Diane’s dog Charlie is her baby; more than her son ever was.
He likes me better than Stewart did too, she tells me.
Charlie’s therapy appointments are on Monday.
On Tuesdays he has his nails groomed or his teeth flossed.
Wednesdays are open for luncheon engagements with other pups.
He gives me a break on Thursdays, Diane tells us. It’s my free day.
Friday’s are for Charlie’s aerobic and line dancing.
Saturdays he has yoga.
What’s Charlie’s Sunday schedule? I ask her.
Diane looks surprised that I asked.
We go to church in color-coordinated clothing.
I take him in a little matching case.
I should have guessed.

I'd like to thank you (you're so nice)
for all your well-reasoned advice.
Without you, I would sure be lost,
forgetting to be brushed and flossed.
I wonder how I got this far
without you, wisdom's superstar.
From everything that you have said,
you must think I don't have a head.
I am so very error prone,
dare I strike out on my own?
I would like to return your gift:
should you find yourself adrift,
I think the most practical advice
is to wear a coat if you see ice.
The ocean's cold. I hope you don't freeze.
Hold onto this anchor please.

Oh, how you brushed and washed me,
And lovingly dental flossed me -
How tragically you lost me,
When I was extracted from your skull
By an overzealous faerie,
Toothless, hideous and scary,
Who from kids like you, unwary,
Snatches denture teeth, which he can cull.

"The Muses"
Allusions
camouflaged confessions
I have read them all, each page
envelopes emptied
turned inside out
pockets of Poésies
they sprinkle their messages
like confetti, minds popping
like corks, frothy and overflowing
some kind celebration
cupped and bled
stories of fairy-flossed confection
the sugar compote
cooked in the head
before dreams
are laid
and set
I have read them all
envelopes emptied
inside out
Allusions
all skipping
the fine lines
locked and open
all sentences
of the muses
a musing
Candide Diderot. ‘24
"I found a grave
Brushed off the face
Felt your light
And I remember why I know this place
I found a bird
Closing her eyes
One last time
And I wonder if she dreamed like me
As much as it hurts
Ain’t it wonderful to feel?
So go on and break your wings
Follow your heart 'til it bleeds..."
allusion. n.

Blood tells you a Lie.
Its dirt will, strip you clean
Its teeth rip out your beating heart
like a statue, you stand De robbed
cold in its shredding winter blast.
It deals out numb, gorges on your dignity
steals your guilt pecked last crumbs
leaves them hanging on your feeble trust
like dissolving icicles mingled and minced
in your candy-flossed threaded mind.
You,mix,the details around in your
night sweat damp sheet silence
Cwtched up,too nighttime’s loneliness.
Pillows whisper advice for hours, they
deal a hand of confrontation, and calm pond
outcomes are known, from flown by past time
where you sat in a cold moons drip
wringing pale, nail picked caring hands
again shaping truths into clay happiness.
Sifting the grains that remain into
many wasted castles of sand, while
hours swim, Looking for the end game plan
but It does not come, morning does though.
The adhesive of blood, or genes produce
no repair, your left holding cupped hands
a smashed egg timer, Its grains spilt,
In the kitchen of your pain.

Rain has quieted down my plants today.
Some overgrown. Many fading away.
Her lilac petals is all over the ground.
She is still the healthiest tree around.
My snowball bush is pregnant with blossoms.
My oak as fresh as if she has flossed gums.
Grass so wet it is like walking in a swamp.
Fluff-tailed squirrels are having a romp.
Nature’s greenery in full force now.
Wonder of beauty is more than a wow.
The plant that arrived in yesterday’s box
Is a hiding place today for a fox.
Rain has quieted down my soul today.
God has arrived, and He is here to stay.

