The Second Time Around

All right! I’ll give it another try...
I’ll give Faith a second chance;

A faith I had discarded
A faith I had tugged away
in the back of my conscience,
Writing faith off as a boondoggle
best buried and forgotten,
as an extra baggage weighing me down.

O.K., I’ll give it a second chance,
Maybe it will be easier believing
than being skeptical all the time,
Trusting than doubting all the time,
Smiling than scowling all the time.

I don’t want to be angry no more,
No more I want to be lonely,
I have courted death often times…
I’ll give life another shot.

I’ll face the rising sun with an open heart.
For once I’ll stop to smell the flowers
and savor gratefully each living moment
in the grace of His providence.

Alone I have wandered
the wilderness long enough,
I am ready to come back home.

Life can be wonderful for those who see with the eyes of the soul. Well penned.
