Looking Through Gary Gilmore's Eyes

(In Utah in January 1977, murderer Gary Gilmore insisted on being put to death. After leaving his eyes to medical science, his last words were "Let's do it". Imagine that you woke up in hospital to find they'd given you Gilmore's eyes ...) I can see clearly now the rain has gone. I read the news today, oh boy. Psycho killer - qu'est-ce que c'est? Nice surprise. They've given me his eyes. Will I start to show at the bars he used to go? Bottom rung, unsung, unhung, bring 'em young. My name is Faye - now you're gonna pay. Lean, mean, Steve McQueen, Terry Malloy, Bobby Prewitt. I can see Deirdre now Lorraine has gone. Sound and vision. Going in with my eyes open. Slip slidin' away. New start, too smart, play the part, Robin Hood, no good, In cold blood, through the heart. Let's do it.

Haha, all those songs, love that. I can see all obstacles in my way; The English Army had just won the war. Blue, blue, electric blue. That's the color of my room. And then of course all those others I missed because I am simply to young :) But: She said "A good day ain't got not rain".... Anyways, it's just eyes, you would be happy with a pig's heart, so why not his eyes :D

Brilliantly penned Michael - Gosh I can't imagine how it would be to have them transplanted - lets hope they are left pickled in a jar somewhere! Very clever use of some song titles there Michael and I love the humour in the first part of the final stanza. I remember a song called looking through Gary Gilmore's eyes - now I understand the meaning:-) hugs Jan xx

Oh, Jan! Thank you for such a delightful review! I had to look up the song, which I clearly remember (but not the band) ... apparently, it was "The Adverts".
