Dearest Gretta,
The world stands amazed at your powerful voice
at such an early age..
The call to action, the dire global truth, so eloquently
shared by one in her youth..
During you're sabbatical, the powerful petition
you made to world leaders to confront carbon emissions..
Holding them accountable for their promises of change.
You also met with scientists to discuss an acceptable range..
Waking people up to this stark reality that our daily
consumer habits need to be altered radically.
When purchasing food we must be attentive to what we buy.
Did it arrive here by boat or the more carbon costly sky?
Global warming is not distant, not fifty years away.
It's urgent and it's now and we must all act today!!

We exploit her gifts, polluting, robbing.
Mother earth has a soul and we've
all heard her sobbing..
Too many species are now extinct.
We need to slow down, reassess, think..
Exxon, Shell, Chevron need new tools,
stop their reliance on our fossil fuels.
These companies must end their
greedy ambitions. They are responsible
for 71% of our global emissions..
We've known that it's coming.
Don't act perplexed.
We could be the next Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Man has been so blessed with this beautiful planet,
for goodness sakes, lets top taking her for grant it.

Our dog is sawing logs loudly
so many deep groans as she lets off gas
they smell like charcoal emissions
She is getting older, her snores are shaking the house
I wish we could bottle her emissions and run our car on them

I'm Olive, a once flatulent cow.
Spinach is all I eat now.
That silly green grass
is a thing of the past,
for a new wind is blowing this hour.
To methane reduction all power!
If you're a cow too,
show assent by a moo.
Comment:
What could be odder
than this switch to new fodder?

Time of year to be merry and jolly
mistletoe and holly
Holy submissions
we believe are boll....
crackers we pull
and jokes oh so dreadful
lying to children
a month of bull
presents we give
receipts we seek
eating so much we fall a sleep
and on Christmas Day evening
families walk the streets
because Christmas lunch emissions can really reek

As I ascend the stairs to my waiting boudoir
I expel these loud gaseous emissions just like a car
Is it the rarefied atmosphere
More likely what I eat I fear
Must lay off the beans, it smells like an abattoir

My back end emissions have yet to reach
Point eight on the Richter Scale
A magnitude that easily destroys big buildings
Or drives locomotives off the rail
Most of the time they're silent but deadly
The kind that can make people mute
I've also heard that a man in Kansas City
Let one fly and it blew off his suit
Now that's what I call a powerful emission
Hope one day to blow a point eight
I'll be able to rest with my life's work done
Sure hope it doesn't trigger a quake!

Silly thoughts are filling my head
It's happening more often of late
Do you think I'm starting to lose it
Do all seniors suffer this fate
Nobody told me when I was young
That our mental capacities decline
To where we can't remember our name
Or can't do two things at a time
A sad ending to a productive life
Brimming with many successes
Not really how I thought it would end
Farting and making big messes
Guess we just need to laugh at it all
It's a part of the human condition
We really don't have much of a choice
So take pride in your musical emissions
Silly thoughts are filling my head
It's happening more often of late
Is this how my life is going to wind up
Do all seniors suffer this fate
