THE THRILL OF THE PLUNGE*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
steel tracks twist and dive,
a serpent of metal coil
fear and joy collide
hands raised to the sky,
trusting the rush of the ride—
in thrill, our hearts soar
cresting the high peak,
the world drops away below
time bends in the loop
screams mix with laughter
hearts race in the weightless air—
then the silence falls
back on solid ground,
echoes of thrill linger still—
brave hearts crave the next
My mind is like a constant roller coaster, speeding through life unable to stop and complete a simple task, but even a simple task is too much.
I wish my brain had a switch to slow it down, or even just lower the volume of the constant loud thoughts drowning out my concentration.
The roller coaster is endless.
Sometimes I’m barely able to keep in the seat, other days I wait for the thrill of the ride.
why is it so hard to be happy
and not just for a moment
that part’s easy
but to stay happy on a rollercoaster that seems to have no bottom
i hopped on my never-ending rollercoaster again.
buckle up.
Welcome to my life—it's a wild ride with twists and drops that leave me breathless, mirroring the storms within. Heavy chains pull at me, and though I rise, gravity reminds me of my place—unseen, just echoes left behind.
Some days, I feel weightless, lifted by joy, soaring beyond doubt into a kingdom of sky, every breath a possibility. But the world sees me as just a number, and I struggle to fight against a story already written. Alone and unseen, my heart is a restless bird, defying the storms and carving its name across the sky.
I'm a fearless voyager, chasing dreams, but I feel like a scribbled mistake, tears inked on unwritten pages. Even in shadow, I long for recognition, battling doubts while chasing perfection. The tide pulls me under, yet this fight is mine to win—a stronger voice emerging from the cracks. Life’s wild ride may end, but even the quiet ones have a choice.
As I mourn the end of my marriage
An era of ups and downs
Good times and bad times
New heights and extreme lows
First, I was upset
Denying the marriage was bad
Then the sadness crept in
Why us?
We've been together so long
My emotions, I looked for peace of mind
But anxiety crept deeply in
The loneliness, realizing I was alone
The confused though,t what now?
Working through this roller coaster
Taken to different heights
I accepted the stages and strived for the highest peak
I am at peace with it now as I speak
I told you from the start, it’s true,
“My roller coaster, see it through!
Ride with me ‘til journey’s end,
Hand in hand, our spirits blend.”
“Get off with me,” I gently pled,
“No fear, no doubt, no words unsaid.
And you will see, in time’s own way,
A grateful heart, a brighter day.”
“Thankful you stayed, through every turn,
The highs, the lows, the lessons learned.
Hand in hand, we’ll face the light,
A bond forged strong, and shining bright.”
A roller coaster,
Is full of loops and twist.
This ride is full of life,
It’s one we can’t resist.
A roller coaster,
Is full of ups and downs.
Kids when they smile big,
And grownups with their frowns.
A roller coaster,
Is full of screams and shouts.
Ride it with some confidence,
Or ride it with some doubts.
A roller coaster,
Is full of starts and stops,
It’s slow when it’s climbing up
And pretty when it hits the top.
A roller coaster
Is full of corks and screws.
This ride is what we make it
So be careful what you choose.
Into the gaze of your
Sea breeze eyes
I don't ever want to
Look away.
No convincing,
No persuasion needed
This organicity
Offers us a
World in and of its
Own.
Crossing paths,
The bridge,
The connection
The sweetness of
your breath
Moving forward,
Never wanting to stop
This crazy ride.
The rusted Ferris wheel, a skeletal hand,
Points to a sky it can no longer command.
Once, laughter echoed, joy on the breeze,
Now silence reigns, whispered by the trees.
The carousel horses, their paint chipped and worn,
Dream of merry-go-rounds, of days yet unborn.
Once, children squealed, clinging to their steeds,
Now shadows dance, where happy laughter bleeds.
The cotton candy stand, its windows cracked and dim,
Holds the ghost of sweetness, a forgotten whim.
Once, sugary clouds, a magical delight,
Now only dust motes, swirling in the light.
The roller coaster track, a metal serpent curled,
Whispers of thrills, a forgotten world.
Once, screams of delight, a dizzying race,
Now only rust and wind, in this silent space.
The park stands empty, a monument to time,
A reminder of moments, once so sublime.
The ghosts of laughter, echo in the breeze,
Whispering of memories, of happy, carefree days.
It jolts and shakes as it carroms around,
my joints seethe at the pressure exerted,
it rips upward until high off the ground,
I hear the excited cries of my kid.
Oh, to be young, and has such a grand time,
to not feel pain lance as my brains shakes up,
nor to feel unnerved with every decline,
the stomach rises, holding back gets tough.
Up at a high point nearby hills flash by,
start to understand why folks get car-sick,
once things like this made me feel alive,
at least for my son it still does the trick.
We plunge and I hear a sound like thunder,
this was much more fun when I was younger…
The roller coaster of always trying
leaves you so empty and emotionless;
Twisted, all the roads I have been taking
just fill me with anxiety and stress;
‘Buck up you’re a leader stop worrying.’
I tell myself ‘Don’t think things to excess.’
One person can only do what they can,
still I feel I have to be ‘That Woman.’
How many times have we heard: life is like a roller coaster?
from its ups and downs we cannot hide.
As we navigate these highs and lows…
we do our best to enjoy the ride.
Our memory records each ride we make…wherever we happen to go…
allowing us at any time to remember every high and every low.
When friends and family get together…as we do every now and then…
how quickly we get back in line…to ride those memories again.
Remembering with joy and laughter as higher and higher our memories go.
Remembering with tears and sadness when the roller coaster dips down low.
The thing that makes our roller coaster so enjoyable…
is not only how every day our experiences and memories have grown…
but…with all the seats available…we never have to ride alone.
How wonderful it is to hear…as those memories rise and fall…
before they slip away…
how all the people on the ride shared in such a beautiful day.
Because the best memories we have are of our friends and family
laughing screaming…riding with our hands high in the air…
The best memories are the memories we’ve made together…
the memories we share.
Life is like a roller-coaster ride,
with it's ups and down's.
From the time you are born,
until you die.
Life has its up and downs
We stay steady and bring the lows to highs
Smiles can replace those frowns
So you decide to rise
Life throws complicated loops in your mind
Your energy level is getting low
So you hold on tight and work hard
And you be humble and kind
When you get to the bottom of it
You stay strapped in and go again
