Nine Inch Nails play Handel’s Messiah
Gauguin paints Guernica bare chested
war poets fall in love with what never was
a Gingko tree blossoms at Hiroshima’s swords
into ploughshares condor legions into peace doves

cacophony synaesthesia proverbially composed

GLORIOUS FALL

Fall’s the time of year I can hear,
whispers of warmth retire.
Watch trees undress their fiery hues,
branches shed … their attire.

Sun ignites all of Fall’s glory,
those beyond falling leaves,
Ones that paint abstract ground cover,
over … the roots of trees.

Walking beneath Golden Gingko
kicking up it’s gold leaves.
Not lady like way, walk to work
kicking leaves … high as knees.

Harvest moon celestial gleams,
in Fall ... back lights my dreams.

Premium MemberFrom the Kitchen Window

The burst soapsuds dissipate.
Six doves outside my window
Enjoy their meal, congregate.
Wings whirr, head to the gingko

Baby phoebes see surroundings.
With wide mouths expose tastebuds
Hunger each day compounding!
I look, then see burst soapsuds

So much happening outside my kitchen window view that I forget the dishwater is getting cold and chores going undone.

Front door

The turning key clicks
A vacuum sound as door pulled
All of nature's cold air explodes
A rooster crows

Flood of sounds

A woodpecker is feeding on a post
Silly bird, like dynamite booms
That sound is heard
Doesn't slow other birds

The doves coo
Crows caw their warning
Mockingbirds realize it's morning
Sparrows too busy eating to rue

Spring color

Spring green tender leaves
Weave a delicate quilt
Oak tree's chartreuse tassels
Offer a different gilt

Maples' tender leaves in guacamole'
Redbud leaves are in still in bud
Poplars beginning in forest green very slowly
Gingko has no show but it's no dud

In-between

The kitchen hub is busy
Breakfast prepared but simple
No time for a morning tizzy
Baked banana and date-nut bread nimble

Then I sit and rest a spell
Upon pain and trouble do not dwell
I think about God, Who loves me still
And wonder do I do His will?

God granted me a reprieve
From life's mundane daily needs
By sending a family of Chickadees
To take a bath as they please

In the birdbath outside my window
They splashed and splashed in splendor
Far from the still green slender gingko
Former beauty of spring's moments tender

Just a little reprieve in my kitchen
Where so often as I have mentioned
My time spent where no one pitched in
Soaking in beauty of God's which strengthened

Blue bells rang at the fields of Flanders and beyond

Orange agency denuded humanity down to the core

Purple Hearts were pinned to hearts full of murder

White phlegm oozed unnerved devilish contagion

Green bile slowly trickled away from soul’s conscience

Yellow sun vanished in a cowardly mushroom cloud

One day after the bomb a Gingko tree blossomed

At the black epicentre of fury’s mission accomplished

The pallet of destruction shadows all pigments of peace

As red poppies continue to seed on bone meal and skulls

Feeling Rough

Feeling Rough

Sore throat, runny nose,
Could be a cold I suppose,
Or could it be influenza?
I think I need a detox cleanser

Turmeric, folic acid, gingko leaf
I'm feeling rough beyond belief
High B.P. and heart attack
Been called a hypochondriac

Gout in toe, earache
I never know what to take
Rheumatism in both knees
That Ibuprofen gel seems to ease

All my ailments could fill a page
My greatest one is called old-age

Sunlight In the Misty Morning

sunlight in the misty morning
cool breeze blowing your smile my way
the quiet of the young day frees my mind with no warning
all i can do is chuckle and sway

the love i feel for you is like frozen time on gingko bilboa
i cherish every moment of your walk to me
you remind me of the definition of forever over and over
the repetition turns to precious diamonds with each time that you talk to me

Deciduously

You did not want to play?
into the strength,
of the other.

Wrecking the pecking order,
to become poorer,
giving away your entire height ?

I could live,
without your blasts, O sun,
but I need my moon,
for whole night.

It pervades,
the dark matter, in every pore.
Like gingko tree
I will drop all the pretentions
tonight, and become leafless.

Ode To Matsuo Basho

I find you in an old silent pond,
The imagery you've left will outlive all,
With nature,your immortal bond
You will stand like a kiri tree tall.

You, the gem of haiku,
Your name be echoed in Fuji's peak,
Mogami river shall chant your lines
Your praise be sung by the Cuckoo.
The rivers and the oceans shall seek
To preserve you in their shrines.

The Cherry trees bow in thankfulness
Pines remind of your gingko walks,
Spring departs,autumn smiles in happiness
The rivers, the winds and the clouds.

Though time fades away, deem all out,
You shall remain in greenness of nature
Forever alive and forever young.
This word-wreath be bestowed
Upon you and your name shall feature
In the valley and ocean shall chant your song.

Autumn Better In Theory Than In Fact

Autumn Better in Theory Than in Fact

By Elton Camp

Love of autumn many will opine
Some changing leaves do look fine

The gingko and the maple tree
Are the best colors I can see

But truthfully, when I look around
Most of the leaves simply turn brown

To praise, a special poet it does take
Surely one who doesn’t have to rake

I have to work very long and hard
To remove them from my yard

Knowing beyond any possible doubt
Next day, more will be scattered about

It makes the choice easy to understand
Why some build houses on treeless land

So as to glorious fall leaves I must say
I wish that green, all year, they’d stay
