Chrysalis

Chrysalis

I am but the chrysalis
A metamorphosis persists inside this
Catatonic kaleidoscope. Catastrophic emotions condensed in errant cope, energy collides in scopes, far beyond what dreams may hope, but wild wings may hope to soar evermore. Transformation takes time to tend to trends entrenched into one's own solemn soul, once severed, once whole

On edge of crevasse
splitting the whole from broken
I waver between—
weaving to escape phantoms
longing for where I belong

I mask all my scars,
with smiles etched on hollow masks
yet memory bleeds
too whole to join the broken
too fractured to pass as whole

To love life anew
to re-forge and re-ignite
requires confession
to those entrenched in shadows
that death now terrifies me

On the mended line
I'm spurned by the ones I left
unclaimed by the rest
scars reverberate the past
with no guide to where to go

Now my mends can shine
cracks repaired with molten gold
clearly on display
showing what's been can become
unashamedly mended

Premium MemberTrapped In Your Event Horizon

black hole lover

you are

and I,

a prisoner in your event horizon

an astral point of no return

trapped in perpetuum-

two captive hearts

wildly beating

                                  out of sync

time warps, distorts-

cosmic love strings

unravel, become frayed

beyond repair-

despair

the universe

expands then contracts-

entropy inevitable

so too our love-

white hot then space cold

destined to spiral into

insatiable cHaOs

A prisoner I am

in your

salaciously spun silken web

and you

the black widow

enticing me, luring me

until at last I am at your

mercy

pleasure and pain make for an

alchemic, euphoric mix

but prey must be

devoured in the end-

evil fangs penetrate

my flesh

the poison in my blood

entrenched

delirium before demise

still, with my

dying breath

I whisper-

more please

After the Storm

2025 Poetry Marathon Mile 10 Contest //Sponsored by: Mark Toney
( 3rd Place )

Written: August 23, 2025

The sky broke open, spilling light along empty streets,
and he went under its shelter, carrying the weight of every yesterday
as if each memory could still cleave to his shoulders.

Raindrops lingered on the pathway like strewn mirrors,
catching pieces of moments thought lost:
the eyes that believed, the hands that shaped him and the whispers of care that remain long after absence.

Every step ahead shuddered with uncertainty.
But still the world teemed with quiet promise.

He spotted small wanders--
the scent of wet earth rising,
a leaf twirling in a plash,
the soft pulse of life returning after darkness.

He stumbled, he faltered,
yet each fall shaped a different rising:
a reed that bends but does not break,
a step that carries forward still,
though the horizon clings to storm.

No one walked beside him
but still he felt the world breathe softly in his steps.

The storm had passed, leaving only light;
a silent endurance entrenched in every step,
a mellow voice that urging him to continue,
even when the track is yours alone.

A lone pattern in glow and gleam

Fear not the countless stars that light the sky,
For many naysayers still will deny.
Find them a place where they must stay away,
The clouds will part, your star will shine today.

Each star, a lone pattern in glow and gleam.
So nothing dims its light or halts its dream.
The clouds hold space to cradle your surprise,
For many reasons, your star has to rise.

Just know your star must shine despite the dark,
A mentor great in knowledge lights a spark,
Ignites a flame no force can quench or tame,
Its glow entrenched beyond all doubt or shame.

Let not the winds of fear obscure your way,
For dawn will break to bring a brighter day.
Hold firm to dreams, let courage be your guide,
With steadfast hope, your light will gleam and glide.

Broken Seals

He awoke from a dream within a dream
ruled by darkness
during the day
The night enlightens those that see the
streams & recognize
what's in the rays
We're in the days of prophecy where
night & day are coming together
becoming one
On autopilot they're in a daze still in
the dark & can't perceive
the shining sun
They paraphrase what was written
but can't copy what's seen
as real & true
The pen's authentic & what it inks
will show in time
when it is due
Bombs dropped behind the scenes
but can you see through
all the hidden acts?
We're fastly approaching some things
we haven't seen in our lifetime
& that's a fact
Dismiss the rumor of wars as a charade
for it's a fight for the all
of every mind
It's a spiritual battle that we're
entrenched & the whole of our
soul is on the line
I shine a light to open eyes so you
see what it is
It's Not A Game
Is it hard to see that the world is
a soft target & the object
of many aims?
They come with games for you to play
to blind you from the dirt
on loaded fields
You're on a minefield with closed eyes
playing by the rules
of broken seals

Forsaken

My spirit,
Incinerated.
Its ashes
Descend back into
That dark crater:
That inky opaque abyss,
Where the slightest din
Is swallowed,
Where that one fragment of light is asphyxiated,
Held down,
Stripped and raped from its alluring, golden iridescence.
It drowned in its own tears
And then scattered across its own grave.
They turn their backs
With apathy entrenched into their depths:
The reason for my oblivion

