerusalem, for a conceptual in-exile?
We never been there, if you did not need halal meat market in Gospel!
Or how the surname truncates, contracts or folds for a benign bay, daylight...delight
And they hushed me too, they do, surely, they do!
In a Dhaka University, multi-colored panel?
For an outsourcing...villanelle?

Perceptions, like tender sun rays, swiftly peep in,
With inference as sharp as the prick of a pin;
Comparison, like a physical balance, weighs,
With the sound of assertion, awareness does blaze...!
Like a light that illumines the properties, dense,
Permeates the cognitive conscious common sense;
Steering the mind, senses, breath, and each emotion,
Physique-psyche oneness becomes the life notion...!
As the consciousness, that springs from unconsciousness,
Undergoes the process of pre-consciousness;
Awareness from self turns to the universal,
As leaves of fall form communion at dispersal...!
Openness leads to awareness, the Bible says,
Awareness leads thoughts, words, and deeds in divine ways;
Knowledge of self directs to the knowledge of God,
Halal that's done in awareness, Islam does laud...!
Conscious stillness in silent equilibrium,
Sweeps away, from within, mental delirium;
Harmlessness to self and other creatures creeps in,
When conscious awareness, in rhythm, minds entwine...!

Femininity lies within your eyes,
Tenderness melts from your lips,
Beauty radiates from your eyeballs - makes my heart want to fall under your feet
But - it’s submissive on your palm.
This is the love
A love that no one can explain.

Tera tasaowur aur khayal aur kuch nahi
Bas ranj o gam aur malal aur kuch nahi
Tujh se mil kar aakhir ham karege kya
Shikwa shikayat aur sawal aur kuch nahi
Mohabbat pe meri mujhe itna fakar to hai
Hai pakiza aur halal aur kuch nahi

MUSTAFA’S SIDEWALK CAFÉ
Mustafa was pleased to welcome patrons who spoke English
From the nearby theatre where he had learned acting for a while.
He whispered Russian with his colonial accent, very British,
And a big, confidential, very African smile.
His grapes hung here as ours had over Lake Albert -
With hibiscus and dahlias impatiently pushing aside the fence.
His shashlik was in Ugandan halal style, not like in the desert,
Melting on the tongue, almost before you commenced.
No one could listen or watch for secrets in this busy spot -
Vendors shouted magazines and postcards in every tongue;
Traffic noise covered each hushed and heated thought;
Hot sunlight was dimmed for old and young.
I wanted to caress afresh her bewitching smile
Her delightful eyelids of Chantilly lace :
And just enjoy beholding her for a while,
Perfumed with Lake Albert’s hibiscus scent trace.

NOTE Based on a real café in the city centre in St Petersburg, Russia.
Lake Albert is a large lake in Uganda
Chantilly Lace is perhaps the most delicate lace in the world

I just, just wanna dance
For you, in your grace
For your embrace
Father Halal just wanna dance
Just give me a chance, wanna dance with you...

All you need is your feet and body moving
Moving and praise Halal Hallelujah

A reminder of sins,
Jerky de-firiye,
Come, come Islam.
Look, it's running out!
Life balance.
Poetry,
A heartbreaker.
It is not our goal,
Never rhyme.
No more levels?
Pros or cons?
Every second.
Wake up, brothers!
What's with this blunder?
They call it a gift.
Why the credit name?
Forget the interest,
Defeat your conscience
And forbidden halal
So you can lose.
Look!
That miserable invitation.
Love word
Blankets,
That called adultery.
What kind of spirit is this?
It's like a century of ignorance,
Invitation to sins,
Then call Hell,
A great bonus!
We gave them rejection,
Thank you tricksters,
Every disqualification.
Lord!
Give it to my students!
A great choice.
Damn!
Every tomb that comes to restraint.
Wastewater,
Granted condolences.

I choose you. And I’ll choose you over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.
You’ll surely belong to someone someday.
Why shouldn’t I win You and will make you my own real halal nikah future husband for lifetime.
A true lady doesnot demand too much, she thanks and move forward.
And a true man doesnot promise,he commits.
Your enchanting black eyes have cast a spell on me.
I belong to You now, embrace me.
Come now, I’m Yours for lifetime.
Let’s get united in such a way.
That neither Yours nor my feet touch the ground/Earth
This heart is now attached to You, O beloved.
Look, this village of my heart has now become Yours.
May I always remain in the shade of Your eyes.
Even if you cannot change all the people around you, you can change the people you choose to be around. Life is too short to waste your time on people who don’t respect, appreciate, and value you. Spend your life with people who make you smile, laugh, and feel loved.
When you make a choice, you change the future.

My Envious Moon:(Poem)
Flowing like the wind/breeze or wave,You came close to me.
My heart-beats became extremely restless.
I got struck by an arrow, a deep pain arose.
My heart got wounded (in such a way that), I felt ecstatic/overjoyed.
O my envious Moon! When Your eyes,
Met with mine for the first time, I felt ecstatic
In the midst of passion, in my arms .
When you enfolded with great love and full joy. I felt ecstatic
My heart was full of sand and emptiness.
My life was full of an endless thirst
Today in the desert, in the village of love
Dense rainfall has arrived, I feel ecstatic
I went crazy in your love, perished myself
You smiled in such a way, I feel ecstatic
You’ve fallen/struck like lightning, You’ve created magic
(As everything is working out perfectly)
You’ve ignited fire of our halal nikkah real love (in such a way), I feel ecstatic.
O my envious Moon! When Your eyes,
Met with mine for the first time, I felt ecstatic

They sent Jamal to detention
for saying "********"
yet he saw a billboard of the "KKK
with the president"
Maria cried when Emily told her
"If you say "f*** again, we won’t be friends"
but Maria heard that "they’re building a wall on CNN"
When Mohamed told Jenny, you have a "big a**"
She practiced her jujitsu and punched him in the face
While eating halal meat for dinner he heard,
"We’re banning people of the Muslim faith"
Danielle sat on the sidelines during the soccer finals
She was red-carded for saying "you’re sh**" to their rivals
but in Time Magazine she read,
"In Mississippi they’re refusing service to homosexuals"
Ahusaka was in his room today
tweeting to his followers about the super bowl
He didn’t go snowboarding
He called John a "mofo"
Ding, a notification on Ahusaka’s phone
from the Chicago Tribune
"The new administration is pushing through,
the pipeline under Standing Rock Sioux"
Jamal, Maria, Mohamed, Danielle and Ahusaka
paid their dues
but who's held accountable for "the silen* cur** wor** of the mighty few"

There was a red bauble named Al
He feasted on mead and Halal
He got hooked on a tree
Got nice comments for free
Which boosted his pride and morale.
Somebody the door opened wide
The wind gushed inside like the tide
Gosh! Poor Al hit the ground
And saw stars all around
He lost his decorum and pride.

As our nation turns a year older
let's lend our hands and shoulders
to lift Nigeria higher than it is
and proffer a solution to its incurable disease;
In unison let's say no to corruption
and yes to halal consumption.
Let's pray for God's mercies and blessings
and from our mistakes let's draw lessons;
I love you Nigeria, the pride of the continent
I send you my warm compliment.
