Burn Up Poems

Premium MemberOur Time to be Heroes

As the fires burn up our forests
and the deadly floods ravage our earth
All the traitors inside of the WH
give America new fascist birth

Our brothers and sisters patrol us
with the weapons of war that we made
As the songs they once sang about honor
about freedom and liberty, fade

They are building an army against us
search for people of color to blame
Armed with weapons of war in our cities
hidden faces are proof of their shame
As Republicans lie to the people
some reporters reply with a wink
And the viewers are all left to wonder
what was truth, what was lie, what to think

This is now a complete insurrection
being led by commander in chief
And the GOP Sedition Party
falls on all like a blanket of grief

We must all tow the line for our freedom
march together and then stand as one
It is now our time to be heroes
show the world how democracy’s won

Twenty-four days before Christmas in 1958 there was a huge fire
at Our Lady of the Angels, a Catholic grade school in Chicago
Eighty-seven children and three nuns died in this fire.

One of the children who passed was Mary’s little sister, Karen.
She was to be a first grader forever.
Mary was in the fourth grade at the time.

Mary spent years trying to forget that day, the worst day ever.
The frantic nuns, the commotion, the smoke, the frenzy.
Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting on the sidewalk across the street.

Watching the school burn up, wondering where Karen was.
A sister who never came home.
Mary felt shame for leaving her.

She had wanted to run in there and rescue Karen.
But the adults restrained her.
Her family waited for hours hoping for a miracle.

Watching the front door, praying Karen would walk inside.
She never did.
Eighty-six other children did not return home either.
Probably led to heaven by the three nuns.

GLOBAL WARMING

I remember those summers as a boy,
When the sun shone down from morning till night.
That sun on our backs brought us so much joy
And we laughed at those who’s skin was still white.
We knew nothing back then of UV rays,
As we lay on the beach by the ocean.
Sometimes we burnt on the hottest of days
And Mum applied some calamine lotion.
But now, of course, the scientists advise
Avoiding UV rays and CFC’s.
Each year the temperature will rise.
The human race will soon be on its knees.
Our planet will burn up, as likely as not,
As Cole Porter put it, “It’s Too Darn Hot.”

Premium MemberIn Stars Above

They are far and away
Separated from the day
They light up the night sky
And by morning light, they say goodbye

They do not make thunder sounds
They watch over us, all around
One astounds us in the morning
Another gazes at us in the evening

There are millions making the stary nights
Turning the darkness into the light
We often look up to those heavenly stars
And declare our dreams from distance far

O morning star, may God light up my life
O evening star, may I be free of fright
O stars of night, you dispell the darkness
O stars of night, you also minimize sadness

O stars of night, so quiet but yet with so much to say
O stars of night, kings and queens under the canopy
O kings of the night, I've seen you falling without causing fear
O queens of the night, it's because most times you burn up in the atmosphere. *

On The Day When Never Comes

So do we make it work?
Did the stars that we wished upon bless us?
Or did it burn up like a shooting star?
Or did we count them wrong?
Did we measure the width of the sky?
Is it wide enought to hold our dreams?
Mine and yours, together.
Well even if it didn't
Then let's meet again
On the day when
The sun is cold and the moon spreads warmth
And this time we'll count the stars right

Be A Little More

They said: be a little more.
Then they stepped in their spaceship.
I never saw what planet they landed on.
Or maybe it was a comet moving quickly.

Be a little more-
Like a five star chef.
Like a drummer in a band.
Like a crowd pleaser.
And a people pleaser.

You’ll never be an astronaut though.
But,
Maybe you’ll burn up in space all alone.
There’s nothing else out there.
They can laugh all they want.
But nothing is audible in space.

Or I could just be:
Friendly.
Kind.
Helpful.
Fluttering around.
Doing little things.

But then they said:
Be A Little More.

The person in that space pod.
Who lost it.
But picked up playing guitar by herself.

