Train For Goliath
Six cubits and a span high from Gath
Bronze brazened head, legs and arm-rest
Jacket plates heavier than heavyweight
A spear standing firmly like a free pillar
He stands fiercely between now and there
His breath blows strong shivers through each spine
His words makes bones rattle and faces hide.
He spits on everything you once thought true.
It seems the end already at the very start.
How does one surpass such impossibility?
Where does one turn with such narrow close?
Sit and sleep seems the best freedom ‘mong none.
Biting your naked nails won’t make Gath bow.
Learn to fix your eyes on the better view:
The God-thus-far against the Gath-of-now.
A little peek out then your fears become real.
It takes more than a sling to stand over him.
It takes strength drawn from the lion and bear.
It takes the growing intimacy of yesteryears.
It takes bold shouts and a race towards Goliath.

When the Wildfire Burned
The ground was crow-black
as the ashes took wing in the breeze,
flowing in hot breath across a
grief stricken earth.
Charred trees, now barren of leaves,
stood leaning...drunk, like numb sticks,
ready to snap with the next lash
of wind, whipping the flames into a
brazened brawl. Oh, but no shame there
as the earth lay bare for all to see,
raped by a blaze, begging tears
of mercy to fall, to slake the fevered thirst.
The air was thick with smoke
as all life sniffed danger, seeking
refuge- around a bend, beside a pond,
an edge, a corner- to somewhere beyond
the clash of ocean tides dipped in
wet mist...but the torch spread wider.
"Not here!" it cried to the coyote,
"Not here!" it screeched to the deer.
"Fly higher meadowlark!" (blinding her flight.)
"No, No, not here!"
Tumbleweeds scurried over seared land,
dying in barbed wire, as the flames
licked higher, stinging wheat's ear.
People bowed heads in prayer, teetering between
hope and fear- Then awakened to a
blanket of white, stitched by angels and
laid down by God, sometime in the night.

Holding Hands
Holding Hands
The things that we say
to the hands we hold,
so gentle and soft
or brazened and bold,
without saying words
we speak to the heart,
words that need voices
when hands are apart.
In friendship and love,
in joy or in pain
enduring of time
and seasons of change.
Without using words
what else could you do
to speak from the heart
"I'm right here with you"
For courage and strength,
compassion and hope,
sharing a burden
and helping us cope,
Or tethers a bond
of passionate fire,
steadily fueling
a growing desire.
Some are against
as public display,
keeping their distance
for dignity's sake.
Their understanding
depends on the words,
missing the message
the heart may have heard.
Some say our lives
are much better shared.
For pain of the loss
it's cautiously dared.
A touch of the hand
lead hearts to be won.
When taking thy hand
the two become one.

Testing the Edge
TESTING THE EDGE
unsheathed razorsharp
doubledged crimsonbled
dark holes feed blue moles
underneath dirt they skirt
claws braced throats cursed
testing the edge
in mythical maddening moments
Unicorns stab their Mermaids
laying their own sea beds of
shameful ancient slaughter
testing the edge
bloodbeating brainscreaming
red smoldering screens
blindfolded shielded against
past discretions obscene
unseen mock reproductions
artificial redraged dreams
double edged crimsonbled
testing the edge
while stupidly they stare
and do not dare interfere
protecting clean blueveined
wrists not stained red by
unsheathed razorsharp
brazened blades
testing the edge

That One of a Kind Friend
Brilliant colors like brazened eyes
They tease and temp
Just as starlight that shines
They caused me to perk
To look afar in dark of night.
One and only one light -
I saw many diamond sparks twinkled.
From comfort spot, I rose again to look
And as I looked within, then out at scenes
Beckoning me to see...
I heard One Voice consoling me.
An aged old Friend I've shun...
Its scent of freedom reigned fresh, like
Forget-me-not with dew.
Now I think of You
Your radiance seeping in
Holding my hand.

Impressionistic Eve
Strong blocks of color
display the brazened buildings
by the peaceful canal,
where yellow brushstrokes
illustrate their tranquil reflections.
Dark flecks of paint grace the bridge,
depicting blurred images of people
on a quiet romantic eve.
While the centered spire kisses
the ardent Amsterdam sky.
As a glorious Holland day,
comes to a beautiful close.

On a Mission
I fell down to the bottom of every single Sea not just once but twice.
I scrambled onto my feet and fell all over myself time and time again
I was up and then went down until I felt this tingly breezy needy wind.
I stood up on two weakened knees eventually I’d plateau with a price.
Water wind fire earth and every metal made me the finest grains of rice.
I am dreaming of being a disbeliever in you so I stand in my self defense.
I marked me a stone and I gave it a name and only my voice will it hence.
Shattered was the Ocean’s floor and suddenly breaking in on thinner ice.
I was enthralled at its fear yet brazened in my heart,
I balanced the winds and now I am set on a mission.
Alpha is exact where or when my breaths of life start
I’m the latitudes and I’m longitudes rallying ignition.
Tomorrow will come just as now is gone so here again I must go,
Boundlessly rooted to be all of me especially when my kiss I blow.
