Premium MemberTrapped by Thoughts

An eaglet raised with barnyard birds
will never soar to towering heights.
Though armed with wings designed for flight
It will never reach soaring height.

Thoughts are like wings designed to soar
They’re active every waking blink.
But how you choose to use your wings
can help you cope with what life brings.

So many souls are trapped by thoughts
Of worthlessness and “Never will.”
The hurtful words that they were told
like prison bars, their thoughts still hold.

Sad thoughts trap those who are depressed,
these thoughts like weights, press on their chest.
Dark thoughts like clouds hanging so low,
seem bent on snuffing out life’s glow.

Self-centered thoughts ensnare the vain
and bind them with a galling chain.
These selfish thoughts leave ugly scars
and traps the soul within their bars.

When men with minds greedy for gain
and thoughts of wealth possess their brain,
many do things that are insane
to satisfy their thirst for gain.

If you do not control your thoughts
they will one day bind you with knots.
Let noble thoughts your mind adore
and they will make your spirit soar.

First flight of eaglet

The first stretch of wings
Is when you make it flap
Oh, don't you lose balance
You really can make it, that's for sure

You're not to be afraid
You're not to be afraid

The second you hop
Know it is coming
The first step of flying
Is when you take it easy
The first step of flying
Is feeling at ease.

Time after time, I tell you follow me
Time after time, I wait till you are ready

The first flight we need to see
The first flight little one
The first flight I need to see

The last step of flying
Is when you fly below me
There is still lot to learn
But I will teach you, all that I know

The first flight I need to see
It is a sure test to me as your mom

Time after time, eagles fly high
Time after time, we eagles fly high

The first stretch of wings
The first flight of young
The first hunt of young
Makes us best parent eagles.

It's My Time To Fly

It's My Time To Fly
Lord you know all about me
You see what's in my heart
Only you alone can guide me
show me where to start

With patience you teach me wisdom
in faith I'll learn to walk
Lord, I'm a eaglet still learnings
sometimes you'll hear me squawk

Cast our of my nest
my parents built for me
then out went my toys
it seemed crazy to me

It's time to stretch my wings
I need to learn to fly so,
I've watched my mom and dad
now it's my time to fly

They showed me how to eat right
taught me how to hunt food
I daily catch my meals in flight

When I see the storm is coming
I don't run away and hide
I stretch my wings toward heaven
above the clouds I take my flight

Flights In the Gyre of Being

The chick killed its brother;
the weak have to be expelled
from the nest,
It had to be the last and the first,
the one still instinctively pecking,
still begging from the raw red mouth
to endure long enough to soar.

She feeds it the meat of its sibling,
She has no sorrow for death
yet she must blind her eyes
to do this thing.

It gulps, grows stronger.
The consumed brother helping
to shed downy floss,
to nourish new sleek feathers.

Morsels are brought, foreign tastes,
until a small bird is put into a gaping beak.
It is not an eaglet,
the bird was born weak and yet survived
until now.

Upon a time it is chased from the eyrie,
left alone on wilderness winds
where only wings
that have thrived upon their kin
                may become mothers.

Spring On the Potomac

With apologies to Robby Burns and Sweet Afton - in celebration of Spring, and the return of our Bald Eagle family to their Great Falls home on the bonnie banks O’Burn Potomac:

Oh to be in Great Falls,
Now that Spring is on us,
Hearing baby eaglet calls,
A break from BREXIT chaos,
…and Trumpish walls and childish flaws,
…the wallaper, numpty, fanny baws “in Chief” - such grief.
So find your peace from the newest leaf of Spring,
…and singing eagle parents soaring on the wing
…bringing tasty scran to their eager eaglet fledgling

To illustrate this poem there are picture's of a Bald Eagle's nest with parent and two youngsters, Trump in Scotland, spring foliage and cherry blossoms along the Potomac. But I could not copy and paste here.

Premium MemberDropped Into An Eagle's Nest

The eagle mistook me for a bunny. She swooped down and picked me up from the field, and we went soaring high in the sky, past the swing set, past the fence, past the tree line, up, up, up.

She tightened her grasp, but I did not mind. I had never flown like this before, out in the open, with the robins who gawked as we flew past. It was fun looking down at my house from the sky, and not from an airplane window. I waved at my neighbor, and was disappointed that she did not see me.

This magnificent bird got me to a mountain ledge and dropped me where three adorable eaglets were waiting. “LUNCH!” she announced, and she flew off. I made them grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, and we had chocolate pie with whipped cream for dessert. Then we took a little nap.

These eaglets were much more appreciative than my own children, so I decided to stay. I fixed them banana pancakes, and blackberry cobbler, and meatloaf, and hot bread. After a month or so, they started to take advantage of me. They wanted me to start cleaning their bedrooms, and they were a lot messier than my own children, so I climbed down and walked back home.

Anticipation

Anticipation

Like a cold night's yearning for sun's warmth,
I await her.

Like a dry sand beach welcomes the tide,
I await her

Like a breathless groom at the altar,
I await her.

Like desert sands bide the coming of rain,
I await her.

Like an eaglet yearns to fledge,
I await her.

Like a bee hovering over a blooming flower,
I await her.

Like the mother in birth needs hear that cry,
I await her.

Like a poet prays for inspiration,
I await her.

Like he who no longer knows who she is,
I await her.

Take To the Skies

Fly with me

This poem depicts a beautiful picture of how God often set us up for success.

An Eaglet is hungry in his nest
His body steadied in a cold rest
Mom comes flying in an undulating breeze
In each flight, she came with empty feet

Mom pushes her little one out of the nest
The young Eaglet fell on his chest
Hitting his face against the cliff of the hill
He picked up a beetle and ate it; his first kill.

He stayed by itself, no longer brooded at night
As time passed he was airborne for his first flight
Mother pushes her little one in and out again
As he screamed for food over and over again

“Mom, what are you doing?”?
“Hey! Mom, what are you doing?”?

Mom flew by, dangling a marmot in his feet
The eaglet lost balance in eagerness to eat
The parent swung by, daring him to fly
Lifted up high, he gave it a first try

He sailed across the valley, almost tumbling
In an undulating flight, almost scrambling
He tried to get his bearing, still trying
And for the first time in his life, he was flying.

Limerick 5

Eaglet,dolphins and waning light,
Plane,rockets and flowing kite.
Attendant of air all are,
But eaglet boast of her star.
Now,she's is out of sight.

Want To Do Your Best

Want To Do Your Best

Eagle was with white wings which were elegant
And wherever he would fly or even had went
Was majestic, glorious and also so mighty
Taking all things seriously and never lightly.

Flew with fine effort that he could not quit
And every time his mate had made an eaglet
Outside often had been harsh and was raining
He still took youngsters for flying training.

One day after he did drink a few night caps
Suddenly did dive ending up in a total collapse
And his story had a mighty miserable moral
Life comes to an end when you miss the portal.

What he did was fly into a wide wall instead
And of course sure enough ended up dead
Had to give away all rights that were declarant
And died due to being a pretty poor parent.

So this surely thought that I should suggest
When you really want to do your very best
Encourage education to become more eclectic
And become a pleasant parent who is poetic.
