Entanglements Poems

Premium Membertrue, true, true, true true

We’re just being ourselves
We’re not presenting ourselves
on a plate, commodifying ourselves.

We’re refined and pared-back—plain
but with an intriguing complexity.

We’re simple and indestructible,
our diasporic styles, assembled in a frenzy
by spontaneous instinct, need no audience.

You’ll find us in the coffee shops, the libraries
streaming and scrollin’ to unheard, noise-cancelled, beats
or in the bars kickin’—let the music play—I can’t talk much about it.

We’re not overly thought-out, sure, we ruminate, but then we’re
automatic rather than laboured, creative without overthinking.

We’re emotional and immediate, but clearly avoiding
slightly scurrilous condom entanglements—yeah
—there are reasons. true, true, true, true true.

Premium MemberI Choose Freedom

I am a free moral agent
I detest imprisonment
I abhor bondage
I reject life in the cage
I am imbued with the ability to choose
So I choose freedom
Freedom from political oppression
Freedom from economic oppression
Freedom from religious oppression
Freedom from poverty
Freedom from hypocrisy
Freedom to speak when humanity is in danger
Freedom to say yes when my heart means so
Freedom to say no when the world says yes
Freedom to be myself and nobody else
Freedom to stand on God’s authority
Instead of man’s majority
Freedom from demonic entanglements
Trials and temptations may come my way
But I cannot run away from them
Cause they speak strength to my life
I was born to be free
And so no impediments should limit my freedom

When we close our eyes and fall asleep,
dreams create a world tethered to our imagination:
where worrisome thoughts melt away like icicles
drip by drip.
And our subconscious
scripts our most intimate thoughts and desires.
Dreams are inked with raw feelings,
often underscored with vivid strokes of passion.
And our mind extends itself
to this tentative world
outside of emotional entanglements:
where hope navigates fate's treacherous waters,
immune to reality's rebuke.
Fantasy dreams show us what lies beyond
self-imposed doubts,
effectively expanding our view.
Like a dream, life is a journey of exploration.
We have no control
over its destination, or what course it will run.
We're all along for the ride:
and the best we can hope for
is to have some say
as to who shares the seat next to us.

Entanglements

Let me not so much be lost in involvements
as would make me incapable of
recognizing the fragrance of the flower
beaming in my own yard; as would
divest me of time
for the merry sports of children
glee with the total joy of creation
radiant in their midst.

As would render me oblivious of my time
for the wind carrying the scents of love,
for the birds chanting the notes of life,
for sparkling waterfalls falling yet gay
and, too, for the stars fireflies carry
through the immensity of darkness.

Let me not so much be swept by haste.
Let me not lose the sight of myself
in the rush of life’s vicious circles.
Let me not go spiraling towards a peak
where vision would be blinded with
tears, washing down life’s rubles.

Not so much be lost as would have
no time to look at myself
ever. Not so much, so much be lost, just
to see the hue, grace, glory gone
off the face of my beloved
as I’d wake and be conscious.

How long would I run after the
time,
my mind just a cosmos of void?
Will you please go journeying
for your own sake,
till I come living a moment of life?

EAGLE ENTANGLEMENTS

                                                            bold beauty
                                                     perilous dance of love
                                                            free-fall mate

                                                      part at the moment
                                                        glory before death

                                                           pause to watch

                                                    would you still choose me
                                                       or grab a safe branch
