Grotto Poems - Poems about Grotto

A Mary Grotto

She slips quietly
into the semi-circle of the grotto,
reverently lights a votive candle.

A pretty girl, her form drags my eyes
away from the plaster virgin
into a carnal daydream.

She does the whole Catholic thing.
As she intones her rosery
her body invades my senses.

When I look again, she is crying
Some loved one badly needs her prayers?

I check myself to see

Christmas was coming, I'd begun to fret
Thinking of all the gifts to purchase yet
I spied an advert in a local store
For someone to replace their Santa Claus.

They gave me the position there and then
Eager to set up the grotto again
Got in my Santa outfit, it looked ace
Especially the white beard on my face.

The Grotto

Swamp

Animals of swamp
crocodile, fish, tadpoles
call-off the day
And wandered freely
Rabbit, deer, lion
lay apart quietly
No humane disturbances
No hiding in swamp grasses
Blue jay, yellow warbler
Sing to their heart's delight
While Hibau sleeps
Gibbon and Pangolin
play in grotto
Is Covid-19 a humane predator?
Or a protector of nature?

A Mary Grotto

She slips quietly into the semi-circle of the grotto,
reverently lights a votive candle.
A pretty girl, her form drags my eyes
away from the plaster virgin
into a carnal daydream.

She does the whole Catholic thing,
and every ritual gesture seems natural.
Rosary beads guide her fingers,
as she knits the face of Jesus perhaps
or her boyfriend - hard to tell.

As she

Shaman's Grotto

In these healing waters of blue you will learn peace
This sacred grotto of Shamans who first came to heal here
Passing down rituals from natures' beginnings

Kneel before my alter and drink from my goblet the nectar
of my holy waters where the rites of our fathers lay
Feel yourself open like a new spring flower growing ever wiser

Now

The reindeer and Santa proceed at a canter
On a sleigh made of magical wood
They’ve gone to fill shelves with gifts made by elves
For all the kids that have been good

At home in the grotto, the elves are all blotto
They found where the whisky was hid
Then looked for some brandy to drink themselves bandy
And that’s just

Everyone In the Grotto Knows

Everyone in the grotto knows
The reason for Santa’s ho ho ho’s
And why Santa’s little helper is all aglow
Because she is the latest of Santa’s ho’s
In her green woolly panty hoes
Pixie shoes with turned up toes
Her outfit held together with velcro
Everyone in the grotto knows
Santa gets inside her pixie clothes
And fills her stocking, ho ho ho

Grotto of Dusk

The hearth of
russet swirling
down the red pool,

cascading into the
drenched heath of
silhouetted blue.

Rivulets of brimming
dark curves trotting,
along the spires of
veiled hues.

The sabre palms
brooding in sober
silence.

The groping stream
gazing over the lore
of the vivid sand.

Hell Hound Grotto

In this valley they try to feel
A world their life finds surreal
Thinking of eating their next meal
In this place to live, you must steal

Lonely they stagger in this land
Holding a dagger in each of their hand
Eyes focusing on each other
They act like enemies and yet they are brothers

They live together
But die alone
Nothing gets better
From the
