Our ancient fathers had it easy.
Every now and again God would appear
To one of them on top of a mountain, in a dream,
Or what would seem to be a burning bush.
He would tell them where they went wrong
(which button to push)
Give them a set of instructions.
Then, presto! Away they’d go
And things would also go right for a while,
Until the instructions became obsolete.
Meanwhile, they would be scrutinised
And revised by God, and a new set provided.
Neat! In the Old Testament this was standard,
Now we come to the New: not so for us.
We have to formulate our own instructions,
Perform our own miracles,
By trial and experiment,
By logic or presentiment.
We hope, we fumble and grope
And often (but not often enough)
We discover a missing fragment
Of the Seventh or Tenth Commandment
(only a fragment, mind)
While the First Commandment,
Although we search, we cannot find.
Someday perhaps,
On a slide, looking down a microscope,
One of the laboratory chaps or some old bod
Gazing at the heavens through a telescope,
Might just catch a glimpse of God.

Prayer for the 10th Commandment
Oh Father God, You have commanded us not to covet our neighbor's goods
This I must, this I should even to their foods
For when You have given what suits us
We should respect what another fellow has
Oh Jesus Christ, help me not to get other's possessions
Do not allow me to commit such transgressions
To God we must give what is due to Him
From God we take only what suits our realm
Oh Holy Spirit, let me respect other's belongings
This is God's command, this can avoid ill happenings.

Oh Father God, you have commanded us not to covet our neighbor's wife
This I must, this I make a proper strife
For when You have binded a man & a woman
They should be for each other one
Oh Jesus Christ, help me not get other's spouse
Do not take the woman of another's house
To God there is only one Mother
From God there is only one Father
Oh Holy Spirit, let me not take the woman of another man
This is God's command, this should be done.

Oh Father God, You have commanded us not to bear false witness
This I must, this I observe with carefulness
For You hate those who make lies
It is not healthful like a vice
Oh Jesus Christ, help me not to be a liar
Lying and false accusations can ignite war
To the Lord I confess everything that is true
From the Lord comes the truth for me & you
Oh Holy Spirit, help me not lie & falsely accuse
This is God's command, this must be put to use.

This I must, this I consider a big deal
For You have provided us something for our own
Our possession is ours all alone
Oh Jesus Christ, help me not to become a robber or thief
Be content of what I have as life is brief
To the Lord I grant the lordship all alone
From the Lord we are granted for our sins a pardon
Oh Holy Spirit, let me not take other's possession
This is God's command, this is a way to salvation.

To our Creator we must be led
From our Creator we must be fed

From God came they who caused my existence

At all times, in all places – whenever, wherever
To His name be all the glory of the heaven & the earth
From His name be baptized since the time of our birth

The 1st Commandment of Eternal God is I am the Divine Lord your Eternal God
You will not have strange gods before Me
By the 1st Commandment we are commanded to offer God alone the supreme worship that is due to Him
We worship Eternal God by acts of Faith, Hope and Charity
And adoring Him and praying to Him
A Catholic Christian sins against faith by not believing what Eternal God has revealed
And by taking art in non-Catholic worship
The sins against hope are presumption and despair
The chief sins against charity are hatred of Eternal God and of our neighbor
Envy
Sloth or laziness
Or scandal
Charity means love
Hatred is against love
Envy is being displeased at another’s success
Sloth is laziness
Scandal is bad example
Besides believing what Eternal God has revealed
We must keep his law
The 2 Great Commandments that contain the whole law of Eternal God are
1st you will love the Divine Lord Your God with your whole heart
With your whole soul
With your whole mind
And with your whole strength
2nd is you will love your neighbor as yourself
To love Eternal God
Our neighbor
And ourselves we must keep the Commandments of Eternal God
And the Roman Catholic Church
The Commandments of Eternal God are ten
1 I am the Lord your Eternal God
You will not have strange Eternal God before Me
2 You will not take the name of the Divine Lord your Eternal God in vain
3 Remember to keep holy the Divine Lord’s day
4 Honor your father and your mother
5. You will not kill
6 You will not commit adultery
7 You will not steal
8 You will not bear false witness against your neighbor
Or Do not lie
9 You will not like your neighbor’s wife
10 You will not like your neighbor’s goods
The First Commandment

The words spoken by Jesus Christ and recorded by John,
In the thirteenth chapter and in the thirty fourth verse,
"A new commandment that I give unto you...
... that ye will love one another,
As I have loved you, that ye love one another."
All I do, all I say, and all I believe,
must align with this great commandment.
It is the greatest truth I live by!
