Emotional Entanglements
When we close our eyes and fall asleep,
dreams create a world tethered to our imagination:
where worrisome thoughts melt away like icicles
drip by drip.
And our subconscious
scripts our most intimate thoughts and desires.
Dreams are inked with raw feelings,
often underscored with vivid strokes of passion.
And our mind extends itself
to this tentative world
outside of emotional entanglements:
where hope navigates fate's treacherous waters,
immune to reality's rebuke.
Fantasy dreams show us what lies beyond
self-imposed doubts,
effectively expanding our view.
Like a dream, life is a journey of exploration.
We have no control
over its destination, or what course it will run.
We're all along for the ride:
and the best we can hope for
is to have some say
as to who shares the seat next to us.
