SUN’S LIGHT
The glorious sun,
From your dazzling eyes
Its light borrows
Plus
All of its splendid warmth,
Don't let your eyes be saddened,
For
Cold and darkness will follow,
From south to north!

Andrea was late - drove at the speed of light
Traffic cops chased her - she got such a fright
The cop got out his book
Gave her a stern look
She’s off to traffic school so she now gets it right

Your hair trembles, so do my heart, your hair like the wheat farms in the april wind my heart like leaves in autumn.
Your lips are burning, so do my heart, your lips like the sun, red with emotion, mine like a corpse, awaiting for the ocean to hug.
Your hair is yellow, so do my heart, your hair like sun flower sepals my heart like the face of an ill.

Below deep snow snug and cozy,
Waiting for winters final bow,
Miss black eyed susan,
Pokes thru nosey,
Her face to love kowtows,
I Rescue her from the nights chill,
Her beauty will not be still,
In my vase,
On display,
She sheds a single tear,
A cry of thanks and not of fear,
"I love you Susan",
She knows this girl is sincere.

She smiles and laughs with delight
When daddy squeezes her so tight
Excitement glows upon her face
Expressing pleasure at his embrace
This world is her happy place
Joyous enthusiasm she doesn't lack
Autism doesn't hold her back
Zany antics but words are few
Zeal for exploring all that's new
You are the light we wish for you

Lips puffy
like kids in snowsuits
Cellular layers of passion
Dramatic curves
like red apples
But soft
Moveable
Sensory organ
pulling me near
small parachutes of matter
Smooth corners on the track of NASCAR racing
Telltale signals of attraction
gravitational skin pull
that sends me spinning
all the same

The apples in the tree I looked after
With intense love for the leaves and the fruit
We loved to see each other in laughter
When down we would together play our flute
The rogue storm that night sneaked in like a brute
Plundered pink and purple fruits one by one
My love along with my honour was done
Now when I visit the tree everyday
It’s gut wrenching to see the skeleton
Empty bubbles are my April and May

Expressive words flow like the sweet sound of a stream,
a natural curiosity about thee makes my brow rise,
pebbles mimicking rocks falling gracefully so make me tremble,
clouds wondering like cotton candy looking so heavenly above thee,
water so delightful yet cold and reassuring of a beginning,
ambient sounds of water flowing into a symphony of meditation preludes of this, that, here,
relaxation of the stream makes more than one's day and night,
wrist moving and flowing with words like thee downpour of the stream,
where to start with a message and where to end with a phrase for it's the beginning of National Poetry Month in April

YELLOW
Hello,
was afraid of the colors;
Loss and alone;
Sat down before you;
Rainbow;
Father,
Son,
adored you;
I wanted to be known
I wanted to know you;
In the garden too;
As I sat in front of you;
I viewed, I wanted you;
Stop, slow down, no ambers;
Words, colors, dwarfs;
Rainbow garden so I pick you blessed, so hello...

A queen was born on this special day Hardworking with ambitious
Independent strong and very highly motivated
She is someone that is for sure prestigious
In her own words she can't be predicted
Happy-go-lucky with a sprinkle of craziness
Gentle to the touch gracious and all around graceful
For her presence in my bubble is the coziest
She's like cheerful daisy the symbolism of April
My addiction one that's more dangerous than any drug
I labeled her as my most priceless treasure
A miracle that's been searching for but never found
My guardian angel whom which I'll take measures to be with forever
If you were to be a chapter in any story you'll be the prologue and epilogue
For everything begins and end with you

I'm Looking For You
By Herold Osmond Owoseb
I have longed to see the sea but never felt the breeze
I have been in the desert but never felt the heat
Back and forth I go around
searching for a place of refuge and shelter
I'm empty inside but have plenty outside
Have a lot to live for
And little to wish for
Yesterday, today the emptiness dictates
I've done phenomenal things; but still haven't found the joy
Have seen many places but still haven't reached my destination
Mountains I've climbed and seen the top
But still that void remains
Now I know that only you can fill my emptiness
A space been here for too long
And for you my heart keeps on; hoping to find rest
I've found myself but I'm looking for you

Together and forever
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB
It’s a dark starry night with the stars shinning bright
In the stillness I hear my heart speak
It searches and finds itself in need of something
My heart it longs for you
So many things I try but still my heart cannot hide how it feels
Across the oceans it is known but still I hope you really know
That my heart desires you and only you
Forever to spend, forever to share with you
Sometimes I wonder why the sun only comes my way
And the night falls on your side
But one thing remains
Something as true as my existence on this earth
My heart will go on; to love you and only you
Till the sun will shine on both of us
Together and forever we will walk, in the midst of the sand
In the land of our birth and we will sing this song till the end
I adore you; I will love you
Forever the same
Both in summer and in winter
As long as time keeps running beside me

Seriously, I will stress I am NOT leaving Poetry Soup, I have a lifetime PM and I intend to use it until I can no longer pick up my pencil. I am just taking some much needed time out to focus on getting my poems into a book. It has been my intention to do this since I left work in 2016 and now the time is right for me to put my plan into action.
I will be dropping back from time to time to read some of the amazing poets here and to make the odd comment