What It Means To Poetry

In the world of poetry
Words are running out okey
Everything is stable
The meaning portrayed in fable
Some words are shamble in juxtaposition
Makes you burn up in depression
For romantic one, poetry is healing
For a heart's relief that's needing.

Salute

Bow down
To the 13 bullets you were given,
Now load your machines

Now now
One foot before the other,
Don't stray from the way, no end to the means

Heads down,
As you walk through all of it,
Might just as well be at one with the team

Jump jump
The in bandwagons rolling
Keep your eyes closed for the routine

Pound for pound
Paid in flesh, for the mess, they created,
Prepare the obscene

Burn Burn Burn
Think we’ll learn from the rules you discern?
We won’t turn up, lest ye burn up

If You Find Shade

You've got it made if you find shade
When it is hot and sunny,
For boiling rays can spoil your days
In ways that aren't funny.

Aside from sweat, you might just get
A dose of melanoma
Or lethargy, to some degree
Resembling a coma.

Yet with some luck, you won't be stuck
And you can find a bower
To keep you cool, or, like a fool,
Burn up within the hour.

April Ends

The end of April.
Awareness fades.
For most, but for us?
We watch the seasons change, but are silent.
Sadly, when it heats up,
Awareness seems to burn up too.
You didn’t end our struggles.
This April.
So our message fades.
Summer is a happy time.
For people with friends.

A World on Fire

There are going to be incursions, invasions,
military and terrorist strikes,

we look to the future, yet nobody can see
beyond tomorrow.

Earth and ash confirm
that there is a spiritual fire
in the heart of any battle
at the heart of all life and death,

The world has always been on fire
even without the aid of mankind.

What we see as reality
are those flames shaping all appearance.

If war comes
just know,
that conflagration
is a daisy flower blooming,
Combustion is nourishment,
it is we that burn up those calories.

Feu de joie, lamps and beacons
the small flame of a viper,
see how the grass it passes though
is green with an internal fire?

The bonfire is within and without.
see this, and you will not be
afraid
no matter how hot
a gun barrel gets.

Premium MemberMy Mythological Child

"Phoenix Raine"
My fabulous firebird
You burn up with rage
And fall into a pile of hot ashes
Then your tears "Raine" down to put them out
You are renewed
Fresh and ready to share yourself again

During your moontimes
Hormones turn you into a dragon
Protecting your treasures
Your heart, spirit and emotions
With roaring and flames
But that passes too
And once again you share your treasure
With all who come near you

You are a fairy
Flitting around on wings of kindness
Helping everyone
Looking after babies to give mothers a break
Always there for everyone
Your smile lights the world
And your inner beauty shines in your face
You are my mythological child
And I love you

Set Me Off

et me off so that I can burn up

Cause I've been cold for a while

I'm as good as dead

So better be done with it already

Set me off once and for all

Atleast I'll escape this reality

Into the sound sleep of death

Where I'll finally take rest

Cause I've been walking but dead

I'm barely moving into progress

While I've been giving it my all

I'm breaking with nothing to show

What's kept me alive is the hope

That you'll see me struggling and take me

Just like how a scavenger hovers on its prey

Cause I'm barely walking with this weight I have on

Premium MemberEarth and Water

I am filled with life-giving properties.
Without these minerals, life would not exist.
I am a natural depository for gold and silver.
I am hard; I am soft; I am rough; I am smooth.
I am continents, oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes.
I am hot; I am cold; I am old; I am EARTH.

Like humans, I consist of many parts, but
The most visible components are land and water.
The moon revolves around me, and if the moon
were closer to me, I would freeze.
I revolve around the sun, and if I were
closer to the sun, I would burn up.

I am not complete without WATER.
Actually, I consist mostly of WATER.
I and WATER have learned to get along.
Like humans, we must live together or die apart.
When humans drop a seed or plant inside of me,
If they are to live, grow, and thrive, I call upon WATER
to help me. Otherwise, both the plant and seed would die.
