Better than the best

Better than the best by Adejola Joseph
Better than the best.
Lyrically incomposable
Infatuations of idealist
Permutations of scientist
Schools of thoughts of the psychologist
Variant opinions of mathematicians
Part of speech of grammarians
Miracles of the clergies
I am better than the best
Better than the best.

Masked Impressions

Masked impressions become conflicts of interest, when synonyms
Are exteriorly presented as such, but intrinsically are pure antonyms!
While the skies’ feelings are transparent with their idiosyncratic looks,
Are there personality barometers, to decipher our intents like open books?
Hence dissimulation has become seamless as if an ingrained aspect,
Where conspicuous expectations are rather what we shouldn’t expect!
And so predatory politicians pledge heaven, but deliver pleasantries of hell,
While some radical clergies’ instigative teachings echo like a woeful knell...
Disguised saints roam streets, as if on a pilgrimage to some holy land!
Whereas their tainted feet trample virtues on the other hand!
What has thus become the sincerity of countenances on faces?
Glances portraying relics of hidden motives beneath the surfaces?
How deep must we then prod the counterfeit of outward expressions?
Just so we can even glimpse, beyond the guile of masked impressions.

Holy War

A holy war
blessed and authorised by the clergies,
condemned and opposed by God.
day and night cities shed blood,
enraged crusaders fight,
for a course wedded to indoctrination.
"give your life or die" they chant,
having more passion for evil,
in the name of the Lord, they destroy,
justifying black for white, sanity for insanity.
killing creatures in mortal frame,
littering peaceful deserts with corpse.
mad crusaders, use your sense!

COPLA CUARENTA Y CUATRO: This Bad Guy World

Animals mammals kill to eat
Thinking animals kill humans:
For their own gods

Most of all those who One god feat
Turn on themselves with blasting guns:
Schizophrenic gods

No founders of religion wrote
The words attributed to them:
Holy hearsay*

Clergies interpret arrogate
Late remembered words post mortem:
If gods could pray…

*Note: Excepting Taoism, but then the "Tao Te Ching" is a philosophy, a way of life, a commentary. Lao Tse, the "founder-author" was prevented from leaving the province/country unless he left behind his "wisdom" which he then composed in 5000 characters, the source of the "religion" as it is practised today.

The Pulpit

What I would not write is much
On the sullied cloak of the clergies.
My inkwell keeps running dry
Each time my quill feather
Is dangled in their direction.
A warning not to belittle
Or mock the modern day Pharisees
Because surely there are
A few good men in their lot.

Yet you should feel this in the heart.
Because therein lies your eternity

I care less of the
Of the fierce looking bobbies
And dogs guarding their calvacades
And mansions here on earth.
I care less of the fetish manipulation
They have over the hungry pew.
And the load of labels
They hang on their necks
To deceive the credulous flock.

Yet it hurts me deeply
To see the false dogmas
Pouring down from the pulpit these days.
Stranger and farther from the truth
They keep getting nowadays.

And by their fruits ye shall know them.
