Mr Nobody
Mr. Nobody is the one who did it,
Guilty as charged of accused crime.
Incredulous innocence looks on his face,
Mr. Nobody was culprit time after time.
It wasn’t me cried Mr Nobody,
Why am I always to blame?
Mother had eyes in the back of her head,
She knows perpetrators name.
Our house had several Mr Nobody’s,
No need of reproach or scold.
Who was the offender this time?
Two paces forward brave and bold.
Occasionally I was Mr Nobody,
Though cried my innocence in disbelief.
As the eldest often copped a clip,
Even when the youngest was thief.
Mr Nobody again screamed Mother,
All up the stairs now, early to bed.
Ignited by short tempered fuse,
It wasn’t me; it was my brother instead.
Remember when you were a kid
and you wish you'd gone and hid?
Mom gave you that look
from the corner of her eye
that said
you'd been caught in a lie.
With just one look
that's all it took
and you begin to cry.
With the narrowing of her eyes
that filled you with dread
making you wish that you were dead.
Then the look straigght down the nose
as her head rose
told you
in the story you're telling
you'd gone too far
and thought it
just a little bizarre.
How about when you were about to do wrong.
Something you know your not to do
With her head down
she'd look up at you
and her eyes would say.
I wouldn't do that if I were you..
Then there's that look
when you've done it anyway
and your're on the run
for it did say.
Now your're all done
and by the seat of your pants you'll pay.
The look I love most is the one
that came at the end of the day.
When she tucks you in bed
and kisses your head
her look would always say.
I love you child.
Not just for today
but always.
OOPS I forgot the eyes in the back of her head.
