Premium MemberIs There Light

Is There Light?

Is there light in the darkness?
Is there hope in the grief?
Is there health in the sickness?
Is there peace in the strife?
Oh! The questions keep coming
With their doubts and their fears.

Can there be a way different
A way that’s way out
An escape from normality
That can banish all doubt?

Try reading the Bible
About Jesus our Lord.
Through his life and his death
He suffered for sinners
Bore what we deserved.
And so, yes, and so,
By his resurrection power
Light, hope, health, and peace
Can be ours through his word!

Triumph Over Death

He came for humanity's sake,
Preaching love, not disunity's ache.
A pillar strong, a tower high,
He healed the oppressed, the devil's sigh.

Declared his fate, arrest, and death,
Yet on the third day, he'd find new breath.
Conquering death, the world's despair,
He arose, putting shame to crafty snare.

No need for evidence to quell my doubt,
My conviction stands, unwavering without.
Fully persuaded, I declare his might,
Resurrection's victory, hope's radiant light.

Premium MemberCan There Be

So can there be a dreamlike place
Where sympathy controls?
Where friendly kindness fills the space
No traps or tricks or holes.

A place where treachery slides away
And smoothness paves the path today
For those who have no sense of ease,
Whose struggles never cease?

Yes, yes, indeed, there is a place
Where hopes and future have a face.
Not made of things, nor merely matter
Not loads and loads of useless chatter.

Good hope is real in reach of all
Whose voices call, their needs confessing
And then proceed to trust the love
The sacrificial Calvary love of Jesus,
Precious Jesus.

Premium MemberIt Wasn't Clean

It wasn’t clean at Calvary,
no tidy hill-top site,
neat-kept and swept
where tourist cameras
crowd
wide-angled
in the holy sweat
of multi-pounded package tours.

It was a common place
of cruelty,
and blood,
a skull,
Golgotha death
and mocking hate
and sorrow deep-confused.

In retrospect,
a place of wonder
infinite,
for here
the eternal God,
forgiving,
gave his life
for me.

“The Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20

Brutal Calvary

That time when Jesus walked among men
has long passed, only faint images remain;
and the curious crowds followed Him everywhere:
they heard a wisdom from the mouth of dare!

Herod was a savage: the king of Jerusalem;
too jealous he was of the humble Messiah
who taught miserable men the beautiful truth:
the holiest man that ever lived was Abraham!

Christ paved the smooth way of righteousness,
He embraced all leaving not a soul to wonder;
they listened and felt divine love in plain words...
the Pharasies gnashed their teeth showing fear!

Walking barefoot on spikey stones made Christ bleed accasionlly,
they weren't kind to the Savior who dragged the heavy cross;
the red blood dripping from His crown was mixed with tears....
He fell three tim, then Simon carried His cross to brutal Calvary!

On Calvary

On Calvary
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire

Sans devoid and bare
Now and then I stare
Out there feeling bereft
My punctured lung bleeds
Feet wont dare to step
I am nailed so hard
The clouds go dapple drab
The sky emboss so somber
Robber and I either side
I came to fetch many faults..

Sans devoid I bare the load
Whom am I ?
Jesus from God
The saviour Messiah
Who grants salvation
Confined and tied up
The will is done now
My covenant fullfilled
My compromise given
The time has dawned
So you may live.

Sans devoid and bare
I have borne the cross alone
On Calvary
The loaded cross
Of forgiven sins
There will be images
Up a cross
In A world of great devide
No more snakes in wine
My hands and feet
No longer bereft
I thirst

I ascend
I remember you ..
On Calvary
You sin and weep no more.

As We Traverse the Landscapes

Like travellers,
We cross this arid land
Aiming at the city of rest.

As we traverse the landscapes
We may, of a truth, sully our feet
With besetting dust of sin

But we must from time to time
Remember Calvary, the place of cleansing
Where mercy flows immeasurably

We go through marketplaces
Let’s be pleased with divine supplies
Lest we are tangled with vanities of life

We faint many a time
But we are resuscitated; we move on
We despair not.

