Silly Love Songs

Mrs. Hickey, you’ve been on my mind,
just like a ball of twine
on a spool that never ends.
Though I’d never clapped an eye on you
my hands explored you:
feel the knees on me!

Hey, baby, let’s take a chance:
I left the condoms in my other pants.

Rollicking times,
late November back in sixty-three,
that’s when I shot John F. Kennedy
(superstar, but he didn’t get far).

Olivia Neutron Bomb,
you can ring my bell.

Gonna take a trip to Lonesome Town,
gonna stay at Heartbreak Hotel.
The aerial’s broke
can’t watch ‘Gunsmoke’
how are we gonna get by?
No BBC no ITV
above us only Sky.

Gypsies, stamp your feet.
Scrape that muck off your face.
Take your teeth out,
tell me what’s wrong.
Don’t go painting with emulsion.
Ain’t no sausages now.

There’s a ghost in my house.
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring.
We’ve got a liberal dad and a bachelor pad
and we do it.
Four hundred children and a crap in the field.
I can see Deirdre now Lorraine has gone.

I didn’t get the point
of Barton Fink, though.

I think I’m turning Japanese,
I really think so.

Flora lives next door to Merlin Mouse
He is best friends with Bill O'Grouse,
They were invited to come to tea
One plus one and Miss Flora Flea.

Paw Dog and Crew Cat from number ten,
Passed Mrs Cluck the plump brown hen.
They kindly invited Mrs Cluck to tea
Two plus two and Miss Flora Flea.

The hen had laid six large eggs,
Carried in a basket by Rooster Reg.
He too was invited by Mrs Cluck
Both saw and invited Miss Deirdre Duck.

Phoebe Parrot swiftly flew in
Ray Rabbit brought his violin.
Their invites came from Benjamin
Who suddenly declared "Let the tea party begin".

Crew cat and Paw dog were together invited,
By Bob Robin; the three were very excited.
But who had invited Flora and Bob Robin to tea?
It was Squire Squirrel who lives at Three Oak Tree.

How many were invited to come to tea?
How many were very excited was it two or three?
Can you add the numbers written all the way through?
You are warmly welcome to the Counting Club Crew.

When you have finished please do tell everyone
To share in the counting and share in the fun.
There is room for all, invite your friends too
Sharing many journeys with fun counting to do.

Juggling - For Deirdre and Liam

Juggling with kids is hard work
I mean, you two have so much energy
you too

I love it
But I can feel the pain in my
what are those muscles in my legs?

Tossing one kid to the next
like a pair of socks
bouncing balls so far we have to find them
running

As we laugh at every toss, every miss
again and again I hear a giggle
another giggle, sometimes a "sorry!"

there is nothing to be sorry about

I'm in shoes, she's in socks
pretty socks at that

D's socks we throw at each other
are Deirdra's too

Liam's bare foot
is tough enough to stand agains the wall

Your laughs, our laughs
at every toss and catch

one two

ev'ry 5 seconds
for an hour maybe more
adds up to hundreds or thousands
of laughs, giggles, I'm sorries
and I hope for many more
fun

Looking Through Gary Gilmore's Eyes

(In Utah in January 1977, murderer
Gary Gilmore insisted on being put
to death. After leaving his eyes to
medical science, his last words were
"Let's do it". Imagine that you woke
up in hospital to find they'd given
you Gilmore's eyes ...)

I can see clearly
now the rain has gone.
I read the news today, oh boy.
Psycho killer - qu'est-ce que c'est?
Nice surprise.
They've given me his eyes.
Will I start to show
at the bars he used to go?
Bottom rung, unsung,
unhung, bring 'em young.
My name is Faye -
now you're gonna pay.
Lean, mean, Steve McQueen,
Terry Malloy,
Bobby Prewitt.

I can see Deirdre
now Lorraine has gone.
Sound and vision.
Going in with my eyes open.
Slip slidin' away.
New start, too smart,
play the part,
Robin Hood, no good,
In cold blood,
through the heart.
Let's do it.

Deirdre Iii

Don't you know Deirdre's Gone?
Don't you know Deridre's Gone?

I stepped into room 8-16 only to feel tragedy
The gatekeeper says your addicted to your pain
A lifeless cold barren soul put In the closet with the shades
Will he ever let you out?

How many days will this passion bleed away
We will be the ones to blame
Beware we've became their prey

An exodus from pain
Her life spent breathing in shame
Am I the one to blame
Don't you know Deirdre's Gone?
Don't you know Deirdre never said wrong
Don't you know Deirdre's Gone?

"my decadence was just for you
Though you have never cared what I've been through
Enter a world where empathy is clandestine
A world created by thee, just for me
The destruction in my mind
Is why you want to throw the stone
Today I go past the gate''

I call your name towards nightfall's reign
But the guards take you so far away
A dark angel so divine
Cursed by the ones of Eden's Heart
I will avenge every tear

An exodus from her pain
Her life spent breathing in shame
Am I the one to blame
Don't you know Deirdre's Gone?
Don't you know Deirdre never said wrong
Don't you know Deirdre's Gone?

Oh Deirdre, Oh Deirdre,
what words can I say
to express how I feel
when you are far away.

But Deirdre, when you are close to me
and I think of the things you do,
my whole body starts to shake
and that's when I feel blue.

The sight of your gargoyle face
and the words that spit from your mouth,
make me break out in a cold, cold sweat
and I wish I was far, far south.

Oh Deirdre, it has to be said,
the taste of your cooking makes me ill.
Your under-cooked roasts are really vile,
as for your soup, well it's pig swill.

Your gas-like breath sends me to sleep.
Your toxic nagging drives me to drink.
I don't know how much more I can stand!
Oh Deirdre I'm dangling on the brink.

But 0h Deirdre, when I'm feeling low
Maybe all is not doom and gloom.
Your fortune will be mine when you die.
So Deirdre, my darling, please die SOON
