As the sun rays pass through my window
Lighting upon the scattered papers
My heart feels at ease
This hidden away happiness and peace
Has found its own door to unlock
Buried deep in my heart
The secrets I kept inside me
Now find their way to my mouth
Spilling them in front of someone I barely know
Yet even by exposing myself so bare
I don't feel ashamed, I feel at comfort
Perhaps it is because, this "someone" listens to me
Without judging, without saying anything
This silence has stayed with me for many years
As I turn to look
I realize its me
Comforting myself at ease
As the sun rays pass through my window
Lighting upon the scattered papers
My heart feels at ease
This hidden away happiness and peace
Has found its own door to unlock
Buried deep in my heart
The secrets I kept inside me
Now find their way to my mouth

He sits where the quiet gathers
A desk
A lamp
A page waiting
He begins the slow stitching
Of hours that once breathed
Each memory arrives differently
Some walk in with dusty shoes
Some drift like a familiar scent
From a room he no longer enters
He writes them as they are
Not as they should be
Cracked edges
Weathered colors
The well-seasoned truth carrying its weight
With the soft scrape of his pen
He learns this small mercy
Remembering is not returning
It is simply letting the past speak
Without interruption
When he closes his notebook
The world feels lighter
Not because he has changed it
Because he finally let it become whole
Minnow drifts in stream.
He hangs in the clear water,
"Whew! What a full day!"
brushstrokes across canvas of mine
flow smoother and mellower with wine

Come, walk with me
let’s take in the breeze.
We’ll start the morning lost,
and find our way back with ease.
Maybe we’ll find the ring you tossed.
Come, walk with me
a splendid day calls.
Let’s go have a picnic,
sip time near the waterfalls.
I’ve built you a nice walking stick.
Come, walk with me
you should take a chance.
Right now? We should explore!
Adventure starts at the entrance.
You in? Your swim suit’s in the drawer.
Don’t see only our disabilit-ease,
Don’t deny us basic facilit-ease,
Don’t ignore our many abilit-ease,
Don’t compound our varied difficult-ease,
Deal head-on with the harsh realit-ease.
You never know what life has in store,
You may fall one day and rise no more,
You may join our ranks, afraid, unsure,
You may write words to plead; implore.
We are not an alien race,
We have a voice, we have a face,
We have our part to play; a place.
Let us join life’s lively dance,
Let us have an equal chance.
Pl- ease.
Do you now feel at ease?
When it's all said and done
When you've seen and loved
Saw the darkest side of life
And even questioned the sands of time
When you looked up in the sky
And acknowledged the beauty of the sun
Seen storms imbibe people and trees
How did you feel?
When you sometimes had friends
But sometimes thought you didn't care
How much hurt or happiness did it bring?
Did you have those nights where you could not sleep?
When you said you were fine but you were not
You wanted to vent but kept it short
When you saw the worst but kept going
Did you ever feel like quitting?
You were not wrong to feel wounded
You weren't wrong to keep your heart wooden
I want you to ask yourself this,
"Do I now feel at ease?"
Why does doom feel so familiar
While happiness seems so far away?
How many times have you heard the supplications
Asking for help, or
Begging for mercy, from our suffering.
In this god-forsaken place,
Where we have been placed, to test our tenacity.
Here in this tent city, surrounded by the sounds of industry,
Talking to strangers, about predestined arrangements
Watching the birds fly and the bugs crawl beneath the canopy
In a seemingly parallel reality, I’ve come to suffer separation
From this place we call civilization, the noise of today
Is but tomorrow’s memory, wanting to steal my spirit away.
Just leave me be. Forget about me. Mind your own business.
Leave me out of the fray. I never asked it to be this way.
Criss-crossed with trespass, egregious behavior
Upon someone else’s path, invasive presence, vainglorious -
Self-interest that clashes with everything including itself.
Vibrating like a hive of invasive species
Eating away at the fabric of our being.
Loud, obnoxious, rude, concoctions, diseases for the masses
Please take me away from this insanity. Again,
I pray. ~psp

I could see she was broken,
It was so easy to tell.
The look in her eyes
Said her life had been hell.
To get all of her heart,
I knew that I could never.
With all its broken edges,
It was me it would sever.
At the same time, I could see
How much she needed someone
To help ease some of her pain,
And who wouldn't turn and run.
I knew the love she gave
Would be harsh and cold.
If I was going to love her,
I knew I had to be bold.
I couldn't bring myself to leave
And let all her sadness remain.
She is lucky I'm broken enough
That I enjoy all the pain.
That's the way it is
God made it so
Things never remain the same
Everything that begins
Have an end
So it is.
Nothing remain same
That's our belief
Season's come and go
People come and go
After the night
Another dawn
The life we live.
You never touch
Same wave twice
Every second, minute or hour
Always a new opportunity
Be aware
Don't let it pass you by
Pray for grace to ease your race.
Today if you encounter someone dealing with grief or sadness
may it be part of your plan…
to help ease their grief…their sadness
any way you can.
