I don't see how it matters
Should we be brindle, black, or white
After all our colour
Is governed by our sight
So in a world of darkness
We would be all the same
How can there be a difference
Our eyesight is to blame
So how about we take a look
See what goes on inside
So judge people by their character
And use no other guide
When I was young and friends of mine
Had different coloured skin
We never ever cared about
Which friend was out or in
Was just as we got older
We found this thing called race
We could not understand it
They said it was God's grace
Well I'm still of the old school
The colour of your skin
Does not colour our relationship
In mind you are my twin

Roses are red violets are blue.
What kind of idiot should I call you.

Violets are red, Roses are blue,

Isn't it funny that we think in colour but,
When it's racial we ’don’t see colour’ and,
When it suits you, you ’don’t see colour’ but,
When we need a job you can see colour?
It's very funny that this world is colourful.
What would happen if we all were colour-blind?
No more barriers, no more coloured mind?
I think one thing we’d all come to find, is life is easier when we’re all colour blind.
So quick with the, ’I'm not racist’,
Putting effort in all the wrong places,
This country’s meant to be colour-blind,
But the truth is you’ve all got a coloured mind.
Keep screaming ’SHUKRI ABDI!’, thank God at least it's not me.
Black power, stand strong, one force.
B.L.M, one view, one cause.
Breonna Taylor, knock knock, quick check.
A George Floyd with your knee on our neck.
But it’s cool coz you’ve all got a coloured mind.
Just waiting for the day you’ll be colour-blind.

Black white or in-between
We're all part of this great big scene
Kids are unbiased
Unaware what's ahead
Early years dictate what's routine

You're different from me
You're black
Fancy that
You're different from me
You're white
That's alright
It's alright if you're white
Fancy that
If you're black
You're no different from me
Both coloured
Can't you see

- Colour Blind -
Aha! The lad has achromatopsua.
It's incurable and hereditary.
Then my mother fainted.
Since there was no cure for this dreaded disease,
will they put me up for adoption?
I wondered if they would let me live.
For colouring the rivers brown instead of the usual blue,
the teacher caned me when I was nine.
Red became ridiculous and yellow was yechy too ,
but grass was green and sky was blue
and I wondered what to do.
Denied as an artist - betrayed by my eyes ,
everyone telling me what colours to believe
until my daughter told me
I'm painting pictures with words

In this world there is right and wrong, you can see it for real or in words of a song. Some people can only see just black and white, it's like tunnel vision they'll always be right. At the end of that tunnel where it's always night, they can't see that rainbow born of the sunlight. They live in the dark but it's very clear, they're not scared of the light it's their conscience they fear. Some people with power anything they may try, might try to demean you to cover a lie. Sometimes in this life we must stand up and fight, against those who supposedly are always right. They will try to break you right from the start, but they can't crush your spirit that lives in your heart. In the fullness of time we can look back and see, truth and justice to them kind it will not be. Slip inside the eye of your mind, you'll see the whole rainbow even if you're colour blind.

A blot they want to wash, detergents do not work
Ineffectual, institutional and cover ups a stir
Excuses abound, squirming hierarchy found
"Its just a darkie, why so narky"
The corridors would sound
It still goes on, gone several years
Distrustful patronising leaders
A scurge we hope that does not surge
To Nazi ways and olden days
Where races they would purge

Black, White, Asian,
we are all created equal.
Souls are becoming blinded
by hatred and overwhelming
deceit.
But God remains colour blind.
We drown in an ocean of
his golden words that reflect
truth and trust; truth and
trust that can cure these
poor souls that are poisoned
by a decayed reality of lost
faith; it remains spinning in
a whirlpool of broken lies
and hidden faces.
