Forward pass changed the game
Offense was never the same
Overtime rules continue to change
Tackling though can limit the range
Blitzes can really shut it down
Audibles can turn it around
Linebackers can do it all
Linemen are the heart and wall
It’s half past two on Friday’s waste renamed;
This new one soon will be another slain;
Evolving backward goes a victim blamed,
Where I, as they, do I the same retain.
Approaching three, the night of morning still,
Still on the couch I shall continue on;
A Texas winter spurs a muttered chill,
But I am blanket bare and can’t respond.
At half past three, today, the Texans play.
We’re gonna ground the Jets (not football’s best).
But if I watch the game on Saturday,
God knows that Sunday wouldn’t let it rest.
So what I’ll do to stay a forward glare,
Is pass the game tomorrow through a mirror.
12/15
The noise woke up my husband,
A banging on the glass -
A robin at the window
Like he held a forward pass.
He tried again repeatedly,
His desperation weird;
With flapping wings, like in “The Birds,”
Quite crazy he appeared.
We hung a scarecrow and a witch
(Some Halloween décor)
Across the pane to scare him
But he kept on like before.
I wondered if he’d rouse the troops,
Like Hitchcock, to attack,
Though just one titmouse showed
And he flew off, not coming back.
At last the robin gave it up,
Yet we will never know
Just what it was inside our house
He really wanted so.
When Jill was asked to create a “Pie Chart”
She believed her teacher meant a la carte
Using a Lego set
Jill felt her goal was met
When she finished, there was not one spare part
Her project resembled a Ferris Wheel
Huge peach pie in the center of the reel
And her passenger carts
Were scrumptious cherry tarts
But Jill’s effort had an Achilles’ heel
She took care bringing the pie wheel to class
Some oohs and ahs her project did amass
But the wheel in motion
Caused quite a commotion
Pies flew to faces with a forward pass
Kids didn’t mind as they ate the remains
But most of Jill’s friends had custard for brains
A class pie fight ensued
And Miss Bigbutt so shrewd
Gobbled crumbs citing eminent domain

Just like football I am waiting ,
on the side line,
To go up on the field,
Yes we are playing Goodooga,
Aboriginal big guys, tough as steel.
Here comes Albert racing faster,
Trotting down the bloody wing,
Gotta stop him, take him head on,
Hit his ankles, the hurting thing .
Fell him like a big old tree,
Pot belly lands on me ,
I’m a still a seeing stars,
Shadow sparring,
all round me ,
Get up you silly Galah.
So there I was out on the wing ,
Waiting for a pass to me.
Intercept, Albert's a coming ,
he passes ball, dodges see .
Just a few of broken arms,
Black eyes worn with pride.
Rugby Leage what a battle ,
Carry the ball through the other side.
Running for the other goal,
Sidestepped Albert, got there see.
Not a bloody forward pass, (illegal)
Planted it between the trees.
At 17 I was in an interstate game,
between Dirranbandi n Goodooga, we lost. (shame)
