The Second Time Around

All right! I’ll give it another try...
I’ll give Faith a second chance;

A faith I had discarded
A faith I had tugged away
in the back of my conscience,
Writing faith off as a boondoggle
best buried and forgotten,
as an extra baggage weighing me down.

O.K., I’ll give it a second chance,
Maybe it will be easier believing
than being skeptical all the time,
Trusting than doubting all the time,
Smiling than scowling all the time.

I don’t want to be angry no more,
No more I want to be lonely,
I have courted death often times…
I’ll give life another shot.

I’ll face the rising sun with an open heart.
For once I’ll stop to smell the flowers
and savor gratefully each living moment
in the grace of His providence.

Alone I have wandered
the wilderness long enough,
I am ready to come back home.

Expanded Vocabulary

She said concretize
and her vocabulary
Typified my desire
for words
amorously.
Then I came
across boondoggle
and thought
hell no,
Not me
feed me every
word in your
dictionary
take me from
dilettante
to fait-accompli
Make me the greatest
of all time
if only in my mind
Her tongue
can use my mind
indiscriminately
to the point
of confessing
Ooo, I like that
and all manners
of Freudian slips
Her words
produce
bitten bottom lips
She is the ..it.

The Gatekeeper

On Boondoggle street
thrives a magic store
anyone who enters disappears
except the old dear
who minds the counter
who never enters or leaves
whose eyes are sharp as twin tacks.

A Sisyphean Task

Idle thoughts are the chaff of the mind – with wind soon scatter,
Rein in the chatter.

Need for a hearty laugh had often made me cry,
A lifelong boondoggle try.

Tilt the water pitcher and let the river flow
Lest tears from my eyes slow.

Gather all the dark clouds in the sky,
Storm over the desert most dry.

Only the promise of an unyielding tomorrow
Lessens today’s sorrow.

I walk on my head,
I falter, I stumble and fall instead.

It’s our heart we’re bound to follow
Good sense sounds hollow.

The soul aspires for the realm yonder,
The mind but wonders.

Seize the spirit of ethereal grace of twilight,
A soul’s lonesome flight.

The old man with the scythe catches up to us all,
Until we fall.

Vanity and Vexation

Ahhhhhh.... they make me so mad!
A fool, a buffoon, an unruly lad,
A prankster, a trickster, a tattler,
A gigolo, a lounger and an idler;

An imposter, a pretender and a loafer,
A party crasher, a tailgater and a golfer,
A boondoggle or a task of a tall order,
And the deals done under-the-counter!

I often tear my hair out at a silly pun
or at a smart aleck who can out-run,
A hoax or a scam drives me crazy
which is absurd, witless or sleazy.

But look into my eyes lovingly
and whisper sweet nothing softly,
Hold my hands and be pretty sexy
And oh ... Man, I’ll just go crazy!

Christmas

Christmas

Her words flow effusive
Like lava, molten. Melting rocks
Mellow is the background music
She is tired of boondoggle. Cacophony
Of the Guests. Bright are the Christmas lights.
When had the Christmases became for the bourgeois
Champagne is what Christ would disapprove of.
She is sure. Quid pro Quo?
Christ was a socialist
No longer can she feign Elan for these capitalist festivities
ALAS the Turkey is well cooked
Tinsels and presents make her children ecstatic
More mulled wine, anyone?

Weebles Wobble

Weebles wobble
   but they do fall down.

Once without windup whimsy weebles wobble writhing in wistful wiggly wattles,
they bubble, bobble, boggle, bottle and boondoggle coddles and dawdles;
a colossal ensemble debacle joggles and toggles the toddler's throttle
waiting on wafting waffles the twaddle and goggling the toppled pottles.

Just google that old fossil's nozzle schnozzled squabble.

Give Peace a Chance

There can be no peace -
There never was,
There never will be!
It's simply not there
in the grand scheme of things;

The universe came forth
from a Big Bang,
There's nothing out there
except darkness, silence and chaos,
Mankind sprang forth and spread
through murders, invasions, looting,
deception, backstabbing, jihad
crusades, inquisitions, crucifixion;

A God who destroys men,
Men who kills in God's name;

Peace is a misnomer!

It can only be found, if at all,
within oneself,
Seeking it outside is
a boondoggle project
of epic proportion!

Say What

Parachute,
Like the mind,
Works open.

Wed - think not,
If you think,
Will not wed!

Boondoggle -
Day by day,
Work, same work.

Drop by drop
Fill my cup,
Get me drunk.

Step by step
I will find
My way home.

Flower blooms
And withers,
Blooms again.

Tick, Tock, Tick...
Time goes on,
And life ends!
