An autodidact
I fathered many patents
I was born a slave
U.S. railways I designed
I stood tall until my grave
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
He once was a Teacher of mine; On Paper he was ment to teach Maths... But in reality, this man just Preached Christ!
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
We only met a few times; Around 28 years ago... I hope he's doing all right!
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
he wouldn't remember my name - or recognise my picture, or my face, in any frame.
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
I was struggling at the time, Sent to adult college young - I couldn't cope with School life..
Has anyone Met Cyril Redhead?
I only showed up a few times,,
A Truant dealing with bereavement, and Drugs - my Father had died...
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
He taught me at Granville Road... I remember none of his Maths! But remember the Truth - Cyril spoke.
Has anyone Met Cyril Redhead?
This servant of God I once met! His message was just to treat Others - How YOU would like to be treat!
Has anyone met Cyril Redhead?
Does anyone hold this man dear? He showed up and taught me a lesson - then Poof! He just disappeared!
There was a light once shone in you,
like the softly glowing fireflies,
on sultry summer nights;
in Granville, Tennessee.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
There was a song once came from you,
in melancholy Gaelic hues,
on each Fall’s golden morn;
your fetching siren’s call.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
There was a touch once passed from you,
some tiny flaxen butterfly,
that brushed against my lips;
and took away my breath.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
There was a you that I could feel,
each time we looked or met awhile,
two souls entwined in love;
that ever would be bound.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
Two souls entwined in love;
that ever would be bound.
Before the shadows crossed your way.
“In Loving Memory”
It is the language within me that must transform, Lucky number seven, she used to say, “I bore seven children,” with the birthing help of — your grandmother, Ellie. seven signed birth certificates
Today, the seven of us find solace, Knowing she rests in peace. Each holds a personal memory of our mother, Some days were rough, but we persevered.
Seven small bowls, seven cups, seven spoons, A chorus of voices would call out: “Maymay,” “Esther May,” or “Granville Clarke’s wife.” Through tears and aching hearts, we celebrated her.
She taught us strength, resilience, and hope, In her native tongue, she’d say, “Don’t follow patterns; think for yourselves.” Unique interpretations blossomed within us.
Favorite colors eluded her, Yet I grant her the power of black. Her laughter was music, her smile—sunshine, In her presence, troubles dissolved.
Now she’s gone, leaving an irreplaceable void,
Rest in peace, dear Maymay,
Your words will forever shine bright in our memories.
I passed a store that just sold brooms
On Granville Isle, B.C.
Two sisters weave them in Vancouver
For their company.
I marveled at the many styles
In varied shapes and sizes
That many folk no longer use
As home life modernizes.
I rarely use a broom myself
But, swept up by temptation,
I bought a mini version
As a kitchen decoration.
The Deli On Granville
I lived in the attic back then,
and late those evenings I had to study
and couldn’t afford to go drinking
I’d run down to the deli and buy
bagels and smoked lox.
I’d watch the lame son
wrap each item in white paper
while his father, coughing at the register,
pointed to the cans on the wall
and screamed, “Serve yourself! Serve yourself!”
I’d grab a tin of baked beans and he’d smile.
Now, years later, I return to the deli
and find that it’s closed.
The sign on the door confirms
what everyone else already knows:
There has been a death in the family.