We shall win!
We are soldiers in the warfare
Let’s fight, holding onto the cross

Calvary Made the Resurrection Inevitable

Prophecies spoken, Jesus is the Art of Perfection
History cannot forget the resurrection
The Cross of Resurrection needs close inspection
The Bible reveals that this matter is certainly not inconsequential
Based on our faith, Calvary made the resurrection inevitable
You cannot kill something when the Spoken Word is Alive Forever!

The death of Jesus is unique because of His Resurrection
No other leader came back from the dead and
We live our lives in His Resurrection Power

The tomb was empty
The absence of Jesus’ body
Presented His enemies with a problem!
No corpse could be found
Jesus of Nazareth rose from the Dead

The Resurrection makes all the difference in our lives
Jesus atoned for our sins on the Cross!
Many thought that He would remain in the Tomb
Many thought that His Name would just pass by but
God raised Him from the grave and therefore
History cannot forget the resurrection

We thank God the Father that He will raise up the saints
Because the Resurrection makes all the Difference

The Pain, the Pain - Not Mine

I
The pain, the pain - not mine
God had allowed them, I didn't whine
Love and lottery share a common thread -

Money makes them attractive, addictive

We know it yet prefer silence, one so eerie
It is shocking that sin can make us merry

II
When what we felt, rises to the surface
The pain is deep. Beyond egg on a face
Maybe I abused Earth; this pain, not mine
I WILL NOT OWN IT. I REBUKE ITS SPIRIT
I am free; He took it all at Calvary; He took it

Premium MemberRed Roses On Calvary

There were roses on Calvary that day, you know.
Bunches and bunches of roses adorning the skull.
Red roses! For crimson blood seeped profusely that day.
It had to be so for our own sake. Divine blood
that dripped from a thousand and one hematic wounds
as He hang on a brittle tree He Himself had created.

There were sharp, pointed thorns too on the roses.
They adorned His Divine head, piercing the smooth skin,
forcing majestic blood ooze down into His royal eyes,
stinging them abundantly, preventing proper sight.
No wonder the prophet Isaiah said of Him:
"his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man
and his form marred beyond human likeness....."
Such were the pointed thorns that crowned Him King of Kings.

Yet for those who know, there was perfume there too.
A fabulous fragrance that came down from Heaven
on the wings of the Holy Spirit, a balm of blissful grace,
that we may wash ourselves in it and be justified.
"He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,"
For He loved us much. And we? Do we return His Love?

A Carpenter On Golgothe

There's nothing more I can do,
he said as the blood flowed.
What hurts the most is being abandoned,
he whispered as I took the hammer.
this task is not the best,
you know how it is...
sometimes you just do what you gotta do,
a father does everything for his children
and children need bread.
Soon everything will pass,
he said screaming with the pain of the blows
black eyes fixed on me
before passing out.
his hair drips red sweat,
sinful clouds roll across the sky,
far away the oboes echo
as if asking why.
how many hits are needed
for the flesh to be pierced,
the work finally finished
and I be eternally cursed?

Premium MemberAt Calvary

Come to the cross, the precious cross
Upon which our Savior shed his blood;
Cast down your sin and enter in
At Calvary, with its crimson flood.

Come to the cross, the precious cross
Where Jesus died for a sinful world;
Cast down your sin, and enter in
At Calvary, with its crimson flood.

CHORUS
At Cal-var-y, at Cal-var-y,
Where Jesus bled and died for me.

Come to the cross, the precious cross
It was there my Savior died for me;
I’ll cast down my sin, and I’ll enter in
The crimson flood at Cal-var-y.

CHORUS
At Cal-var-y, at Cal-var-y,
Where Jesus bled and died for me.

Premium MemberWhat Would I Do Without Calvary

Priests, preachers, and Evangelists,
I've listened to them all;
But what would I do without Calvary,
Had I not heard the sweet Savior's call?

For Man cannot do as his own will directs,
And still gain the sweet Bye And Bye;
Nor preachers forgive them the sins of a life,
That was wasted though try as they might.

For only The Son can finish the job,
That The Father, Himself has begun.
The Spirit must lead us, must guide and must teach us,
Only on God to rely.

On Calvary Hill

Of this Love, God's godly substance
That let itself spurt out
As a fount of human suffering
Is what's heard sung about.
Midst parched hearts, world's collective
Edenic hoping renews.
Under harsh winds' curse, and vultures'.
Grinding fate's; Death's subdues.
