An Island home
A land that is not my own, but one I call my home,
born in the sound of ‘bow bells’, brought up in the squawk of seagulls,
my cockney slang, traded for a gaelic twang.
I stepped off the boat, a journey to a home away from home
greeted by a gust of wind, my new life was about to begin.
I fell in love with the foaming blue, glistening in the sun,
I fell in love with the grey cliffs, towering among emerald hills,
I fell in love with golden sand, spreading between my toes.
That night the moon shone brightly in the clear sky;
Inside the sea-beaten walls of Peel Castle,
the Moddey dhoo howled its sad tale.
The beauty of the hills still mists my eyes,
All around me, Manannan cloaks this magic isle.
Time for bed
A laugh a minute is what they said
Soon after that I was brown bread
Cockney slang for very dead
Before I had even said
It's time for me to go to bed
DAMO xx
My basin of gravy has the worst raspberry tart...
My baby has the worst farts(translation)
My man's ian beale blotto, so 'es intercity is spent...
translation: My man's real drunk, so he's spent his money.
I right fancy an itchy ring
'Ope it's itchy teeth in my ivory band
to calm the hunger in my mathew kelly.
I right fancy an isle of skye, to help the inspector and tickle my Irish rose.
I bring my intercity due to inflashun, innit?!!
Translation:
I desire to go to Burger King
hope it's beef in my hand
to calm the hunger in my belly.
I desire a piece of pie, to delute the drink and tickly my nose.
Bringing my bank roll due to inflation!!
London rain and Texan skies
Warm my heart and thrill my eyes
Flooded streets and clouds for miles
Think I’ll stay here for a while
Bright red buses and trusty steeds
Carry my spirit wherever they lead
City bustling and cattle at graze
This is where I spend my days
Royal parks with Texas Rangers
Sounds of home could not be stranger
London Symphony plays Tex Ritter
Here is where you’ll see me linger
Buckingham Palace address Dealey Plaza
My horizon spans farther and vaster
Cockney slang welcomes y’all
To a place my happiness befalls
Union Jack flies Stars and Stripes
A family parted again unites
An English rose with roots state side
A love of each, to both I’m tied
