Gary Cooper Poems | Examples

our hero has arrived

OUR Hero Has ARRIVED
When we were children playing in the street
we had our hero, usually a rugged actor
perhaps it was Gary Cooper. He had to be tall
walk with a swagger
To be able to do things like flying a plane, drive
a car, horseback riding a must
There was Mars, a planet we spoke of mainly
because it sounded warrior-like
We knew Mars was the planet our hero would
go to Mars sorting out the people, there would
be a shot out, he won easily despite a bullet hit
his sheriff shield
When landed back on earth, spend time with
us teaching us how to tame a wild horse
what do you know?
among us here and now, let me present our
here of yore was not fantasy, Elon Musk!
He lives or dreams, a hero who can do anything
a beautiful mother who doesn't shout at him
for not eating porridge and sardines
He lives our dreams, and best of all, he is going
to Mars and slay the dragon
Elon Musk is a living example that dreams
can become real, lamentable, it took too long
most of my contemporaries have gone to Valhalla
or for those who became sailors on
the island of Saragossa

DAYS OF OLD 30's

We had;
Interlude and
of Mice and men.
   A star is born and
Gone with the wind.

   A child bride and
The Wizard of Oz.
   Cocaine Fiends and
Sweeney Todd.

   The Jaguar and
The gay divorcee.
   The Marx brothers
And the Maserati.

   79 Park Ave and
Mannequin.
   The Porsche and
Erroll Flynn.

   The Rolls Royce and
Curly top.
   John Wayne and
King Porter stomp.

   The Packard and
Hilo Hawaii.
   Gary Cooper and
The Bugatti.

   Frankenstein and
The Alfa Romeo
   The Fiat and
Abbott and Costello.

   The BMW and
Eternal call.
   The Lone Ranger and
All creatures great
 and small.

   The Bentley and
Agent Carter.
   The Green hornet
And Days of Honor.

   An Indian summer
And The Duesenberg.
   Greta Garbo and
The Thorn Birds.

This classic Western, stars Gary Cooper as Will Kane, a newly married man whose wife is a Quaker pacifist. The murderer-outlaw is coming into town at noon to kill his nemesis.

High Noon

The whistle of the train, threats coming soon.
Kane’s courage off the track on honeymoon.
The church, filled with chickens.
Kane’s alone - plot thickens.
Outlaw avoided noose, now dies, at noon.

Gary Cooper cocked his gun
And pointed it at everyone
He aimed to shoot Frank Miller
A cowboy and a would-be killer
Of Amy, Gary Cooper's loved one.

A Poem For Gary Cooper

What a handsome actor you are,
You have very beautiful eyes.

Your slim good-looking stature,
The many roles you caressed with excellence.

The leading women that were blessed to act with you,
I wished to be an actress at one time.

Happily married with children,
How nice to see you act on screen.

And to become one of the great performers of the century,
I would wish to be the Marlene Dietrich of your life.

Just discovered you one day,
The magic of acting exists.

God blesses us with good role models,
I wish I could stand in line for your autograph and shake your strong hands.

I like you in your cowboy suit and hat,
May God bless you and yours.

High Noon

The two men stood in the dusty street,
it was inevitable that they should meet,
suddenly one of them slumped to his knees,
justice had provided one of life' s certainties.

The Marshal strode towards his adversary,
kicked the gun on the ground away slowly,
I went to a party and met a Chinese lady
who phonetically was called High Noon.

She joked about Clark Gable but I told her
that actually it was Gary Cooper, who
recenty had been given a lifetime achievement
award for being such a great trooper.

We met again and so I asked her 'how?'
I said that it must be nearly two o ' clock by now.

The Trap

The Trap

This the first dream, know I’m asleep but don’t
want to I try to wake up but cannot move.
Injured by panic I try to move but my body will not
obey me immobile trapped in my body.
Open your eyes, try roll onto the floor grasp, try
touch the wall, there is no wall space is intense.
Finally I get up walk into the living room, but sleep
Is like a boa constrictor around my neck
I fall and fall through the endless universe, fly too
but not to where I want to go.
Pain has awoken me, I see light it is dawn and
walk on to the terrace, another narrow survival
Over the ridge I spy the sun, my only true lover
and I sing a tune from a Gary Cooper movie: “Do not
forsake me, o my darling…”

Premium Member My Cowboys

Gene Autry, Hopalong
And Tim McCoy
Waved goodby to me
As off into the sunset they go

Wild Bil Elliott, The Lone Ranger
And Tonto were there
As we sat around the campfire
In the night air

Gary Cooper, John Wayne
And Johnny Mack Brown
All of them were serious
Not ones to clown around

Fess Parker, Loren Greene
And James Arness
Knew that next week
We would be their guest

After the movies
We'd rush right home
Get on our horses
And relive the show

But oh how my heart did sing
When Joel McCray
And Vaughn Monroe
Came on the screen

You see all of these men
Were heroes to me
Until that night on the H bar T spread
When I told Billy Beer we would be wed

And That is another story !
