Deion

a frozen rope
the metaphor inflames, excites our hope
but we've had a shortage of freon
ever since the days we helicoptered in Deion.

Magic Beans

Chew beans?
BLUE jeans

Chew grass?
Cow gas...

*Cows and other livestock cause 18% of the damage to the ozone layer; ranking 2nd only to carbon dioxide…Freon from air conditioners, etc. contribute far less than either of these. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that livestock do NOT include beans in their diet...THAT would indeed be a case of:

Tragic
Magic...

Free Cee Coffee Colored Clouds

COFFEE COLORED CLOUDS

I remember a time of damaged days
And nights of a negative nature
I recall those years of woeful ways
And an era of negative nomenclature

First those days spoke bright as neon
Every coffee sunrise glowed like her eyes
But then those days turned into nights of Freon
While cloistered coal colored clouds were claiming the skies

She’d offer me a cigarette with grace and aplomb
But doom often blooms where beauty once grew
Alas love begot a bride of anguish with ambiguity as her groom
While crooked Christians prayed in a putrid pew

Christians praying while unholy flames were fanned
Somewhere on a secluded and sun-bathed beach
Their prayers dissipated in a labyrinth of a lonely land
While the moon vowed me magic well out of reach

So let me recap for those who were otherwise distracted
There were damaged days and negative nights
Time was filled by a woman to whom I was far too-attracted
Until disaster duly devoured such delicate delights

My Toyota Tercel

Terry, as I called him, was ten years old when I bought him
No power steering, that, I could handle
No air conditioning, now that was a shamble
I tried fixing his air, but he said no
He drank all of the freon and said let's go
With my head out the window, we drove along
One day the brakes went out, and when he finally stopped, I walked home
I reluctantly put him up for sale
because he was my first car, my toyota tercel

Amphibians

How much lower could I go?
How much more could I take?
Hadn't I had my fill,
my share
more than my share?
And you held my head underneath
the water in the wooden trough
you, gestapo god
and by christ
you did not let me
come up for air.
You willed me to be a new thing
an aquatic creature
gilled and with a cold cold heart
through which beat the freon
that was the inguement of your
universe.
You left me for dead in the trough
this new terrible thing
neither human nor emboweled
with a soul of its own.
You didn't have the decency
to leave me in a goodly sized pool
in which I could stretch my fins '˜n
flippers and relax a moment
and glom sleek-bottomed
tadpoles metamorphosing
into another kind of life --
Amphibian....

We're just another
fire alarm for you, ain't we
tripping off warnings of the coming
apocalypse --
I hear many bells and alarums
all over the world --
you took my sight,
and my speech
but you left me hearing
goddamnit
and a watery
life in death
set to a soundtrack
filled with music that's
little better than buzz saw
noise
from a new
generation
I can understand
only too well -
The Damned.
Amphibians.

Freon the People!!

this won't make any sense to anyone not around (and awake) in the 1960's

"Freon the People!!!"
you heard them cry,
against political oppression,
and I wonder why....

These Fascist rulers,
of simple folk,
drive us to rage,
and violence they evoke...

we want our freon, ......
and we want it now!! (thanks Jim!)
you banned it, why?
and this we vow....

it's too hot in my car...
my A/C is shot
you tell me that,
fix it, I may not!

someday we'll take over,
and you will find,
we'll put you in..
the hottest jail cell
you'll lose your mind...

soon enough we'll hear...
your cries of pain....
about no A/C
but we'll refrain,
from caring about
your silly plight
and smile in satisfaction,
as we go to sleep at night.