DISQUIETING
moonblued crooks stoneblack built
granite rough shadows sliced thin
adorned in fleece flossed films
drinking
sour grapes from acid cups
diced moon rinds with a
meagre shine
yawped vaunting thoughts of
nymphatic cold visions that
hold no pairing decisions
starving fantasies deplete
desperate food for thought
seagreened darkpurpled
dreaming we were perfect
and we were….
we didn’t hear or see
the fear
bubbles about to break
we rose with caution
toward the skies
and died
satisfied

My New Years resolution is not to make any more New Years resolutions!
I've made 'em in the past but they died on the craggy shoals of the Aleutians!
I'd swear to ease up on the vittles but I caught those scales lyin' to me.
I tried to curb my cussin' by usin' terms like gosh, darn and golly gee!
I resolved to be more courteous to other drivers and not flex my middle digit,
And be more patient with my kids when they wanted to squirm and fidget!
I vowed to take my dentist's advice and floss my choppers each and every day.
I flossed religiously but lost my religion leavin' my teeth prone to decay!
I promised myself that I'd exercise regularly in order to keep fit and trim,
But preferred lollin' in my LazyBoy with a beer sans goin' to the gym!
'Tis obvious when it comes to keepin' resolutions I ain't got much fortitude,
So I reckon I'll take my chances and not lock-in on any inane platitude!

Your tight-fitted, neon-pink top glows in the dark surf,
While your fluorescent G-string sparkles in my brown eyes.
Each, firm buttock, the well-rounded quarter of savory Roe,
My raised shaft in mock-tandem salutes each, titillating swivel.
Your silver bangles reflect the golden sun beams:
Your silver locket refracts steam from my eyes.
Your lubed pigments with drying sun strokes bind;
My doting fingers carefully brush refinished surface.
Your silky, ebony locks morph into a shimmering frock,
Availing breeze bristles thread-ends against my chest.
Your polished legs are flossed by the foaming tides,
Tethering to my brawny sinews, coarse hairs lather.
Your tiny, nimble feet sweep the satin granules;
The winnowed seeds tenderly fondle my arched heels.

My favorite sanctuary is the side porch where I would screen the horizon and
amble around to feel the wonder of this place--- robins trill in the morning ;a garden path leads to rows of flowers and plants. At any given day, the round table and brass chairs act as a breakfast nook, night party lounge ( with its cobblestone floor and collage of lights), and wide-open painting /writing room. Transparent glass hinged on French-style frames hangs above my porch with a bevy of orchids trailing below it.
My alone time to gather my thoughts and awaken all senses refreshes my soul in this abode.
Soft lights glitter through bench on porch
As moon carves a flossed line;
Words gather to arc hands’ torch
On brown pages, reclined.
Floral thoughts climb through patio doors
Where language reels around
The way mist floats like raindrops’ pour
Dipping odes wet, I drown.

Balmy summer air to southern climes doth repair
On horizon, blue azure panels shaded with smoky tincture
Silky, white fondue relpaced by pallid, silver hue
Fondling, summer breezes; gripping, autumnal wind freezes
Cooling waves react with fertile leaves; amber gown doth
retract
Nutrient-rich chlorophyll doth spill and sugary saps rill
Anon, doth ween a bright, colorful sheen
Golden crescents and cherry strobes with lobes iridescent
Rounded discs on Global Willow in creamy glaze mellow
Spiny-toothed, Red Oak leaves flossed with reddish-
green gloss
Sugar Maple stars bathed in a bright pumpkin lathe
Ovular Blue Beech blades are brushed with a brackish rust
Veins of Aspen heart umbrella bleed bright yellow
Pentagram lobes of Sweet Gum gilded with purple robes
After scintillating charade, garnished blades began to
fade
Leaves' life-giving juices the stout bough refuses
Nutritious store salvaging trunk doth score
The regal, shimmering gown now shriveling crown
A duller shade of brown on the crumpled folds redound
Last gasp, its withering anchor doth cast
Descending from mercurial splendor to mother natures
blender

It rattles and thumps around in my bones
Like a soft pillow
Made of diamonds
Crunching in my blood
With hobnob nailed cotton puff boots
You

It slaps and kiss-lings shudders its way through my head
Stomping around in my pulses raucous
With candy flossed lips
Banging and begging on thunder
Like a puppy

It squalls with baby tears
And squalls with hurricane storms
Lifting me up and throwing me to the floor
Where I rage spoiled kid in a tantrum
But still giggling behind loves dementia

Do I know what I am doing
Do I even know what I am writing
I feel like some joker, some Punch drunk on Judy
A glove puppet on which your hands turn me
Happily
Enslavery
In a quagmire of kittens
To suffocate and drown me
And oh so readily defend the butchery
Of a pineapple vodka slicing into my heart
A strange thing ice cubes swimming in the heat boiling there in
