Faucets Poems | Examples

Horrible Places

The water from these sinks is cloudy.
Everyone is,
Creeping around.
Faucets leaking.
I could have fixed everything.
Horrible places like this one.

Horrible places.
When I wake up.
There are more.
Every speck of light out there?
From headlights to storefronts.
Close my eyes and see map dots.
I could be in a worse place.
The faucets are leaky in here.
They told me it’s fine.
Dripping drool in my sleep.

When I wake up?
I wish I could sometimes.
It’s cold in here.
My breath is more breathless than usual.
As if there’s no sleep left in the world.

She handed me a cup and a handful of pills.
Sleep, or don’t.
She shrugs.
When I wake up.
She’s gone.
An empty cup is by my bed.

The water in the showers is probably rusty.
You can’t see rust in the water.
But it’s in the pipes.
It’s on my hands from turning the faucet on.
I could have fixed everything.
But all I have now is a rust shower.
It’s in the pipes, and I can’t stop it now.

Everyone in here is creeping around.
Sluggish or floating.
None of the water here is fresh or safe.
I’m convinced.
It makes us worse.
But we drink, anyway.

Comet

My heart is bound with twin-distressed grommets
But every night I look up at the sky Waiting for a comet.

My eyes fixate and focus before they leak like faucets
And I glance up, I zealously try
To spot it, the elusive comet.

My fate seems tangled in spider webs
Where I'm the fruit fly awaiting demise
The anxiety flows, the panic ebbs
I hope I pass away before I realize....

Yes, I hope I die before I realize
Maybe the comet is never to come
It's Halley's comet I want before my eyes
And the outliving odds are zero to none....
...
My heart is bound with ever-loosening grommets
It feels ever so often, it's being taunted
But still I await, albeit halfheartedly,
I still await my comet.

INEEDAIR

Spaces filled with twisted views & useless opinions
Enemies dressed as friends, family and lovers
True friends cast in the shadow of anothers facade
The world blinded to their greatness
Flaws amplified by a thousand and one
By one to cover a thousand and one flaws
Told that I’m just a leaf in the breeze that hasn’t been let go
Shown that even your dreams will one day come along and unapologetically hurt you
Its my fault
Only after the flood...its all good while the faucets running
Water never bothered nobody that can swim
Sometimes drowning seems like winning
When surviving isn’t living
Breathing stale air dying slowly by my own poison
Masked before the necessity
inevitably
Now forced to be masked excessively
Not just physically include emotionally & mentally
Im hiding all of my rage behind the same smile that reeled you in
What worthwhile do we have left if caring becomes the sin

Premium MemberI Didn't Fix the Faucet

I didn't fix the faucet.  I didn't fix the door.
I had a little mishap going to the hardware store.
Now, I'm going to the fields where golden geeses lay.
In that land of Eden, they got no faucets anyway.

              faucets drip
                radiators rattle
              hinges creak
                dad’s in the saddle

              lights blink
                a/c blows
              stove’s aflame
                off mom goes

              shower’s cold

               true shalom

Premium MemberNo sound

On nights when she's away
I don't seem to care
what the world has to say.
I hear everything,
yet I hear nothing.
Crickets chirp, chirp
Faucets drip, drip
I can't seem to stop
thinking of her lips.
The wind ROARS.
The night whispers.
I feel so alone
when I'm not with her.
Frogs croak.
a horn goes off
down the street.
I want to lay
down with her
and hear the
Thump, Thump, Thump,
of her heartbeat.

Premium MemberAs the Misty Moon Rides High

Selene, the moon goddess, is on her duty,
With her silvery golden shaded face, she shines;
She's, lo, the ultimate perfection of beauty...!

Riding on her coach the zenith she has to reach,
The clouds like fine frankincense their aroma spread;
The celestial love and beauty she does outreach,
Radiance, on nature, like gold, does glory shred...!

"AS THE MISTY MOON RIDES HIGH" rains their faucets close,
The darkness of ignorance fails to cover her;
Kites and eagles as heavenly cherubim pose,
Elements of the world under and above stir;
Birds and beasts and trees and plants now new songs compose...!!!

