Donging Poems | Examples

Premium MemberRing

I rested my eyes and I heard a bell ringing
I wondered what this afternoon might be bringing
I gathered my wits and peered out through the blind
Frankly, intrigued to know what I might find

There’s children stood there and they look so unruly
I sense that they’ve all got it in for yours truly
I think to myself with a shortage of mirth
The lot of them should have been throttled at birth

That bell is still ringing, it’s donging and dinging
I’ve got a sore head and my eardrums are stinging
And would you believe that those kids are now squealing
You’re likely to find me soon… clung to the ceiling

Will somebody please silence that flaming bell
I so want a crossbow like William Tell
I feel myself shaken and then shaken faster
Then… “Lunch time is over; please wake up, Headmaster.”

- The Villanelle Of The Look MINDSET MISCONCEPTIONS-

Misconceptions babbling unspoken about the look
Deeply was just so broken and outgoing
Forces could never forget the outcome book

Stories miss read, Mindset was shocked by the rook
He found himself feeling rather flowing
Mindset couldn't stop thinking about the look

Misconceptions was spooked by a notebook
He thought the situation had become rather seagoing
But Mindset could never forget the outlook

tried to distract misconception with a hook
Hook-Line and sinker like a fish time to start thinking a boing
Bells ringing couldn't stop ding-donging about the look

Misconception took action like a snook
The look was becoming too easygoing
Mindset could never forget the outlook

Misconception nosedived like a dreamy overlook
His mindset became dangerously glowing
Misconception couldn't stop thinking about the look
But he could never forget the outcome shook

Premium MemberHow Great God Is

Little chapel dreams caressed by stain glass reflections
chime bells of gold donging in the middle of the day
A sky so serene it takes your breath away
by mountainous views, so many Holies sway
to a music that reminds us how great God is, how great
                         GOD IS
How great the grandeur of this amazing place
where harps and organs whisper onto violin
Time stands still as I pray, the Holy Spirit fills
the empty spaces of my heart;
Every hymn here reminds me of, how great
                     THOU ART

If You Say It In Such a Way

...

they might believe you.
Colored beads on a necklace;
if we change the order of the beads
the necklace might look like a snake
or a skein of yarn
maybe a bell pull,

we might see the bell
swinging, hear the slow
donging of its hollow heart,

or we might just move on
tossing the beads at a rock
watch the beads break apart
forming their own random images.

Now you can say it in another way,
the arrangements are endless,
but the beads are just beads
the poem is what you say it is.

-grandfather's Revival-

Old Grand-Father Clock
now polish cracked,a worn-out broken crock
Gathering dust, His innards out of stock
Standing alone in a dank corner forlorn,
Forgotten in the clutter of the attic,
Not even now considered an antique.

Stilled, His pendulum's hypnotic swing
No more His tick-tocking minutes at play
Muzzled His ding-donging chime
As the deteriorating years chime
Blurry and mouldy His faded dial,
His statuesque charm, a forgotten style.

Then perchance finally, the fate's to mock
Ancient Father Time caused the day to arrive
To have Old Grandfather Clock
Refurbished and in grandiose splendour revive
To once more majestic in the halfway to stand
On His refreshed dial a new minute's and hour hand.

His walnut lacquered skin a glistening display
With polished pendulum swinging pride-fully anew
And tolling chimes, pealing the time of day
Now standing in grandeur for all to view
Tick-tocking, ding-donging the time away
A Praying homage to His Redeemer, the Master-Craftsman his Due.