The most beautiful girl in the world.
Have you seen her?
The most beautiful girl in the world!
I have! And she is a wonder to behold
She stops traffic, no need for police
She lights up a room, she's that electric
She shines brighter than the brightest
diamonds and pearls
She's the most beautiful girl in the world
There's nothing that compares to her
nothing else to look upon, to gaze upon
for she is the sole possessor
of all the beauty that exists.
Her smile, her kindness, her grace
entrances, mesmerizes, paralyzes
Have you seen her? I have!
To be close to her for a moment
to catch a glimpse of her elegance
is all that is needed to take your
breath away, and once that is done
you can die in peace
as you are breathless anyway.
Have you seen her? I have!
Now there's nothing left to do
but to wait, until she appears again
So ...I'll just stay here...waiting...
contemplating my
vision of loveliness
my wife.

It’s like that, you know,
To find exactly what you’re looking for,
Even when you swore it would be no more,
It’s like that, you know.
You might think I wasn’t born to love you,
But be sure I wasn’t born to lose you.
I know you fear that I might hurt you,
But I just want to be a fool for you.
It’s like that, you know,
Even if you don’t know that you’re all I’m looking for,
The rest of them are leaving,
But I ain’t leaving you.
There’s a line behind your days,
But I know they’re all mistakes,
You need to know all I want,
is to be at your side.
And it’s like that, you know,
You have to hurt to learn to love,
And even be with the wrong someone,
But it’s alright, you know.
I told myself I wouldn’t rush in,
But I’m eager to see,
What our days could be,
It’s like that, you see,
Perfect strangers,
smiling back at danger.
It’s like that, you know,
Two broken souls will mend a whole,
I wasn’t born to lose you,
And now, you know.

We lovers kissed as storm clouds rose and darkened early day,
Reunited again we held each other as storm winds made us sway.
Whispered winds swirled about as we lover’s sheltered true,
Softly caressing our bodies and blowing away the morning dew.
Slowly naked we did unpeel and pressed together in passions fire,
Kissing sweet and moving slow as lovers sing in personal choir.
Rain winds lap the cabin doors as if to condemn, defile, deplore,
As passion builds and cries aloud the storm outside rages more.
Beaded skins moved as one where words of love entwined our soul,
Enraging the storm it shook the world, two lovers lost within their role.
Breathless and teared, we clung to each other, till our bodies shake to rest.
The storms anger rages through and puts the cabins timbers to its test.
She leaves my side to meet the storm, naked, trembling. Such classic poise,
Opens the door and steps to meet the raging storm and its terrible noise.
It whips her body she cries aloud, claws her flesh and tugs her hair,
Yet stops as sudden and starts to cry its rain tears splash her skin so fair.
It gasps for breath at her beauty tall and brushes the hair from her eyes,
And leaves the world in silence now, except for its heart broken sighs.

When I asked my wife to marry me, ‘neath a golden moon,
I said I could not give her the moon and the stars, but,
“Each special day I will give you a piece of jewelry,” I said,
Then, jokingly, “When I am gone, you can wear your jewels
To the Caribbean and snatch up a younger, wealthy lover.”
I did not think I would survive her, being much older, so,
After she was gone, I opened her jewelry box and found
Her jewels—a lilac amethyst ring, a chartreuse citron pinkie,
An anniversary ring with a precious aquamarine, among others,
And, the coral necklace we found on the island of Barbados.
Born in July under the sign of Cancer, I had longed to find her
A ruby birthstone necklace, scarce and expensive as saffron.
On a road trip out west, we ran across an outlet jewelry store
Having a huge liquidation sale, and there, marked down, I found
Her a crimson ruby solitaire pendant as sparkling as could be.
We came home from Mexico with her oval watermelon pendant,
And a Mexican opal, lemon with a firing of iridescent tangerine,
Which she had carefully wrapped in a exquisite lavender cachet.
She had taken the money her father had given her before he passed
And purchased a beautiful pearl necklace--she wore it only once.

The first time that I
Saw you, I could not
Find the right words
To say
What I felt so deeply
Within my heart which
Outwardly on my face
Was now displayed
For the first moment
When I saw you, my
My mind was no longer
Mine
Finding as the seconds
Passed by quickly
I found myself losing
All track of time
I knew I would need
You near me, for it, felt
Like I would surely fall
And I was no longer the
Same person, for at the
First glimpse of you I
Was falling in love
I wanted to elude you
And time after time
I would surely try
For I never wanted to
To end up like a leaf,
Falling down from a
Tree branch up high
But you have captured
My fallen heart and
Your love would simply
Not let me be
I tried so hard to keep
Away from you, but our
Meeting was forsworn
By destiny
For the longer, I tried
To stay far away, the
Deeper would become my
Inner blues
And I found it harder to
Stay away because day and
Night I only thought of you
And the realization
Finally embraced me,
Informing my heart
Of its helpless plight
That only one option
Would be available to me,
I had to embrace your Love
To end my sleepless nights
And I sought you out
The next day diligently
With a fervent hope I
Could make you believe
That there would never
Be happiness in my life
Without your love always
Being a part of me.
April 1977, written
During the first week
I saw and met My wife.
