Distanced I Dis connect
Disconsolate enuii
I flick the screen alive
strangers flood my space
they disparage what I use
push their disposable trash
I dismiss the ploys they use
their flashing light displays
the blur of too much choice
disturbed by airbrushed smiles
all those disjointed claims
I distrust their AI games
disquietened by false charm
my silence disconcerts
so they offer me a deal-
who needs a talking broom
disgruntled and dismayed
to have them in my house
distracted by their noise
and always fake discounts
their loud discordant gush.

I saw you on the lake.
You have a nice tan,
you glistened, wet, and smiled.
We waved halfheartedly, at a distance.
It was one of those 2020 moments.
We are distanced by discipline,
desires sheltered in place.
Mine are burned, as fuel,
for piquant eclogues or rest,
unused, like nuclear waste.

The night is warm and her flowers in bloom
A chance to dispatch our covid’d gloom;
Old friends together, our drinks too well known
A chance to catch up instead of alone.
Each chair is placed at the distance proscribed
And each wears a mask as our hostess advised,
Surely, covid here has no chance to spread,
Though no one can hear a word that is said.

on the edges
of every dream
you stood
my salvation
from pain
wiping free
my lonely tears
your lambency shined
like a beacon
guiding me
through darkness
your wings
comforted,
shielded me
a kiss
blown
on wishes
adrift
in the winds
that held you
closer
i taste you
on my lips
as you part
through my tears
on the edges
of dreams
you stand
distanced
i reach for you
as my hands slip
through air
this blade
pierces my heart
through the fog
lifting me
into my salvation
from pain

Toying a glass of wine
Sitting alone in a chair with a broken leg
On the make-believe balcony
Of my log-cabin in the middle of a forest
On the slope of a hill called destiny
Tonight I remember you mother
When I look at the oil lamp
Swinging gently in earth scented night breeze
In tandem with plantain leaves
While the night’s dark mirror cracks
With sound of wailing crickets
A silvery string of ray from the thirteenth day moon
Joins the lamp’s orange flame
I see you walking along the fence of ferns yonder
Carrying your old lamp
Amidst a swarm of fireflies
With their flickering wicks
Seemingly mocking me
Upon my distanced belonging
I love you mama

Loving you until now is hopeless
Feeling unnoticed is endless
By someone like you Im helpless
But I feel careless
You made me smile at your presence
And you made me cry at your absence
You light up my day and night
And me dream about you holding you tight
Is it just me only loving you merely
Hoping that someday you'll notice me
Thinking that you're sitting next to me
Whispering silently this precious words from me
I love you dearly and purely ...

I can feel us getting more and more distant
It's like you're standing in front of me
but I can't reach you no matter how hard
I try and stretch my arms.
The gap between us is as big as the ocean,
drowning me every time I try to swim across.
Why are you pushing me away, what did I do?
It's like we don't even know each other anymore,
when really, I know everything about you.
You were my shining sun, but now
my skies are grey and the clouds are drooping with rain.

I’m calling you, my darling dear
Please answer me, now do you hear?
Or have you wandered far from here
To leave me then alone?
Oh, please, pray tell, where did you go?
I’m sorry, but I must now know.
Because, I miss you ever so,
Or, should I just have known
That I’d be calling out your name?
As things just wouldn’t be the same
Please tell me then, am I to blame
Or apart, have we two grown?
