The Trickle of Wicken Fen

Blurred bushes rush by
Brain bends
Time out far across the fens
A solitary heron flaps
The pterodactyl lazy loads
A flyover of long strokes
Of reed brushes
Eels writhe
A dog trotting
Leaps across the dyke
A wand of estuary birds
Cast up from the land
Coloured sand vast across the morning sky
The power when it comes
Succumb
The trickle of Wicken Fen.

Out In the Fen

9/21/16

Spiderwebs
Close and far from water levels continuing to ebb

The skies overhead
Occasionally not blue, they red

Plants with broken branches and damage to the stem
Some of which too sickly to mend

I don't recommend
Getting caught up, and copying any trend

Be yourself instead
And if you're struggling, take care of business, don't go to bed

People killing over bread
And to sever all ties and threads

Chopped lumber up with an axe and wedge
By myself and with some friends

Out in the fen
Found a gem

Stood at the edge
Of many a ledge

Always swam and tread
Some races I lost and some I won, even though I hadn't always led

Many stayed meanwhile others fled
Near and beyond any kind of watershed

Been in the snow with and without a sled
Around a lot of turns and bends

Many made a pledge
Prayed and aimed for evil to be cleansed

Been happening and seen widespread
Conflict and bloodshed

Yeah I all ready heard what you said
Better watch yourself if you try that again

Wasn't all that difficult to comprehend
The difference of boys and men

Fen Blow 4

Fen Blow another blow to farmers and their workers,

as the wind joyously exhaused itself knocking the crops

for six, drying the land of nutrients that are coughed up as prices will

cause consumers to splutter as everyone to curse the damn dry wind in Spring!

Fen Blow 3

Lashings of wild wind wipe the smile off the smug fenland fields in Spring,

all geometrical order of all colours of the rainbow, with every colour of yellow;

jaundice danger once in this region and others in the days before the good old

National Health Service - NHS today. Today every baby tested for it to keep it away

as well as jaudiced opponents too of the NHS in throughout the whole of the UK.

Fen Blow 2

The soil sailed by the North Sea wind into road traffic all,

as oldies remember their parents, grand parents talk of

being transferred to England's little Dust Belt of the Thirties;

while the fast foreign labour surprised by the gentle English

weather getting annoyed with one and all, its just like home after all.

Fen Blow 1

The soil whiplashed by the 'nnoyed North-easter

into the path of 'nnoyed vehicles farmed and not,

as the daffodils bow in submission as is their nature,

while the clever tulips close their turbans to survive.

The Fen and Kingdom

Esthetic arts and ample wisdom
Upon a sullied fen and a gemmed kingdom

Sullied fen, how filthy you are!
Beauty has fled and is now afar

We seek wisdom, it is to be found
Not among what your grime surrounds

They left the fen, how selfish within
Here, the shallowness of mankind begins

If only they’ve seen the glamour it holds
Wisdom within, wisdom to unfold…

Wealth and gold, marvels of life!
Upon the kingdom’s crown were rife

It lay somewhere among the attire
Yet it was neither wisdom nor satire

O kingdom it was wisdom you claimed!
One your prosperity and wealth have tamed

Beguiled they were by the gilded reign
They now believed it was wisdom’s terrain

They have failed to see, How shallow is sight?
Beauty has just demolished insight…

“Insight is beauty… Beauty is not insight”
