At Calvary

Come to the cross, the precious cross Upon which our Savior shed his blood; Cast down your sin and enter in At Calvary, with its crimson flood. Come to the cross, the precious cross Where Jesus died for a sinful world; Cast down your sin, and enter in At Calvary, with its crimson flood. CHORUS At Cal-var-y, at Cal-var-y, Where Jesus bled and died for me. Come to the cross, the precious cross It was there my Savior died for me; I’ll cast down my sin, and I’ll enter in The crimson flood at Cal-var-y. CHORUS At Cal-var-y, at Cal-var-y, Where Jesus bled and died for me. FIRST PLACE WINNER submitted to "Songs of Praise" Poetry Contest sponsored by Robert James Ligouri

What a wonderful invitation Milt - to "cast down our sin and enter in the crimson flood at Calvary." Lovely, lyrical cadence in this invitation. Congratulations and blessings!

Thanks, Sam. I'm not a very good lyricist, but I gave it a go.

The change from 'us' to 'me' is a great transformation with regard to casting down the sin when repentance and the value of Jesus's death becomes a personal experience from collective consciousness. A touching write !

Thanks, Tom. I was a church musician for years...choir, piano, organ...and I think it's quite singable. The lyrics are not especially complicated, while being quite memorable to the believer.

Milton, I can hear the choir singing, and the congregation bellowing out the chorus~an outstanding lyric waiting to be sung! Love this! :)Paulette
