There it is
Dark, swirling,
Twirling, black tar
I can't go near
So a wall I'll build
But maybe a door
...just in case
There....awww
Nice, clean, house
No black muck
Running about
Should someone mention
The WALL...I will not CALL
...again
Year after year
They come and go
But they CAN"T know
What I can't face
In my private place
Maybe just a peek
...ugh! It reeks
If it's gonna get worse
Maybe I could grab a purse
And just shove it in
...I can't be in the same space
With IT
What is IT, that has all this power
Did you see that?
Who am I talking to
Who's in here with me
"Shame"
I fall to the floor in repugnant sorrow
I want to be me
...but doesn't someone have to say it's ok?
"I do"

I miss Judith, for devil that she was,
she would give me a stare each time I pass,
built like a fort on two pillars of stone,
she would glare like I had sins to atone!
she recycled curtains to make her dress,
she tied her hair with old shoe lace, God bless,
her speech was a dragon breathing fire,
if disobeyed, consequences were dire.
I miss Judith for all the things she did,
under toughness, all the goodness she hid,
clean house, good food, love and care she would show,
harsh on surface, deep in, her heart would glow.
my pretty wife’s dear mother Judith was,
if in my house, you would know who was boss,
she would make you feel welcome, serve you tea,
give you roasted cashew, brimming with glee.
judge not your dear ones for how they behave,
we count their faults, forget all good they gave,
not everyone in life trains to show love,
in her falcon, was hid a peaceful dove.
why pretend to be tough, shall never know,
at hint of our suffering, her tears flow,
many like her who glare when mean a kiss,
for the angel she was, Judith, I miss!

If they do not acknowledge you?
Go hard.
When they don’t have a chair for you?
Build one;
If you’re seen as a natural disaster ?
Clean house;
When you’ve spent all you have?
Do work;
To ensure you’re seen as capital letters?
Write loud.

Charlotte kept the house cleaner than anyone else.
She washed and scrubbed and vacuumed until it was an obsession.
Her husband wanted her time, but she had none to spare.
As a housewife, she was determined to deep clean daily.
Her house was her kryptonite; she was super cleaner.
Let’s go on vacation, he would say. Let’s stay in bed a little longer.
Let’s go out to eat. But she was determined to be a success.
She successfully ran him out of her life and her clean house.

My husband is torn.
He wants a clean house.
But he loves our big puppy.
The chewingest dog in the whole dang town.
He says I guess I should vacuum.
I do not comment.
He is tired of hearing me say “why bother?”
So, I lift my feet
And tolerate the annoying drone
Which drowns out my TV show.
Ten minutes later there is snow in the living room.
At least thirty fluff balls. Buddy has chewed the heck out of something.
Football, pillow, stuffed animal, mattress, something.
My husband comes in and gives a big sigh.
“Why do I bother?” he says.
I turn the volume of my TV show up.

So much time has gone by
And I don't believe that I have told you why,
I love you brother today as before.
But why haven't I told you? I hope you're not sore !
I keep filling my day with important things,
Pick up the phone and give him a ring.
Just let him know I'm thinking to go,
I haven't forgotten to visit my bro.
But...I'll call you tomorrow when I've got the time,
I've got to clean house, my table must shine.
There's laundry and dishes and supper to do,
I will call you my brother I promise you.
I need to take time and slow down my pace.
You're someone I need, I can see your face.
I have to let you know that I truly care,
There's really no excuse I must declare.
I pray for your forgiveness to the Lord above
I need you to know "I have BROTHER LOVE"

Where do you want to be and how soon
That you enquire of the shortest routes and fast cars
Always on your way by sun and by moon
Oblivious of whether your skies host guiding stars
The Lord only makes you tarry for readiness.
It's not a passage of time but patience in its perfect work
To purge obscure evils and with righteousness fill your emptiness
That your clean house be without space for which temptation lurks
A man and his wife sold a field.
Gave part to God claiming that they gave all
Must fear more than love be the surest unction for man to yield
Must he fall so far as a finger to write his end on the wall
Your Father in Heaven tells your hearts not to be troubled
Seize moments to do good but sprint not for sorrowful riches
For by faithfulness Job was restored and his wealth doubled
Turn away from the underhand that the world subtly preaches

Sheba had that twirly whirly jumpy bumpy personality
That told you she was either a Gemini or on drugs
I am a Gemini, and on drugs, so I recognized her right away
Others steered clear of her, using monikers like
Crazy, weird, unusual, off-the-chain, strange.
That is why I ran toward her and made her a friend right away
Sheba had grown up in a carnival, learning to read tarot cards
I love tarot cards; I have tried to read them but
They always end up reading me….
I had grown up in a strict clean house with a mother
Who dragged us to church six times a week
And Sheba thought that was charming….
Sheba had a host of people raise her – the fat woman, the thin man,
The mustached woman, the bearded women, lots of women.
She was used to ignoring orders from everyone….
I had grown up with a drill sergeant of a mother
who expected us to jump hard and fast,
so I was used to lots of belt whippings…..
Sheba and I had not grown up in the same way at all,
but we clicked immediately, understanding that we had all
kinds of things in common
Possibly because we are both crazy, weird, unusual, off-the-chain,
and wonderfully strange.

Doug disappeared on a Monday right after he had finished his little to-do list.
Clean house, check, do laundry, check, take dog to vet, check, spray mirror with slightly warm Wind-mist.
It was his current list, his wife stated adamantly. I keep them here in a little file.
Yes, she had every days’s since they had gotten married. Stacked end to end, they went a country mile.
Doug was found six years later, but refused to come back, making his wife and his mother really sad.
They both had laborious to-do lists by then, and Doug had been the best worker they’d ever had.

Loved by both me and my wife
And God was there to.

Wake up people it's time to come out of hibernation
And into the realization of that beautiful swing witch
Turns Winter into spring. It's time to stop sinning and
Start winning, step into a new beginning. It's time
To clean house, get rid of all that junk, clean all that
Bunk out your trunk.
Get rid of all the nonsense that's going through your
Head instead lets sit down and break bread. It's time
To turn things around for Destiny awaits, come out
Of those dire straits for we all can control our fate
See the beauty of the flower, walk in the warm April
Shower witch will bring forth the lovely May flower
It's time for life it's time for love to see all the wonders
From Heaven above. So out with the old and in with
The new and bring a new you into view. It's time to
Get off your duff, you've been sitting long enough
Time to go out and spread your wings it's time to
SOAR It's Spring.

Oh! sometimes in the snowy
mist of my dreams.
I see you mom.
I know way back then.
You were unhappy.
The clean house
The perfect smile.
The pearls on your neck.
The imperfect marriage.
I know you had to leave him.
Your heart was too empty
Too vacant to carry on.
But what did I do mom?.
All I wanted was your
Kiss goodnight.
Your soft lips
cooling my fevers.
I miss you mom.
But I hope you found
Your place of sweetness.
I know I am still looking
For mine.

Ectopic heart
beat. Acoustic
neuroma. Sleep
apnea. Getting
older blessing
against alternative.
Neither hate
nor repair.
Immediately
the woods were familiar ?
bunchberry, clintonia.
Red spruce, yellow birch.
Heron rowing
northward overhead
a sign: good luck.
Or was it just
a crow. Rock thrown.
Don't know.
Life's ending.
My sons
have each other
for laughter
at their tragedies.
Avalanche, cataract.
Clean house or
run for president.
Power and talent
are bones in your feet.
Nature's the bed
you'll sleep in.
Thyroid storm.
Screech
of the long-eared
owl. Even if
portent of death,
it's welcome.
