Common Understanding Poems | Examples

Premium Member If the world would be like me

If the world would be like me
there will be no wars
Peace will be the first decree
overtly endorsed
Love will be the law for good
Common understanding
Will prevail, just how it should
Larks will be ascending
to the summer skies of blue
then descend with grace
to the garden grown by you
There will be no race
No oppressive vanity
will make any sense
If the world would be like me
it would cut expense
But alas, the world we know
Looks a lot like them
Who are running this old show
with the newer lambs
Some offended gods can’t break
their favorite toy
And a wiser god can’t make
world of peace and joy.

Shall we dance

Shall we dance, Mystery Woman, shall we dance?
Shall we tango with words, slowly, to gently build
Some common understanding of each other’s
Rhythms of thought and being?

Shall we dance a pavane of polite conversation,
In orderly procession of statement and reply,
Point and counterpoint, graceful development
Of theme and variations?

Indeed. Let us dance. Let us waltz towards
Some decisive moment when the music resolves into
Assonance or dissonance, and the floor becomes
Crowded with swirling, twirling, dancers,
Or empties into hollow phantoms of memory.

Let us dance.

Minds

Our minds have grown,
into edifices of slips that turn to
pride...
and eject a lifelong withering pulse,
to reveal you.

The grueling drips have dragged,
a common understanding of
our enduring limits
into empty nights,
and inside a creeping smile...
that again reveals you.

Inside us lies
a sown up compassion
for intricate devotion screaming for space...
yet conflates all seasons into one.

Awaiting our trust,
a wilting journey compelled by minds,
concealed from vivid and storied
acclaim..
declares defeat...

Stack In Quagmire

This business is not as simple as yes, no
and I know, we both want to know,
how our fate will go.

For every happy start,
it’s not a must,
to have a bad ending,
and for every happy start
it’s not a must
 to have an ending.

The continuity is well sustained
if we both agree to obtain,
and abstain,
from all other sort of bargains.
A common understanding.

We may need to talk
but am not sure if we can talk
for we are now stack
in this holly Month.

I know I have been acting strange,
you have every right to protest,
but I don’t know what to say,
for admitting a yes or no,
is not in this game.

Lessons Taught

Long ago on rolling hills
And endless plains
Stood men who fought
For a cause beyond common understanding
Bound together by integrity
They persevered
When odds gave no chance
Led by a man
Whose name was always half whispered
They made a vow
From that day forth
To stand as one
For in so doing
They found the strength
Lost on thousands
And won the day
Freedom they earned
From the blood they sacrificed
In defending a land
Not all their own
Thus were legends made
Respect of generations earned
Handed down from father to son
Mother to daughter
For all to hear
How strength is found
When standing as one
Throughout history
From the example made
Nations have been born
To see freedom reign
Overcoming such odds
That would defeat weaker men
All brought forth long ago
On rolling hills and endless plains
In the lessons taught
By men who stood as one and persevered
For a cause far beyond
Common understanding of mortal men
