Premium MemberKnowing Angels

Angels are almost silent
Subtle
treadbare steppers
subliminal stalkers
determinedly quiet
except at choir
a pair of cherubic hums
can equivalate
to the drones
of a billion bees.

Can you separate
the noises
of bouncing sparrows
on wet sands,
from belly-down
thin-skinned slitherers
roaming in beds of grass -
obscenely dense,
from burglarizing ants at a picnic party?

Angels are seen
since they come to visit.
Unannounced,
but friendly faces
beaconing
like lighthouses.
Their halogen coronets
fulgurate and exorcise
diabolical agency.

Other angels may be noticed.
An invasive host
shod in threatening boots
dangling peace and safety
but entangling angles
strangle.
Hopes
course
in descension:
brambles
boulders
ports of fire.

Premium MemberEulogizing

A lover and a brother are heavy.
Recounting the contents of life is work.
A vessel holding unaccountable dust
may be volumes for a biographer’s notepad.
   “I miss she real bad!”
Whittled words.
Ponderous, leaky expression
surrendered by gross vulnerability,
and maybe a short lexicon.

A lover and a brother
and their handheld tomb,
this wild man pair in tropical print-
cotton tops mirroring loopy island ladies
under pineapple/banana coronets-
standing shoeless upon burning shores,
bearing their dead love,
gone sooner than hope had promised...
fish feed in a jar.

The Birdsong Prayer

at the crack of dawn
oh what joy rest inside the heart
while my heart revolves around
the wild scent of the blue moon
nest the black-tailed cockatoo
white and yellow crown displayed
black and orange feather arrangement
upon the breast and wings
leaping from the canopies of tropical trees
ascending towards the Serengeti-blue sky
thus a beautiful sound
resonating through the atmosphere
making the sound of golden coronets
while thanking God
for the humble birdsong prayer
asking for its daily bread

The Coronation

The golden sunshine
Adorns the hilltops with such
Royal coronets...

Premium MemberI Am Not Brave

How brave the amaryllis is
emerging naked from the soil,
an umber golden spear to pierce
the heresy of August air.

I am not brave like pilgrim bulbs,
though planted fifty years ago,
still sending offspring to the sky
determined in a hostile sphere

to brave remorseless elements
and kiss the hummingbird in flight
with coronets of newborn pink
that preach the coming of the light.

I am the baptist of the leaves
that peer above the April soil
and tendril hope in emerald verse
to cleanse the pagan garden dirt,

but only lay the nest of that
which must come later. I regret
I'm not the swan of human myth
that floats poetic on a lake

then sings my one seraphic note
upon my death. Indeed I am
but flesh that dies before the bloom
which glows an iridescent psalm.

Horses

Competition day had arrived,
His muzzle twitched with anticipation
And in relation my feet tingled in a way like never before.
For the first time, we both doubted ourselves

But fear not, we must carry on
As I plaited his forelock in preparation
I took the time to appreciate how flat his withers was
How typically racehorse he was
I stroked his fetlock as I knew this could be it.

His hooves were oiled and shiny as ever
Ready for anything
And the 3 link that he loved
Made no difference in poll pressure
As we bolt across the course, aiming to be the best

“I trust you, boy”
As if to tell him that even though, 2 years ago when he was deemed
A mess with dodgy hocks and lumpy coronets
Who was a waste
He could do this, to prove them wrong and beat the best
Become the best

Fine tussled forelock hides unbridled pain
from stifle-lameness acknowledged too late,
withering lesser those few that remain
watching as Stormcloud takes one final gait.

Soft drizzled rain-drops accompany booms
heard where each hoof tramples dirt into dust.
Mist escaped muzzle while ignorance looms,
glistens sheen gaskins long aching to bust.

Once thought sickle-hock due to fetlocks swelled
above coronets seen infected ill,
was quick dismissed by an owner compelled
to squeeze one dollar more from Stormcloud’s till;

Then came three races, one after the next,
which saw champion-spirit’s finest display;
Torturing sandscapes while weary croup flexed,
determined as anguished frogs made ovals pay.

He gave all he had and had no remorse,
For ended trots brought by one greedy soul –
Stormcloud indeed was a hall-of-fame horse,
erased when friendship went out at the poll.

The Earth Eclipsing the Sun Again

love is such a curious thing
the pitter-patter of the morning rain
the earth eclipsing the sun again
a flourish of brass horns and coronets
a baby nursing from mother's breast
the winds blowing from east to west
a red kite uplifted from summer's breeze or
just a dozen blue roses at best
yes the earth eclipsing the sun again

Converse...

Conversations confusing
Google bots are oozing as I type
Quiet yet quite the riot
Gents lament a Goddess rant
Counting Coronets that can’t…
Hailing comments that She shan’t
Whale her song from a ship of Pink.
While her telly was quite the philly
Her belly was shaking with quiet silly
A butter in the fly has stumbled…
Tumbling his tongue on a British bum.
She laughed as she came undone and
He remembers now, the dame’s name.
Especially, the special invented his game.
Peace and pieces were all to blame, so
Sasanova lost her shame… and went froth.
Up the Gemini and into the Earth…
Tales from the doggie, so Sirius at first
Said ales of Corona created Mirth.

Martha, is such a ham when she works!
Sang a song about six biggie wics
Five for games and one for sticks…
Dear John, Flame of my heart,
Your elip Tickles O’l Neptune’s part!
Dear Ed, did you hear of the start!
Two men in wigs… made a Casaba tart!

Logs only have rhythm… when they’re lagers…
Honey, pass my reed please… near the sandals.dear ;)~

Lightening Be This Storm

Lightening storms have eyes
To silence this rain
Bring your swift golden chariots
Beat on your drum
Blow through your brass coronets
Lightening be this storm
