Where are citizens echoing
"Give me liberty, or give me death"?
Where is a statesman whose wisdom and courage
could cross a frozen Delaware to save an army and
a nation?
One declaring his signature boldly so a despot
was certain to see it?
Where is a statesman or woman whose integrity guides
his or her motives?
One who legislates for the National well-being, and not
for selfish personal gain?
Where is the statesman who lives and voices the spirit
of "This Hallowed Ground"?
Stands firm, placing honor before money and power?
Where is the statesman who lives by the principal "Of the
people, by the people, and for the people"?
One whose honor states "I don't agree with you, but I will
defend your right to say it!"?
God, give us statesmen!

You can tell who writes from the heart -- there is a living quality to those works transcending mere Intellectualism.
He walks with his heart on his sleeve,
so us poets can find reprieve
He is always a verse-maker with creative flair
and his mind works like a sieve
Joe is a souper who is no duper he's real,
as real as the heartfelt poems he weaves.
Dimino I quote says, " In fact all of love,
cannot fit on a shelf nor a continent in itself.
His soul is so grand that it soars,
like a kite in full height, ...like a prayer.
Joe is a string of pearls lit up by the dazzle of his stay,
when he phrases his stories just right,
he brings forth so much light.

An ultimatum flight giving fancy, to monarch wings
of beauty and grace.
Towards the blazing sun she travels deep
into the bowls of heaven, a fearless painted lady
etched *gold *orange* red*, with a touch of black
She becomes a chiaroscuro angel, a Monarch of lace.
Such utter perfection that even Picasso cannot duplicate
Ignorant of endemics of earth her soul is a warrior
through and through, she flies on and on ...
like a Monarch of old to the moon and back she goes,
espying every private room of angels and demons alike.
When God gives you your final ultimatum dear friend,
I pray that you choose well and like the Monarch,
you will choose to go where He leads you,
without ever asking, why ?

What Child Is This
“What child is this”
who came to earth,
knowing earth's ruler
would deplore?
“What child is this”
who came to earth,
knowing His torture
in store?
What Father is this
who loved so much,
to sacrifice His Own
flesh and blood?
A Divine Lamb, who
on a mountain stood,
offered all Earth-kingdoms
if only He, the status-quo
would let be? – “What child
is this”, who when Mary, kneeling
at His feet, diverting her eyes, He
spoke: No dear one, look up at Me~
take hold of your Brother's Hands
– and Rise!?

"I'm A Cat" by Joe DiMino
I’m a cat...
And that’s where it’s At!
If you're fond of turd
Should have
Got yourself a bird;
If needed was an alarm—
fearful of the dark – should have
Rescued yourself a ferocious
Though thoroughly
annoying bark;
But if allowing for deference,
I personally find, feline an
Amply more luxurious preference:
Though admittedly, for some I am
Far too independent—self–serving; don’t
Need anyone (yet if it makes you feel better,
You can pet me) – It's just that
My basic nature is to be totally free;
Therefore, just be grateful
For the times I allow you
With your cuddly tabby:
So no more pouting
Over my nightly outing!

You have permission to use these poems of mine on your terrific sight if you wish, from a series of Desert Poems I have written. Joe DiMino, author.
"From Desert Series" by Joe DiMino
Horses have come through here--
no jockeys though--
tracks too free for that;
no grandstand cheering...
but one can tell,
by the long strides,
horses always know:
An eagle steps from the cliff...
struts high above the canyon floor...
shows her young what wings can do.
"From Desert Series" by Joe DiMino
The sun is not too hot, here,
on the lichen side of the mountain--
where the edge is taken off, absorbed
into the oranges and yellows and
greens and blues of my patterns:
There!--I see an Indian woman
breast-feeding her swaddling-child;
and there!--a mystical buffalo,
in marble of color (sort of an
unfinished puzzle): I search for my
missing piece in the shade of a tall
saguaro….
