Today’s blessing is inspired by Eleanor H. Porter
A novelist I find enlightening and wise
And every now and then I like to stop and wish
we all would see the world through Mrs. Porter’s eyes.
It’s not that when we seek out the good in the world
to all the bad we are blind…
It’s just…when we’re hunting for the good things
we sort of forget the other kind.

Previous nights were mellow and true –
Love had been tender,
Nights had never been blue –
Gentle as the dance, we swung
I hold Eleanor Knightley in my loving arms.
Crystals, amethyst and pearls she wore,
Around her neck diamonds were
Gold as her crown radiated with luminescence,
Extravagant as Egyptian Silk embraced her figure
Carelessly our bodies rhythmically swayed along.
“May I have this dance?”
I asked.
“Why certainly.”
Eleanor Knightley had manipulated my eyes –
Mesmerized by her flair and natural beauty
I am bewitched by the Madame's alluring charm.
As the night enclose –
I hold Eleanor Knightley so close –
Whisper the following words;
“The night may wilt, I say –
But the English rose blossoms foreverly.”

She masquerades by candle light
hope unparaded
triumphs
Lady Eleanor will you dream tonight
waiting for the stone gargoyles
by the wayside
by someones achilles heel
you are the slayer
akin to something sinister
you walk to the tower
where you can see enlarge
your designs
by the misty morning

Eleanor
Elegant grace, with eyes so bright,
Endless love, a guiding light.
Adorned with warmth, her spirit gleams,
Nurturing heart, like flowing streams.
Open arms embrace, a comforting touch,
Radiating kindness, she cares so much.
Ever present, she lends an ear,
Always patient, she's always near.
Loving words like a gentle breeze,
Overflowing with joy, she puts my heart at ease.
Her radiant smile lights up the day,
A pillar of strength in every way.
Endearing moments, memories we share,
Admiration for her, beyond compare.
Never-ending support, through thick and thin,
Offering guidance, a beacon within.
Revered and cherished, a mother so dear,
Eleanor, you're loved, now and forever near.

In time, in time, always in time
The prophets always say
There is no time in heaven
It just gets in the way
Perhaps the madness of my life
Has seeped inside my mind
Perhaps the sadness of my heart
Has reaped the poorest kind
For chains and locks are what they gave
To middin folk as me
And others hang from castle wall
Or from a tall oak tree.
This is my time, in dark and dank
With brain of silence, bruised and blank
And all for a tatty small and hot
They gave me a preacher and a prison shot
They gave me a time to fail in the gloom
Of a black hearted cold cruel room
And who will remember me
She will and no other
The day they stole me from my mother.

Eleanor instinctively knows the language of the great mathematicians
The other women consider her peculiar
She does no needlework
Pines after no man
Her daddy trains her to follow his profession.
She becomes a highly-trained, impressive engineer
Born in the wrong century to be employed,
she starts her own company

Eleanor scooped up her kitten, in the pumpkin patch.
She was happy to do it. His name was Black Snatch.
She had snatched him from the beak of Owl Boy long ago.
He was mewing in distress, an animal in crazy woe.
Owl Boy was angry, so Eleanor threw him some meat.
She had already cooked it, but it was something to eat.
She traded Black Snatch for beef chunks from gram’s stew.
She was a smart witch, she knew what she had to do.
Owl Boy sometimes flew along with Eleanor and Snatch.
He gave them his lazy eye. Their rivalry they did not patch.
But he understood that she would fight him tooth and hide,
So he left her cat alone, content to glide along for the ride.

Eleanor looked down at St. Peter’s and smiled.
“More visitors today,” she reported.
Her angel mentor smiled.
A scullery maid in life,
Dead at the age of forty-four,
Eleanor had never suspected she would become famous
Best day of my spirit life
When those two boys met
At my gravestone, she said.
John came over and said,
“Best pals ever,” sending Paul vast love.
Her tomb was such a landmark!
“I will never be lonely again,” she said.
“Come sing with me,” John coaxed her.
He could charm her like a son.

Eleanor. Who was she?
A spinster. Quiet, aloof, alone.
Well-known yet stealing away to the recesses of her singularity.
An old maid.
One who navigates through the motions of life.
Solace or sorrow who would know?
Sung to the world yet unknown.

Who is or was Eleanor Rigby ?

Poetry Contest

Eleanor Rigby
Lost her 1st Born Son and Husband
To World War 2
She then dedicated her life to the Church
Overcome by grief and loss
She became a Nun
To seek solace and relief
She searched for her answers in God
And placed her faith in religion
Lives in a dream
Masking a face of bereavement
Like all the other lonely people
Picking up rice pretending to smile
in a face she keeps inside a
message in an old milk bottle
that reminds her of Maternal weaning
Destined to die alone
Until Father Lennon McCartney eventually reads her obituary
At her funeral in Strawberry Field's
where no 1 will come
Back to the dirt from whence she came
To rejoin her family again
Rejoicing
War is Over
God's Vestal Angel
Eleanor is Saved
In song we remember
Eleanor Liver Beatle
You'll Never Walk Alone

They think she's nice,
she picks up rice -
but please don't worry,
it's for her curry.

There were three little piggies, Mud, Slop and Eleanor
Mud and Slop usually covered in poop while Eleanor was demure
Hanging out with well-to-do piggies
The ones known as the “pretties”
A misnomer for sure, but Eleanor had piggie allure

Shoot me to death with pearls
or cut my throat with a diamond;
because I’m yours to have but not to hold.
But if I tell him I love him,
then I’m at his mercy.
I just want to know if he could love
me.
I don’t want a singer to croon this love away,
I don’t need a musician to tune all this into another day…
Hang me around your
neck.
I didn’t like it when you touched me that way.
But if I tell him I love
him, then I’m at his mercy.
I just want to know if he could love
me.
