Listlessly he feeds the pigeons,
strutting proudly in the park;
kicking at an empty coke can,
gravity has left its mark.
Nattily attired he's one of
many other CEOs
high atop the corporate ladder,
highly thought of, (what a pose!)
Tired of mergers, acquisitions,
weary of the daily stress;
where's the joy, the satisfaction,
where's the bliss of happiness?
Hamptons cottage never lived in,
cabin cruiser barely used;
his wife's begun divorce proceedings,
claims that she has been abused.
Son and daughter - Utah, Texas,
never sees them anymore;
dad's too busy making millions,
economics, what a bore!
Who'd have thought a Wharton graduate
with a double PhD
would spend his lunch hour feeding pigeons,
kicking coke cans listlessly.
In his three-room penthouse office
with a prospect of Times Square
he seals another hefty contract,
he has lost the will to care.
Listlessly he feeds the pigeons,
strutting proudly in the park;
kicking at an empty coke can,
gravity has left its mark.
Nattily attired he's one of
many other CEOs
high atop the corporate ladder,
highly thought of, such a pose.
Bored with mergers, acquisitions,
weary of the daily stress;
where's the joy, the satisfaction,
where's the bliss of happiness?
Hamptons cottage never lived in,
cabin cruiser barely used;
his wife's begun divorce proceedings,
claims that she has been misused.
Children living with no love,
he never sees them anymore;
he's too busy making millions,
economics is his score.
Who'd have thought a Wharton graduate
with a double PhD
would spend his lunch hour feeding pigeons,
kicking coke cans endlessly.
In his spacious penthouse office
with a prospect of Times Square
he seals another hefty contract,
he has lost the will to care.
The sea calls my name; to the call of waves I respond
For seven full days with no one I’ll correspond
My fishing gear packed, I board a cabin cruiser
To escape society, man’s worst abuser
The GPS set, I head fifty miles offshore
To a reef where city lights can’t be seen anymore
The sea would remain calm; hey, this is my story
And the galley’s pantry filled with inventory
Gull screeches and dolphin cackles, the only sounds
In each direction a blue horizon surrounds
Since the break of dawn, the grouper have been biting
Catching my dinner; nothing is more exciting
As the orange sun paints clouds pink before it sets
I commune with God and nature, have no regrets
Through the skylight above the cabin’s comfy bed
Venus, Mars and the Milky Way appear overhead
Reminders that I’m but a speck in God’s grand plan
Merely a traveler whose perceptions expand
A lifetime I’d want, but settle for just one week
To live upon the ocean and adventure seek

Every summer I sail sweetly on a still and serene sea;
Floating my beautiful boat with my friends and fans,
We Cruise carefully on my colorful Cabin Cruiser.
Reefing and racing, running and roaming…relaxing,
Floating a boat is fun, lovely and lively, I’m never lonely,
My boat is on pressure while I’m deep in pleasure;
Playing games, partying; with sights and sounds on the sea.
Sailing before the wind… I follow the wind’s course,
The speed is sometimes slow and sometimes it hastens like a horse,
Floating a boat is lively… little luggage, lovely voyage.
The breeze and the boat befriend each other… by and by;
Every nautical mile, on the Nile, we seldom sing and smile,
Floating my beautiful boat is a terrific transport… full of fun.
Canoeing on the Tomoka River
A cool spring day with gulls leading in line
My male companion had never canoed
So the powerful paddling chore was mine
Heaving breathlessly I rowed us along
Attempting to transport us far upstream
It was then quite a shock came from the blue
A startling splash down my back made me scream
My friend jumped and nearly toppled the boat
I rose carefully and turned ‘round to find
A mullet jumped into my rented canoe
It twisted and flopped to escape its confines
This event preceded my fishing days
And I was happy when the fish flew out
This was the first fish that I’d ever caught
No reel, no hook, and bait I did without
Years later I bought a cabin cruiser
Because seafood is tops on my menu
Many days offshore with nary a bite
Maybe I should have purchased a canoe
