Exhaustedly engaged in a losing battle
Relentlessly rowing with a broken paddle
Constantly convincing the judge in my mind
Passionately pleading for the flaws I find
Dreadfully driven to explain my side as true
Willfully wanting to show my point of view
Quite quickly I'd free, if only I could,
this thralling need to be understood
NEST
Tiny red bellied birds
Busy building a nest
on an electricity transformer !
The couple
Use rubbish of nearby
Cable factory
Pease of wires, cables
different sizes, and shapes
wing its way
Trapping in the sharp beaks
Irritable noise alarmed…
The couple
Exhaustedly
Sat a while on a wire, looking around
A little lad watching curiously
Asked,
What you funny birds do there!
She bird replied with a sorrowful mew
Because,
You’re voracious, merciless
And
Destroyed our lovely habited!!
Jayaratne Weerakkody
Strangers on the road
Ashes on the faces
souls melted with pains
but smiles on the lips
greeted each other
Arrows of April sun
piercing all through
but arrows of sights
deeper than the rays
searching souls endeavored
removal of curtains of bodies
Alas! found exhaustedly
can not succeeded
there is no way out for souls
to ooze out of bodies
and unite together
no earthly being can do
that may happen in heavens
two strangers on the road
with ashes on faces
wrinkles on souls
bodies scorched with rays
hearts bleeding with sights
departed
feeling no bond any more
His Lost Love
He wants her
He needs her
He says he loves her
But he can’t find her
He has searched everywhere
On foot, by car, plane and boat
But she is gone
She vanished without saying good-bye
No note, phone call or message of any kind
Her friends and family can’t help him
He vowed to never stop
He refused to except the possibility of the worst
Day in and day out he looked for her
He could smell her perfume in the air
He followed the scent but it wasn’t her
He heard her laughter carried by the wind
He followed the sound but it wasn’t her
He thought for a moment he had seen her far ahead
He ran to her but it wasn’t her
He ran exhaustedly around the world
He finally came to terms that she was gone
He had nothing left inside of him
He was run down and hopeless
He looked intently at the ocean and decided to give up
He jumped and allowed the waves to carry his frail body away
He is now in a deep sleep that he will never awake from
And there she is, his lost love
She puts her hand to his and whispers in his ear
“You found me.”
What have I to gain
From all my pain
Wasted years that have flown by
The regrets I hold in which make me sigh
The rationalization of possibly being a little to late
Knowing it was you who has always
Been my soul mate
What have I to gain
From all my pain
The wonderful memories that I hold dear
The thinking you would always be here
Moments pass time moves on
And it's for the past we long
What have I to gain
From all my pain
You
Oh how I wish all the time that were true
Yet I close my eyes at night
Then wake every morning
Still feeling so exhaustedly blue
I try always not to cry for you
But I do
My life will go on
I will push through
Even if I have to be without you
That's what I have to gain
From all my damn pain
In the evenings
was the rooftop,
swisher sweets and sometimes
something in particular.
say we were young
say we both knew better
play the saint, its O.K.
say that you felt it too
Was it not
the grooviest thing;
our outrageously shameless,
fist-shaking dream for two?
say we were dumb
say our heads were on backwards
kick it likewise to the curb
say you never let it go
Yes, we gazed with eyeless faces
off into the new blue,
embers ageless in an unborn sea;
exhaustedly raging against the hour.
say you went numb
say it with conviction
to an expatriate heart, surrender
say everything, say nothing