Unclaimed

Conspicuous
by his absence
Entrenched
in his abeyance
Condemned
in his reluctance
All feelings
askant

Forgiveness
but a carrot
From a garden
long estranged
Those closest
to his exit point
Bereft
— and unclaimed

Premium MemberMy World Has Changed

My world changed so fast
that it caught me off guard.
I never thought I would see,
the hate and pervasive bigotry
that exists in the world today.
And then, the internet came along
and shrunk the world to fit in your phone;
opening doors that were once closed.
But, at the same time
supplied every kook, grifter, charlatan, and conspirator
festering on the fringes of society, a bully pulpit;
to cater to a select audience of like-minded trolls.
Corruption, fear-mongering, peddling lies
and alternative truths,
are entrenched in our government,
entertainment, and news.
World War Three, which was once unthinkable,
is gaining favorability with the masses;
fueled by cultist propaganda and doomsday bravado
that spreads like a virus on social media platforms.
We are polluting the land, poisoning the oceans,
and brainwashing the minds of our youth;
without any regard for the truth.
I remember a time when people didn't lock their doors:
neighbors greeted one another with smiles and waves.
But today, I fear that we've been caught in the worldwide web
of a technological spider's electronic threads,
and sooner or later, we will be eaten.

Monster Mirror of Time

I can't believe you thought gore would make you sick
when you're the only one whos sick
craving to put a head on stick
you're ultimately deranged
purely full of rage
no longer afraid of pain
what are you anymore?
A mind-wrecked monster?
You want to brandish your claws and sink them into someone's throat
A crazed lunatic with a bloodlust always unquenched
And a mind so godd*mn entrenched
In the reality that time must persist
I am the monster that lurks within
searching for victim to forcefully end
I want to fight with time, draw my sword and stab it in the eyes
tear it apart layer by layer
I don't care who, for death will disturb the perfect flow of time
it will never stop so I will forcefully make it stagger
Just sit tight while I swing my dagger
You have no choice but to die
Time requires that all must not be alive
As you talk to the mirror
You refer to you as I
I refer to I as you
You are the lost soul who seeks the cure
I am the insanity that rests at your core
If we have to die, what's another life?
All it proves is that we have power over time
Once you have decided it's time end someone's life
You yourself have inflicted the curse of time

Clarity

Premium MemberSimple Style Statement

Time strokes the wrinkled canvas,
the ancient spider in twilight hour
weaves the senility web,
the empty eyes wander in the wasteland.
The hedonist psyche refuses
to gauge the grief of loss.
The face morphs into metaphor
for the past panorama dislodged,
captured in the snapshot
of the narcissist impulse congealed
in the portrait I make of me.

It’s made of latent lattice of delicate design,
lines on lines contour my body.
The vibrant epitome of expression align
with the pattern of unique look personified.
An insular captive of my mental making,
I’m an inimitable loner within me,
defined by the entrenched essence singular,
scared to face the crowded world.

I get driven by the self-obsessed urge
to uplift my sagging morale,
clothe the portrait with an apposite attire.
I open the sparse closet to select a T-shirt
with the walking punchline
“Be Brave, Be You” inscribed bold.
It makes a simple style statement
for me coming out of the lonesome shell.

"over the waters blue the night winds sigh, the breakers roar ... Samual Taylor Coleridge

In the enchanting emerald landscape,
the terrain undulates like the jade waves
in the panorama of pristine scene,
elegance of nature’s embrace entrenched,
shapes a serene lake of sapphire luster.

Sublimely sprawling and sparkling delight,
its glowing cerulean face looks up
toward the star-studded nocturnal sky,
entranced by its argentine reflection.

Serenading southern breeze blows beguiled,
whispers a mesmerizing melody
to ripple rows rolling with radiance,
dancing and breaking on the supine shore
with intensely fervent rhythm of rapture.

The golden glitter of the sunburst dawn
shines on the slithering shadows of trees,
lining the contours of the bending banks,
imaged on the fluid mirror tranquil.

In hypnotic shimmer of rising sun,
I watch the play of colors in the lake.

You Fell Like October Rain

You fell in October, like autumn leaves
Funny it was a hot day.
The avocado tree was budding.
I knew you only a short while,
But it broke me to see your mother cry.
She was inconsolable.
And I thought I was strong,
But my tears could not be kept at bay.

Your friends gathered by your side,
Oh what love they had for you.
Your lover had mourned all he could,
He was the strongest,
Not one tear.

They built you a house in the ground,
So they said.
They built you a bed, never to rise
So I said.
And in love they gathered around you.
And laid you in it.
That was the hardest,
Interred you in red loam.

And this was the finality,
Who would have known?
That your laughter would be so short,
Thirty and one years?.
They said we had to embrace death.
Even come to love and desire it.
He visits one and all.
His cynical finality.

It was hot and sunny today,
But you fell like October rain.
When heaven heaved in storm clouds,
As they entrenched you underground.