Burn the House Down

You could fix up my shattered windows
Patch up the holes in the walls
Find a way to make the incessant creaking
Of the floorboards–hush
Make the faucets stop their aching
Drip…drip…drip…
New shingles
New doors
New cupboards and cabinets
Make my old bones feel new again–
What I really want
Is to be set ablaze
Ashes to ashes
All my flaws and failures
Gone with the strike of a match
Then and only then–
Pick up your hammer

Life is hard! The college coed said.
The finals were horrible, agreed her pal, Ned.
They signed up to go to a third world country for “fun”.
Chosen as number thirty, and thirty-one.

The plane ride was horrible! The college coed said.
No food at all, and the movie was dead!
They watched the African women collect water from a stream.
Where are the faucets? Indoor plumbing? They asked their team.

The African women had to walk ten miles a day.
At the age of seven, they had learned to give up all play.
Life is not so bad the college coed said on the way home.
They didn’t even have an I-pad or a cell phone!

Hang On

My country in Africa - though I am Indian in origin -
Lies torn and tattered, corrupt and corrupting
No water for weeks, only Mandela's Charity trucked in some (2 trucks today)
After a whole week of dry faucets. With electricity, there's LOADSHEDDING
Or rationing of power, so one must research the hours each day ...
And decide when to make coffee, or breakfast, beverages, meals -
Then we have loved ones frustrated: Just hang on. Pray. Ask God
Because no humans can solve the problems of arrogance of power
ANC: AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS, once light, now darkness itself!

Raining Grace

Week One of two with zero running water
Faucets are dry because of a labor strike
Corrupt politicians and unions in S. Africa
Frustrate! But Our Lord is a God of Grace
Our watertank (for roof runoff) is emptying fast
I asked a neighbor just yesterday
Is there rain in the forecast (he didn't know)
All night it rained, our Tank is near full again
Hallelujah and shalom shalom. Trust Him

Each Tiny Island

Snow hits the ground
with the temperature falling
Slick city streets reflect
shoes they have seen

Icicles form
on a frigid veranda
Dripping like faucets
somewhere in between

Go to a window
with curtains of satin
Pull up the sash
so that winter can see

Each tiny island
your mind tends to visit
When it is cold
where your feet seem to be

Premium MemberVisiting a Sunflower Farm

Their grinning heads cover the fields for acres
A sea of happy mini suns, welcoming us to Kansas.
We stare, amazed, having no idea this was possible.
There are photo moments and we take them all.

A gift shop sports stuffed dogs and cats,
With sunflower headbands and kerchiefs.
Everywhere we look a plate, cup, tumbler,
letter opener, Christmas ornament with a sunflower

This is sunflower hell my husband observes, so I send him to the car.
He can wait for me. I pile sunflower notepads and pens into a basket.
A lady wearing a sunflower apron, hat and socks smiles at me.
She gets closer and whispers. “Be sure and look in the bathroom.

Of course, I do and am not disappointed. Everything fancy.
Sunflower rug, sunflower chair, sunflower faucets.
I have to admit I was very disappointed by the plain white toilets.
Until I saw the sunflower toilet paper.

A woman carrying a child wearing a sunflower bib walks past.
“Where did you get it?” I ask her. She points.
Good! Sale rack! A manager comes over and offers to hold my basket.
When I get home with the bib I remember my youngest grandchild is five.

Premium MemberMy Vast Fortune

Tasty home-cooked meals
A heater that works every time
Shoes that ease my neuropathy
  My collection of Mercury dimes

Glasses that calibrate my vision
Grown sons who consider my advice
A computer that responds to my touch
A car I don't have to drive so much

Faucets that don't run out of water
A closet of clothes that fit just right
Tulips and daffodils bloom in my garden
Graceful birds perform pirouettes in flight

A quiet residential street in front of me
More children playing than cars passing by
Leaves bursting out on tree after tree
The sun yawning, traverses a pastel sky

Friends sound anxious to get 'out there'
They've an itch to wander and roam
As for me, I marvel at my vast fortune
The comforts and blessings of home

Escape From Thunder and Lightning

Escape from thunder and lightning,
Remain or stay in safe shelter;
And if you are out on the street,
Hurry up and run for cover.

Don't get out of the house at least
Half an hour after the last sound;
Stay inside the building until
The risk is nowhere to be found.

Keep away from powerful stuffs
Like computers and corded phones;
Never be in direct contact
With these electricity zones.

Avoid plumbing, including sinks,
As well as the baths and faucets;
Run away from frightening harm,
Evade the nature's wraths and threats.

Stay away from windows and doors,
Remain calm beneath the ceiling;
Stay off veranda or porches,
Escape from thunder and lightning.
