Fledgeling Poems

Premium MemberThe Moral Compass

The bombs of justice overcome the bombs of terror
The drones of peace fight back the drones of war
Some gnostics claimed this world was the God’s error
I rather think about the error 404
The moral compass has not been updated
Since 1970s, it wiggles every way
According to the graphs the most outdated
Drawn from the dust of ancient blood stains
A bunch of modern noahs build new ark
Which in the fit of patronage they do
All gimmegrants and askers come to mark
Their presence in the nest of grand cuckoo
I was there too, but didn’t warble my requests
Thinking that come and go would do me better
Than if I’d stay as cuckoo fledgeling in that nest
I was mistaken, but it doesn’t really matter.

Premium MemberA Song of Spring

I hear the sounds of a spring brightening dawn,
As fledgeling birds from sheltering nests emerge.
A lone Blackbird’s singing lifts this idling morn,
A creature scuttering through the long grassed verge.
I hear a fox barking in the fading night,
An early bee droning through the warming day.
I hear breezes rustling in the morning light,
The slow risen hours of a full budded May,
I hear the symphony of the pouring rain,
The hiss as sudden watery puddles form,
Fast rivulets gushing through the gurgling drain,
Low grumbling sounds of a distant passing storm.
I hear the woodland stream sing its own refrain
And slow draughts whispering through the barn’s stored grain.

A Half Hour Garden Safari Recorded In Haiku

haiku
*********
a fledgeling starling
came to the pond to quench thirst
a koi carp jumped
-
no butterflies
a white tailed bumblebee queen
mint moths abundant
-
hen blackbird
feeding newly hatched chicks
wasps succumbed to rain
-
flower fly hovers
over greater speedwell
forget-me-not blooms
-
midges chance their luck
my white lilac turned to seed
bird cherries ripen
-
on my garden bench
recording observations
shirt off sunbathing
-
moss once roof attached
lay scattered on the footpath
spring storm has its way
-
a little cracker
a joy... birds shelling peanuts
the squirrels' hoard them

***********

Trump feeds the birds
then shoots or traps them... frugal
no a wicked man

Letter To My Guardian Angel

LETTER TO MY GUARDIAN ANGEL

Wast thou once a little lad-
A child with mild eyes that learnt numbers from counting stars?

Did thou dance to the divine chants sung to the Holy One when He chose
 thee to watch over me?

Wast thy limbs so frail a thing before thou didst learn the secret art
 of flight?
Wast thou scared of heights once like a fledgeling?

What was thy first lay on thy golden harp that made Lucifer stand
 aside down the pavilion?

Sing thou sweetly to me a lullaby like the owl does to the forest.
O that thou wilt sing my soul an ancient serenade like the night wind to the moon!

Hast thou read the book of about me -
The secret scroll with a seal that told my destiny?
And tell, are the words in rhymes?
Is the ink of molten gold sublime?
Dost thou covet the hair of my eyelids to pluck a wisp for thy harp?

Till thou come into my night dreams I'll sit here drunk with the
 strong wine of fantasy
and stagger helplessly into thy waiting arms filled with a million answers.

Snowflake

I watched the snow descend to earth
Attention sought as flakes give birth
Submit to all her majesty
Surrender clouded canopy

A freezing fox that runs across
The curtilage wild turkey's toss
A lofty oak tree hides raccoon
Two fledgeling birds lose their platoon

The strapping deer takes off in flight
See squirrels flee with all their might
An Owl concluding calls of whoo
The animals know to eschew

All happens when the snowflakes fall
Am spellbound by one flake or all
The memory each one contain
Unique like us and our domain

Snowflakes and animals I see
We all are different you and me
Is random chance it's proximious ?
Creation not dichotomous

Am thankful I could see this view
And freedom too believe it's true

Author's Note

Poem is in Iambic Tetrameter with an
aabb rhyme thingy. The story is basically
true. We recently sold the house I grew up
in, and the winter before was visiting and
looked out west and down were coming
large snowflakes. The animals we scurrying
about....it was dreamy.

Wild

Wanton and wild she whispers wizened
So delectably opaque she surrenders sated
Her fledgeling mind warbles tremblingly unblind
So altruistic so soothingly defined
Coloured adornment flames brilliantly in heat
So trembling and trying she walks until him she meets
