Musical Organisms

"Let’s Bungle In the Jungle” Jethro Tull
Don’t want to tangle
with slithery snakes.

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight” The Tokens
I won’t be walking in their
territory after dark.

"Puff The Magic Dragon”Peter Paul and Mary
This song not about drugs.
RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The Unicorn"
Sung by the Irish Rovers
THIS IS NOT A TRUE IRISH SONG!!

"Wild Horses" The Rolling Stones
Can’t see Mick riding a horse.
His hips would sway too much.

"Bat Outta Hell" Meatloaf
Can’t see a bat coming out of hell
But stop pickin’ on Eddie!!!!

"Crockodile Rock" Elton John
Not sure a crocodile can dance
Wouldn’t want to find out.

"White Rabbit" Jefferson Airplane
Now this song is about drugs
Go Gracie

"Black Cow" Steely Dan
Used to love those root beer floats
Gotta watch calories now

Premium MemberSir Elton Passes Gas

Sir Elton (my Keeshond) ate a raw prune
Couldn’t get out of the house, none too soon,
Left me a deposit
Actually, was it
Putrid smell from a passing gas balloon?

Elton Porter

1907-1924

(An Ode to Luella and John)

My best friend John Molina, and I

Spent many a carefree afternoon on bareback,

Astride the furious gallups

Of our sure-footed steeds;

Barefooted in summer and bundled up in winter;

We rode and ranged over the northern foothills,

Ablaze with mustard blooms in spring,

In search of squirrels and sunsets.

We roamed and roved like Crusaders,

Over those imposing heights,

Awash in winter mud and debris,

Seeking the Holy Chalace of freedom,

But still rich in grace,

Rich in impetuous youth.

And we both talked at length,

About Luella, the girl we most admired;

Certainly not for her obvious beauty, no.

Certainly not for her alluring bashful ways, no.

But instead, for her sublime singing voice.

Ah, I remember it well!

That day in this cemetery long ago,

She sang “All Or Nothing At All” by the front gate there,

And lo, the Muses all gathered in spirit roundabout,

Gathered to christen our surging hearts to the gods,

With a soft embrace,

And a simple kiss.

Seeing Elton

The last time I saw Elton,
He was not the leading act.
At the Fillmore, Leon Russell starred -
A most surprising fact.

It's 40-odd years later
And I just saw him perform.
For most musicians, drawing crowds
For years is not the norm.

But Elton John sure packed them in -
Deservedly, for sure.
Now settled in Las Vegas,
He no longer needs to tour.

The people flock to hear him sing
And he puts on a show.
His piano chops and presence,
Like his costumes, seem to glow.

Yet mostly, I was taken
By the comments that he'd make.
Such humble homage to the crowd
Is very hard to fake.

So here's to many years to come
In Elton John's career.
As long as he's on stage, I'm sure
The audience will cheer.

Sir Elton John

England's knighted ~ Sir Elton John
Singer of songs like the classic, Levon
Genius pianist, known for tabloid strife
Still standing with David, the love of his life.
