Pie- in- the- sky,my eye

What do I see here? Is it something to fear?
It looks like a pie in the sky which I espy
Or is it a UFO which would be a blow
Out of the blue from a planet new
Could an alien be episcopalian
And in a state of grace though straight from space ?
Would my abduction lead to intelligent instruction
No ,it's just a black cloud amongst a white crowd
Is that line racist or more likely spacist?
Should I that line use?It is up to you to choose

Eisenhower was a tower of power 
    Nixon 'the Quaker Peacemaker' was dour

  Reagan had the grace of a Carl Sagan
    The Bushes were Christian Episcopalian

  How does Trump fit on this list
     Methinks he exists to make them pissed

God's Name

Is God Jewish, keeping kosher
and laying down the Law?
[Though the Israelite name 
was unpronounceable--no vowels,
because what human can truly 
speak the name of God....] 

Is God a Roman Catholic,
with an army of saints behind him?

Or maybe He's a Mennonite,
plainly dressed and plainly spoken?

Could God be a fiery Baptist,
reminding us that hell's torment 
is as real as heaven's joy?

Might He be an Episcopalian, 
soft-spoken, and all so polite?
[Though in England He would
say He's an Anglican, and have
a classy British accent...] 

Perhaps God is a Hindu, 
manifesting in 33 million ways,
or maybe He likes to be called 
Allah in the desert places?

What does it matter what 
God's name is, so long as
you seek Him, and know
you are not God...?

I have been reading Soul of America, 
Battle for Better Angels lately. What I 
like best about it is the descriptions 
of successful Presidents. Book is by 
Don Meacham who is an Episcopalian 
from Nashville and a current Professor 
at Vanderbilt University.

Makes no matter how long ago
Or now that God told us so,
Him for example we should use;
Never deny him or ever refuse;
Faces forever will glow and glow.
